A volley of fireballs shot toward Purrinkazan, exploding on impact. A utility pole shattered and house walls blew to dust, but none hit their target.

Seeing that, Lilia began reciting a spell, her voice clear and commanding, “Hold blue flame to your right.”

Purrinkazan’s ears twitched. “First incantation confirmed. Spell unlocked. Mew!”

Not to be outdone, Tomonori chanted too. “Unseal the frozen heart.”

“First incantation confirmed. Spell unlocked.” Vinaigrette spread both arms wide.

“Carry red flame in your left,” Lilia continued on with her incantation.

“Second incantation confirmed. Flame burst, feline mode.” Purrinkazan crouched on all fours, opening its mouth wide.

“That which would turn even the breath of the gods into a blizzard,” Tomonori followed.

“Second incantation confirmed. Cooling sequence complete.”

“Burn away eternity. Infinity Inferno!”

“Final incantation confirmed, mew! Fierce as fire.”

The instant those words left their lips, Purrinkazan’s mouth erupted in
