I Don’t Think We Could Win – Part 03

I tried the miso soup first, hoping it would warm me up.

“Mmm.” I couldn’t help but hum.

This wasn’t just ordinary miso soup.

Seeing the look on my face, Saras said with a pleased smile, “It’s crab stock.”

Crab stock, huh? The only ingredients were a bit of wheat gluten and a little mitsuba, with no sign of crab at all.

“There’s no crab meat in it,” I said.

“It wasn’t necessary, my darling. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you look gross. In fact, crab meat would only get in the way of that subtle yet rich flavor.”

I got it. Now that she put it that way, it made sense.

The shellfish aroma was plenty strong, and the flavor sank in deep.

It was good. Really good. Haruna seemed to agree, her cowlick bouncing happily.

“These beans… don’t they smell?”

“Huh? I think they’re good.”
