Chapter 23: Transfer student, you’ve successfully caught the school bully's attention!
Qi Mu didn’t wait for the teacher to speak and consciously moved to the back of the classroom to keep company with Xu Xiaoming.
Teacher Sun had taught him in the first year of middle school, and seeing him like this, he immediately blew his beard and glared, saying, “Some students, their only merit is their self-awareness, but this self-awareness is excessive, making them shameless!”
After he said this, the classroom fell silent. Especially the kids who had been whispering before, they were so frightened that they shivered.
Oh my god, Teacher Sun is really bold. Isn’t he afraid that this little tyrant will hit him with a brick?
To everyone’s surprise, the so-called little tyrant who was rumored to have fought with the thugs on the streets and even got a girl pregnant just scratched his nose awkwardly and said, “I really didn’t mean to oversleep.”
Teacher Sun got angry, “You unintentionally overslept and still arrive half an hour late. If you did it on purpose, would you even come to class at all?”
Qi Mu pitifully said, “Next time I’ll arrive half an hour early to bring you tea and water.”
Teacher Sun snorted, “No need!” Then he turned around and continued writing on the blackboard.
The new students were utterly confused… This didn’t quite match the rumors, didn’t it? Wasn’t it said that when the little tyrant lost his temper, he even beat up the teachers?
Xu Xiaoming whispered, “Where’s Yin Xiuzhu?”
Qi Mu replied happily, “Went to the administration office to get something.”
Xu Xiaoming said, “Our class has fifty-six students, and it’s packed full. Where is he going to sit?”
Qi Mu glanced at him sideways, “What do you think?”
Xu Xiaoming felt wronged, “I knew it, you heartless guy. Now that you have Yin Xiuzhu, you don’t want me anymore!”
Qi Mu comforted him, “Xu Xiaoming, you’re not a kid anymore. It’s time for you to leave Daddy and live independently.”
Xu Xiaoming, eyes brimming with tears, missed Fang Xiaopang from Class 1 dearly.
As the class was about to end, Yin Xiuzhu still hadn’t returned. Xu Xiaoming asked again, “Why isn’t he here yet?”
Qi Mu replied, “Maybe he still has some procedures to complete?”
Xu Xiaoming, naturally pessimistic, said, “I wonder… could Yin Xiuzhu have gone to Class 2 instead?”
Qi Mu’s heart skipped a beat, but he didn’t believe it. “He finally came back. Of course, he should be in the same class as me!”
Xu Xiaoming said, “I’m just afraid he might not have a choice. Our class has an even number, and Class 2 has an odd number.”
Qi Mu gave him a thump on the head, “If you’re so good at counting, why do you still fail math exams!”
In the last five minutes, Qi Mu was so anxious he couldn’t stand still against the wall. He kept shifting and squirming like he had fleas, unable to stay calm.
Teacher Sun threw a piece of chalk at him and mocked, “Some students, it seems, only have the dismissal bell in their heads. As soon as class is about to end, they start itching to ring it, right?”
Qi Mu raised his hand, “Teacher, I need to pee!”
The class burst into muffled laughter. Teacher Sun threw another piece of chalk at him, “Hold it in!”
Though his tone was stern, the corners of his mouth curved slightly… This brat, if he were my grandson, I’d grab him and give him a good spanking until his butt blossomed.
Finally, class ended. Qi Mu dashed out of the classroom like a gust of wind, intending to go to the administration office to check on things. But before he even reached the stairs, he heard the suppressed whispers of the girls next door.
“The transfer student is so handsome!”
“Seems like he’s not actually a transfer. He was originally from our school but took a year off for some reason.”
“Took a year off and can still go straight to the second year of middle school?”
“I heard he’s really good at studying, and the teachers made an exception for him.”
“Tall, handsome, and smart, oh my, where did this god come from!”
“Apparently, his family is also very rich…”
“Oh my gosh, is someone like that real?”
“Yes, his name is Yin Xiuzhu.” Suddenly, a male voice appeared, startling the girls. They turned around to see the school bully baring his small tiger teeth, grinning mischievously.
The girls’ faces paled, and they collectively took a step back.
Qi Mu stepped forward and asked, “Is he in your class?”
Tyrant Qi’s “notoriety” spread far and wide; even the boys were afraid of him, not to mention the girls. They nodded and said, “Y-Yes.”
Qi Mu frowned and said discontentedly, “What’s going on here?”
With that, he left. The girls looked at each other, their eyes conveying the same message: “It’s over! The new transfer student has caught the school bully’s attention!”
As the saying goes, good news never goes beyond the gate, but bad news spreads a thousand miles. Due to some incidents in the first year of middle school, Qi Mu had already been demonized by his classmates. Now, with his frowning and irritated expression, it was hard for people not to overthink.
Yin Xiuzhu was more handsome than Qi Mu, better at studying, and came from a wealthy family… Such an outstanding person was sure to attract the school bully’s attention, and he would definitely bully him!
The girls even considered seeking help from a teacher. But then they remembered that Qi Mu had even beaten up a teacher before, so they shrank back.
It was over… The charming prince took a year off probably because of health issues. If the school bully punched him, would the charming prince collapse in the wind, and then transfer away from this sad place?
The girls’ hearts broke just by imagining this scenario, and it was clear that their hearts would continue to break in the days to come.
Qi Mu was really upset, his face dark as he arrived at the door of Class 2. He immediately saw Yin Xiuzhu. Xu Xiaoming’s pessimistic prediction had come true—Yin Xiuzhu didn’t come to Class Three, but went to Class Two instead!
The students in Class 2 gasped in fear when they saw Qi Mu at the door. Seeing him staring “menacingly” at Yin Xiuzhu, they thought things were about to get bad!
Qi Mu didn’t care that this was another classroom; he walked straight in and approached Yin Xiuzhu’s desk.
Yin Xiuzhu was no longer the timid “little girl” hiding behind Qi Mu from years ago. He was calm and composed. Even though he had just arrived in an unfamiliar environment, he had quickly gotten acquainted with the people around him.
When Qi Mu approached, Yin Xiuzhu was organizing his textbooks.
“What are you doing here?” Qi Mu asked in a low voice.
Yin Xiuzhu was slightly taken aback and looked up at him.
Qi Mu, annoyed, said, “You…”
Before he could finish, the bell rang, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for Qi Mu to stay in Class Two during their class time.
Yin Xiuzhu stood up and whispered, “I’ll come find you after class.”
Qi Mu thought for a moment and said, “Wait until after school. I’ll meet you at the clock tower.”
Yin Xiuzhu looked at him and said, “Okay.”
Qi Mu walked away feeling glum. He couldn’t say much: first, because this was another class, and second, he knew his reputation wasn’t great and didn’t want to bring trouble to Yin Xiuzhu, who had just entered a new environment.
Though he didn’t say much, every word was a feast for the gossip squad in Class Two, enough for them to concoct an entirely new world in their minds.
Note 1: Damn, Tyrant Qi has declared war!
Note 2: Impressive, the transfer student accepted the challenge!
Note 3: Clock tower, eleven-thirty, settle it once and for all!
Note 4: The transfer student looks refined; who would have thought he’s such a tough guy?
Note 5: I’m rooting for the transfer student; I think he’s awesome.
Note 6: No way, no one can beat my Tyrant Qi.
Note 7: Back then, I thought Tyrant Qi would bow down in the third year, but he ended up beating Wang Zhuo until he transferred schools!
Note 8: Back then, I thought Tyrant Qi would get expelled for beating up a teacher, but the teacher packed up and went home instead!
Notes 9 to 19: Tyrant Qi is awesome, Tyrant Qi is mighty, Tyrant Qi rules supreme!
Qi Mu slumped over his desk as soon as he returned to the classroom. Xu Xiaoming, cautiously, said, “There’s nothing we can do about it. Our class is full.”
Qi Mu turned to look at him. “How about you apply to transfer to Class 1? You can hang out with Fang Junqi.”
Xu Xiaoming’s eyes almost popped out. “Why don’t you just ask me to die?” Class 1 is the honors class, full of students who have won awards in math competitions. With Xu Xiaoming’s level, even being at the bottom would be an insult to their zero-tolerance for underperformance.
Qi Mu sighed deeply. “How did it come to this…”
Xu Xiaoming tried to comfort him, “It’s okay, we’re still close by.”
Qi Mu pressed his face against the desk, melancholy, “I miss him. You have no idea how much I’ve missed him this past year.”
Xu Xiaoming was speechless… How was he supposed to respond to that? Even his eighteen ex-girlfriends had never said something like that to him!
After a while of sighing and lamenting, Qi Mu eventually succumbed to the call of sleep.
Finally, when noon dismissal came, a refreshed Qi Mu sprang up and went to the door of Class 2.
Class 2 was still in session. Qi Mu glanced at the teacher on the podium, who was passionately extending the lesson, and realized he had some time to wait.
Forget it, he thought. I’ll go buy a drink for Yin Xiuzhu first! Qi Mu headed straight to the school shop.
It is said that Xu Xiaoming was woken up by the noise.
“GOGOGO, go watch the big show!”
“What’s going on?”
“The transfer student and Qi Mu have a duel scheduled at the clock tower, about to battle it out for eight hundred rounds!”
“Is that for real? The transfer student is that brave?”
“Really! The transfer student looks pretty formidable. Qi Mu even went to the convenience store early to buy some sports drinks in preparation!”
Xu Xiaoming doubted whether he had just been dreaming, wondering if he was hearing things.
Yin Xiuzhu and Qi Mu battling it out for eight hundred rounds?
Where are they fighting? In bed?
