“Tomonori!” I instantly reached out.

“Aikawa!” she shouted back, her arm stretching toward me as the crowd crushed in around her.

If I stayed in line, I’d never reach her. I stepped out without hesitation and grabbed her arm.

But the human tide was too strong. The men in black surged forward like they’d lost their minds. Something was going on. From the scattered shouts I caught, it sounded like some rare book was about to sell out. If it just sold out already, maybe they’d all calm down.

Using my zombie strength, I yanked hard on Tomonori’s arm. Her body nearly lifted off the ground, but I managed to pull her free. I held her close and let out a deep breath.

Whew. Thank God. I didn’t lose her.

When I tightened my grip, something soft pressed against me through her winter clothes—her surprisingly generous chest. Oh. Marvelous.
