“Uh, well… she’s running a really high fever. Forty-two degrees.”

Saras’s eyes sharpened instantly. She must’ve realized this wasn’t something to laugh about.

“Yeah. I’ve been cooling her forehead, using a fan, trying to make her sweat, but her temperature won’t go down at all.”

“Hm. If you want to lower body temperature, you should cool the blood.”

“Oh?”

Blood circulates through the entire body. By cooling it, you lower the overall body temperature. It made sense.

“There are no major blood vessels on the forehead. Cooling it there does very little.”

“What? But everyone does that.”

“I won’t say it’s completely useless. Health starts in the mind. When someone feels miserable from a fever, even things that could help won’t work properly. Cooling the forehead eases the mind. At the very least, it makes them feel slightly comfortable. It’s an act of kindness.”
