ALBEN (PRITANGELAND)

The Commonwealth of Alben and the Isles is referred to as Pritangeland in the Alber dialect. Alben has been a place of natural wealth, splendour, and vision, which has drawn ambitious men to its shores and verdant fields for as long as civilisation has endured. Invaders and migrants alike came and went, blending the local cultures with those of the main continent off which it lingers, and it has created a melting pot of peoples from all around the world. Before the contemporary age, the Romer conquered the islands, then came Sachsonner migrants, Skanner farmers, and finally the Franker warriors. However, the constant attacks waged against the isles eventually forced the neighbourly disputes to end, and a new maritime power emerged, which the Albers prided themselves on. However, like many empires, the Commonwealth did not endure. The corruption of the government and the military turned the nation into a hunk of rust preyed on by new empires springing up around the world. However, the seas surrounding it protected its weakness, ensuring it remained the epicentre of cultural exchange.
