I switched trains and finally made it back to my neighborhood.

On the way home, I took out my phone and called a number. Honestly, I was terrified to do it. What if the person on the other end didn’t listen either?

That fear kept me from calling until now.

“Hello, you’ve reached Matellis Magic School.”

The voice was gentle and slow and lovely—Big Teach.

“Big Teach? It’s me. Ayumu Aikawa.”

“Who… are you?”

So even Big Teach didn’t remember me.

“I’m filling in for Haruna as a Magiclad Girl.”

“But you’re not a girl,” she giggled.

This back‑and‑forth felt weirdly nostalgic.

“Big Teach. I want to meet the queen so I can break a curse. How do I do that?”

I went straight to the point. Anything else she would just forget anyway.

“Who in the world are you?”

“I’m on your side. So please—”
