It took a bit of pushing, but Saras ended up joining the grand party of the Vampire Ninjas.

It was being held deep in the mountains of Mie Prefecture. The area had place names like Iga and Kōga, so it made sense there’d be a hidden village of Vampire Ninjas somewhere around here.

It was summer, so I would’ve preferred the beach, but my body didn’t exactly handle sunlight well. At least in the mountains, the thick greenery offered some protection.

After a long walk from the station, a climb up the mountain, and even a cable car, we arrived. It took a good two hours.

“We’re here.”

It was a ryokan. No matter how you looked at it, it was a traditional hot spring inn. It had that old, dignified atmosphere, like it had hosted shogi title matches or period dramas.

What exactly was going to happen here?
