Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 85 – Brotherhood Rivalries
Zhang Jie’s expression instantly darkened.
He slowly stood up, his right hand subconsciously resting on the hilt of the sword at his waist.
“Mao Shi?”
Zhang Jie’s voice was low, but Lin Fan could hear the suppressed anger within it.
“What is he doing here?”
Liu Qiang swallowed.
“He said… he said it’s about yesterday’s Level 2 Crystal.”
“He brought over thirty men.”
“They’re blocking the gate right now, demanding to see you by name.”
Zhang Jie took a deep breath.
He turned to look at Lin Fan.
“Ms. Lei Li, my apologies.”
“It seems our conversation will have to be cut short for now.”
Lin Fan stood up, the hem of her black dress falling naturally.
“It’s no matter.”
Her voice was calm.
“I happen to want to see for myself the other third-stage Evolved beings of Jiangcheng.”
Zhang Jie was taken aback for a moment.
Then he gave a wry smile.
“Then you might be disappointed.”
“Mao Shi… has a rather extreme personality.”
“And he has always looked down on me.”
A faint, almost imperceptible arc formed on Lin Fan’s lips.
“That makes it even more interesting.”
The three of them went downstairs together.
Walking out of the office building, Lin Fan saw the situation at the stronghold’s entrance.
Over thirty fully armed men were lined up neatly outside the industrial park’s main gate.
Their equipment was excellent.
Uniform camouflage, brand-new assault rifles, and even two light machine guns.
And at the very front of this group stood a burly, bald man.
He was one meter ninety tall, with the build of a tiger and the back of a bear.
His bare upper body was a mass of knotted muscles, his skin a strange bronze color.
He stood with his arms crossed, a disdainful sneer on his face.

This was Mao Shi.
One of the three great third-stage Evolved beings of Jiangcheng.
Zhang Jie walked to the main gate, looking at Mao Shi through the iron bars.
“Senior Brother.”
His voice was calm.
“What brings you to my territory?”
Mao Shi grinned, revealing a set of white teeth.
“Junior Brother, stop pretending.”
“You know exactly what happened yesterday.”
“My men discovered that Level 2 mutated Zombie first. The Crystal should have been mine.”
“But your men snatched it.”
Zhang Jie frowned.
“That Zombie was in a neutral zone.”
“According to the tripartite agreement, whoever kills it, gets it.”
“My men were more skilled. What’s the problem?”
Mao Shi’s face darkened.
“More skilled?”
He sneered.
“Zhang Jie, you’re as hypocritical as ever.”
“It was clearly your men who used despicable means.”
“And now you’re here acting all high and mighty?”
Zhang Jie’s hand gripped the hilt of his sword tightly.
“Mao Shi, watch your words.”
“The three factions of Jiangcheng have always kept to themselves.”
“Are you trying to start a conflict by bringing so many men to my place today?”
Mao Shi laughed heartily.
“A conflict?”
“Junior Brother, you’re overthinking it.”
“I only came today to take back what belongs to me.”
“Hand over that Level 2 Crystal, and I’ll leave immediately.”
Zhang Jie shook his head.
“Impossible.”
“I’ve already used that Crystal.”

A murderous glint flashed in Mao Shi’s eyes.
“Used it?”
“Then you’ll pay for it with your life!”
The moment the words left his mouth.
Mao Shi stomped his foot violently.
“Boom!”
The ground trembled.
His entire body shot toward the gate like a cannonball.
Zhang Jie was prepared.
He drew his longsword, its blade glinting coldly in the sunlight.
“Open the gate!”
Zhang Jie shouted to the guards behind him.
The iron-barred gate slowly opened.
Mao Shi charged in.
His fist flew straight toward Zhang Jie’s face.
Zhang Jie sidestepped, sweeping his longsword horizontally.
“Clang!”
The blade struck Mao Shi’s arm, creating a sound of metal colliding.
Only a faint white mark was left on Mao Shi’s skin.
“Haha! Junior Brother, your sword is as weak and powerless as ever!”
Mao Shi threw a backhand punch.
Zhang Jie raised his sword to block.
The immense force knocked him back several steps.
“Copper Wall, Iron Bastion!”
Mao Shi let out a low roar.
His skin instantly became even harder, taking on a bronze-like luster.
This was the ability he had gained after his third evolution.
His defense was so strong that not even a rocket launcher could penetrate it.
Zhang Jie took a deep breath.
He gripped his sword with both hands, and a faint white light began to appear on the blade.
“Sword Qi!”
A crescent-shaped blade of white light shot out from the sword.
Mao Shi didn’t dodge or evade, letting the Sword Qi slash into his chest.

“Tch!”
The Sword Qi exploded against his chest, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The dust settled.
Only a faint bloody mark appeared on Mao Shi’s body, and his face wore a mocking smile.
“Is that all?”
He charged at Zhang Jie again.
The two became entangled in battle.
The wind howled from their fists, and Sword Qi flew everywhere.
Every collision produced a deafening roar.
Deep pits were stomped into the ground.
The surrounding buildings teetered on the verge of collapse from the aftershocks of the battle.
Lin Fan stood not far away, quietly observing the fight.
Her face was devoid of any expression.
But in her heart, a storm was raging.
They were too strong.
Whether it was Zhang Jie or Mao Shi, their strength far exceeded her expectations.
Zhang Jie’s Sword Qi was immensely powerful, capable of easily slicing through steel.
And Mao Shi’s defense was terrifying to the extreme.
With Lin Fan’s current strength, if she didn’t use her trump card of human-form elementalization, she could at best fight them to a standstill.
And once she exposed her true strength…
Lin Fan’s brow furrowed slightly.
She didn’t like this kind of uncertainty.
Just then.
Mao Shi’s gaze suddenly fell upon Lin Fan.
He saw the black figure standing behind the crowd.
Instantly.
Mao Shi froze.
He stopped his attack, staring blankly at Lin Fan.
In that moment, he felt his mind go blank for a second.
Too beautiful.
This woman was so beautiful it took his breath away.
Short black hair, delicate features, and a perfect figure hinted at beneath that long black dress.
Mao Shi licked his lips.

A trace of greed flashed in his eyes.
“Junior Brother.”
He suddenly spoke.
“Who is this woman?”
Zhang Jie followed his gaze, and his expression instantly turned ugly.
“She is my guest.”
“It has nothing to do with you.”
Mao Shi laughed loudly.
“A guest?”
“Junior Brother, since when did you have such good taste?”
“A top-tier beauty like this, and you’re willing to just have her as a guest?”
His gaze roamed over Lin Fan’s body without any attempt to conceal it.
“Beauty, what’s your name?”
“Want to come with me?”
“I guarantee it’ll be a hundred times better than following this waste.”
Zhang Jie’s face turned completely grim.
“Mao Shi!”
“Know your place!”
Mao Shi shot him a disdainful look.
“What? Does it hurt your feelings?”
“Junior Brother, you’re as naive as ever.”
“In this apocalypse, the strong possess everything.”
“The weak are only fit to look up to them.”
He took a step and walked toward Lin Fan.
“Beauty, my name is Mao Shi.”
“The strongest man in Jiangcheng.”
“Follow me, and you’ll have endless glory and wealth.”
Lin Fan watched him quietly.
Her face still showed no expression.
But in her eyes, a cold, murderous intent flashed.
This man.
He was courting death.
