Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 68 – The Appearance of the Fire Phoenix
The Harley-Davidson’s engine let out a beastly growl, transforming into a swift black shadow on the empty, deathly silent streets.
The wind howled in her ears. Lin Fan enjoyed this ultimate speed.
This body, whether in terms of strength, speed, or reflexes, had reached a whole new level.
She didn’t even need to consciously control it; the body’s instincts allowed her to execute the most perfect driving maneuvers.
The tight, black-and-white yoga suit clung to every inch of her skin, flawlessly showcasing the explosive curves of her body.
This feeling of freedom, power, and being unrestrained was intoxicating to her.
The silhouette of the military camp soon appeared on the horizon.
Lin Fan didn’t approach directly. Instead, she hid the motorcycle in a cluster of abandoned buildings. Then, relying on her superhuman leaping ability, she silently ascended the small hill where she had conducted her reconnaissance last time, all in just a few bounds.
The view here was wide, enough to take in the entire periphery of the military camp.
She retrieved a pair of high-powered military binoculars from her Storage Space, lay prone behind a bush, and began to observe carefully.
Last time, that white-haired zombie queen hadn’t even truly acted, yet she had sent them fleeing in disarray just by controlling the horde of zombies.
Although her strength had now increased severalfold, a lion still uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit.
Caution was always the first rule of survival in the apocalypse.
“Hm?”
The scene in her lenses made Lin Fan raise an eyebrow slightly.
At the entrance of the military camp, a brutal battle of offense and defense was currently unfolding.
A group of survivors, about forty to fifty people, were tightly encircled by thousands of zombies within a narrow defensive perimeter.
Lin Fan recognized those zombies at a glance.
They were the Mutants from the military camp, controlled by the white-haired woman.
They moved in unison, advancing and retreating in an orderly fashion, not at all like common, mindless zombies. They were more like a disciplined army.
The besieged survivors, however, were much more poorly equipped.

Most of them were still wielding cold weapons like fire axes and steel pipes, wearing a motley assortment of homemade armor. They looked to be in a precarious situation.
“Some unlucky souls who came to the military camp for weapons?”
A cold smirk touched the corners of Lin Fan’s lips.
It seemed this group had successfully broken into the camp and might have even gotten some weapons, but they were surrounded and trapped while trying to retreat.
Her gaze searched through the crowd, quickly locking onto the commander.
It was a woman.
A tall woman dressed in a fiery red, form-fitting combat suit.
She had long red hair and a cold, beautiful face. In her hand, she wielded a custom-made long saber, and every swing unleashed a spray of blood.
Her combat prowess was clearly a cut above the rest.
But what truly caught Lin Fan’s attention wasn’t her swordsmanship.
Just then, three Mutant zombies broke through the outer defense line, roaring as they pounced toward a weak point in the perimeter.
The survivors cried out in alarm, the line on the verge of being breached.
“Get lost!”
The red-haired woman shouted sharply, thrusting her left hand forward.
Whoosh!
A scorching fireball materialized out of thin air, instantly engulfing the three Mutant zombies.
The fireball exploded, turning into a raging inferno that also ignited a dozen other zombies nearby.
The air filled with a scorched, foul stench.
The zombies, seared by the flames, let out shrill howls and writhed madly, but they couldn’t extinguish the fire on their bodies and were soon reduced to charred husks.
Behind the binoculars, Lin Fan’s pupils constricted slightly.
Flames?

Summoning flames out of thin air?
The intelligence Ah Hu had interrogated out of Lin Shao’s mouth flashed through her mind.
The shopping center in the south of the city, the flame wielder, “Fire Phoenix.”
So it was her.
Lin Fan’s breathing couldn’t help but quicken.
Elemental control ability!
Another high-grade skin!
Lin Fan’s heart began to beat faster against her will.
She forced herself to calm down and continue observing.
Fire Phoenix’s face was somewhat pale, her forehead covered in fine beads of sweat.
Evidently, frequently unleashing flames of that magnitude was a huge drain on her.
Although the morale of the survivors around her was greatly boosted, it was still a drop in the bucket against the endlessly surging horde of zombies.
This was a dead end.
Unless a miracle occurred, all of these people were going to die here today.
Lin Fan lowered her binoculars, a playful smile on her face.
The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.
This was truly an effortless gain.
She had originally only come to scout the white-haired queen’s situation but hadn’t expected to run into Fire Phoenix.
She wasn’t going to make a move right away.
Why should she?

Let Fire Phoenix and her subordinates wear down the horde of zombies a bit more, and wear down her own stamina as well.
When both sides were battered and bruised, or the moment Fire Phoenix collapsed from exhaustion, she would go out and clean up the mess.
An elemental wielder’s skin of at least Excellent quality, obtained so easily.
It was practically a gift from the heavens.
Lin Fan settled back down, adjusted into a more comfortable position, and raised the binoculars again.
She was now like a spectator in a VIP seat, enjoying a bloody gladiatorial combat.
She waited patiently.
Waiting for the moment her prey was at its weakest.
On the battlefield, Fire Phoenix unleashed her flames several more times, successfully repelling a few of the zombies’ fierce assaults.
But her movements had clearly slowed, and her breathing grew heavier.
Seven or eight of her team members had already fallen.
Despair was written on everyone’s face.
“Sister Feng! We can’t hold on much longer!” a burly man holding a shield roared. There was a gash on his arm so deep the bone was visible.
“Hold on a little longer!” Fire Phoenix gritted her teeth, her voice hoarse. “Their assault is weakening! We have a chance to break out!”
From her vantage point on the hill, Lin Fan could see clearly.
The assault wasn’t weakening at all.
The white-haired queen was just playing a game of cat and mouse.
She was controlling the horde of zombies, besieging them at a leisurely pace, slowly grinding down the survivors’ stamina and will.
Like a cruel hunter toying with prey caught in a trap.
“Sister Feng! Look over there!”
A sharp-eyed survivor suddenly pointed into the distance with a cry of alarm.

Fire Phoenix looked in the direction he was pointing.
Atop the military camp’s watchtower, a figure had appeared at some unknown time.
A woman in a long white dress with a head of long, silver hair.
She stood there quietly, looking down with cold indifference at the slaughter below from a great distance.
It was the zombie queen!
Seeing her appear, the hearts of all the survivors sank to the bottom.
An aura of despair completely enveloped them.
Lin Fan saw the white-haired woman too.
Her heart began to race again.
Two top-grade prey had actually appeared before her at the same time today.
However, she knew very well that now was not the time for the white-haired woman.
It was better to secure Fire Phoenix first.
Just then, Fire Phoenix made an unexpected decision.
“Everyone! Charge with me! The target is that woman!”
She had actually given up on breaking out and was instead leading her remaining people in a desperate charge toward the watchtower.
“Courting death.”
Lin Fan shook her head.
As expected, the white-haired woman merely lifted her hand slightly.
The horde of zombies, which had still been besieging them, instantly parted to form a channel, then slammed into Fire Phoenix’s team from the flanks like two closing iron pincers.
An even more brutal slaughter had begun.
