Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water
Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water
"A promise is a promise."
Zhao Yan'er's lips curled into a smile. She released her hand, letting the token that symbolized her status as a personal disciple fall into Ning Fan's grasp.
"This bit of time, this young lady can still afford to wait."
Zhao Yan'er smiled charmingly. She turned around, leaving Ning Fan with the view of her back as her lotus steps moved lightly, gradually drifting out of his sight.
"..."
Ning Fan stared at the personal disciple token in his hand, a burning excitement flaring in his eyes.
Wasn't this infinitely better than his time at Qihua Peak?
By securing a personal disciple's token right off the bat, he could walk safely and without care throughout Yin Yang Peak, taking whatever caught his eye.
Though, he couldn't just take things to keep; he could only use them.
"Where should I go first?" Ning Fan muttered to himself.
At this moment, two paths lay before him-the Martial Skills Pavilion and the Treasure Pavilion. For any main peak, these two locations were the core repositories of fated chances made available to disciples.
But as Ning Fan thought it over, neither choice seemed particularly lucrative. Did he currently lack cultivation resources or body-tempering treasures?
Not at all.
Between the resources he had plundered from Qihua Peak and the extravagant betrothal gifts Zhao Yan'er had brought, the Spirit Stones in his possession numbered close to ten thousand.
More importantly, Ning Fan had no intention of breaking through to the next realm just yet.
Going to the Treasure Pavilion would primarily be to search for the Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water Ye Honglian had mentioned, which he needed to push the Spirit Marks on his skin past the ninety-nine mark barrier.
Yet, whether the Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water was even kept in the Treasure Pavilion remained an unknown.
As for the Martial Skills Pavilion?
For cultivation methods, he possessed the Tianxuan Heart Sutra. For martial techniques, he had mastered the Dragon Snake Evolution Hand and the Wushi Seal.
He did, however, lack a proper movement technique, so he could look around for one. Beyond that, nothing else in the Martial Skills Pavilion was of any real use to him.
"Alas."
Ning Fan sighed and shook his head helplessly.
Sometimes, being too wealthy was a burden of its own.
This was truly a sweet torment.
If any other disciple knew what was going through Ning Fan's mind, they would likely beat him to a pulp. To enter the Martial Skills Pavilion and Treasure Pavilion of Yin Yang Peak with the privileges of a personal disciple was a monumental fated chance for the vast majority of the Yin Yang Divine Sect. Yet here he was, turning his nose up at it.
"..."
Ning Fan shook his head, clearing the stray thoughts from his mind. Regardless of the actual gains, it was always right to take a look first.
"Let's head to the Treasure Pavilion first!" Ning Fan murmured.
An hour later, in front of the Treasure Pavilion on Yin Yang Peak.
Ning Fan halted his steps, gazing up at the octagonal tower that soared into the clouds. A flash of envy colored his face. Their Changming Peak possessed no such grand Treasure Pavilion; even the one at Qihua Peak looked thoroughly eclipsed by the intricately carved and painted pavilion before him.
"Please present your token," the disciple guarding the entrance requested.
"..."
Ning Fan flipped his palm, revealing Zhao Yan'er's token.
"Greetings, Senior Brother Personal Disciple!"
Upon verifying the authenticity of the token, the guard's expression instantly shifted to one of deep respect, straightening his posture as he spoke.
"Am I permitted to enter?"
"Of course. Senior Brother, with that personal disciple token, you may freely access the first two floors of the Treasure Pavilion. Should you require entry to the third floor, you will need a handwritten edict from the Peak Master."
"Understood."
Satisfied with the answer, Ning Fan stepped into the Treasure Pavilion. It was the middle of the day, and the building was quite crowded with disciples.
Naturally, the treasures housed within were no ordinary items. Exchanging for them required either an immense amount of sect contribution points or Spirit Stones.
"..."
Ning Fan strolled past rows of display shelves packed with treasures. He could distinctly perceive that the Yin Yang Peak's collection far surpassed Qihua Peak's in both quantity and quality.
Unfortunately, he could not carry these treasures out of the building; he could only consume or utilize them on-site. For the current Ning Fan, they held little practical value.
After combing through the entire first floor without finding any sign of the Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water, Ning Fan remained unperturbed. The treasures scattered across heaven and earth were beyond counting. To find one specific liquid among millions was a daunting task; coming up empty-handed was only natural, mirroring the frequent disappointments of life.
"..."
Ning Fan approached the restriction shielding the stairs to the second floor. As he held up the token, a beam of spiritual light shot out from it and struck the barrier. The light curtain rippled smoothly before turning completely transparent, allowing Ning Fan to step through.
On the second floor, the items grew significantly rarer. Ning Fan even spotted a few Top Grade Xuan-level treasures, causing his eyes to burn with momentary desire.
However, keeping his ultimate goal in mind, he looked past the rare artifacts and focused entirely on identifying any liquid-type resources.
Regrettably, there were none.
Tsk.
Ning Fan clicked his tongue softly, a trace of disappointment lingering in his heart as he turned to leave the building.
"Um, Senior Brother!"
Just as Ning Fan was about to exit the main doors, a voice called out to him. Turning around, he saw it was the same guarding disciple from before.
"Is there a matter?" Ning Fan raised an eyebrow.
"Well, Senior Brother, are you perhaps looking for a specific treasure? I have guarded this pavilion for a long time. If you tell me what you need, I might be able to guide you,"
the disciple offered, clearly eager to curry favor with a personal disciple.
"Heh."
Ning Fan grinned.
The Spirit-Nurturing Divine Water was a fluid, making it highly distinct. He had meticulously scanned the entire repository; if it wasn't on the shelves, it simply wasn't there. There was no chance he had overlooked it.
Even so, he replied, "I am looking for a specific resource-a liquid that contains an immense amount of pure Spiritual Qi. It must be perfectly fresh and entirely free of contamination."
With that, Ning Fan looked at the guard, though he didn't harbor much hope. Sure enough, the disciple did not give an immediate answer, his face twisting in hesitation.
Ning Fan shrugged. "Do not trouble yourself. I have already searched the premises and found nothing."
He began to walk away.
But a moment later, the guard spoke up again. "Wait, Senior Brother... It is not entirely absent."
"Oh?"
"Why don't you check the various spiritual plants and heavenly herbs stored within the pavilion? The Heavenly Dew that condenses upon their leaves and roots... could that be what you are searching for?"
"..."
Ning Fan stopped dead in his tracks. He turned his head back with mechanical stiffness, his expression freezing in a daze as a sudden realization flashed through his mind.
After a long pause, Ning Fan slammed a palm against his forehead.
Damn it.
Of course! It was right there all along!
