Chapter 11: Old Spinster

Relying on a Teleportation Scroll, Hu Feng followed Ophelia and the others to rapidly arrive at Wuhai Town, which was tens of thousands of miles away.

The environment of the Sunset Wasteland was harsh, and demons ran rampant; people relied on large and small castles or settlements to survive and reproduce with difficulty. Wuhai Town was called a town, but in reality, it was just a slightly larger settlement. Its area and scale were far inferior to the majestic Lich Castle. However, with people coming and going, although it was small, it had everything necessary. One could often see tough Demon Hunters and merchant teams entering and leaving; it was exceptionally lively.

To the east of Wuhai Town, there was a unique high tower, towering into the clouds, built entirely from white thousand-layer stone. The runes engraved on the walls gave off traces of holy fluctuations, and one could hear waves of ethereal holy singing from a great distance.

Saintess Convent!

Under Ophelia’s lead, Hu Feng walked into the holy Monastery and sat down in a Side Hall. Through the window, one could see Nuns wearing white robes walking gracefully nearby; their loose robes could not hide their slender figures, and their indistinct silhouettes were even more alluring.

At the top of the high tower, there was a translucent and glittering Holy Bead. Its volume was not large, not much bigger than a basketball, but its surging energy fluctuations could be sensed clearly from dozens of miles away, as if a massive Crystal Vein was sealed inside. With just one look, Hu Feng was deeply attracted to this Crystal Ball.

“What pure energy, this Holy Bead is mine!”

Sensing the surging energy fluctuations of the Crystal Ball, Hu Feng slowly opened his eyes. The Magic Crystal inside his body was restless, wishing it could immediately devour the energy within the Crystal Ball completely!

Every time he broke through a bottleneck, he needed an exceptionally large amount of energy. During this period of sweeping through the area, the Lich Castle had obtained many crystals, but unfortunately, their quality was not high, which was merely a drop in the bucket for him. To quickly break through the bottleneck, he had to devour a massive amount of energy.

Just as Hu Feng was pondering how to quickly take possession of the Holy Bead, Ophelia, who had left not long ago, walked in with a difficult look on her face. “Hu Feng, under normal circumstances, the Saintess Convent does not allow any males to stay overnight; but you are different. As a Missionary who has made great sacrifices, you should receive the courtesy of our Monastery. I have tried my best, but regrettably…”

Opportunity favors those nearby; not being able to stay here, Hu Feng was a bit disappointed, but his face showed indifference. “Teacher Ophelia, it is fine. I can just find an empty space in the settlement to stay. Anyway, over these years, I have gotten used to wandering in the Wasteland!”

“It is not that you cannot stay here, it is just… just that Elder Akashic, who has been in secluded Cultivation for these past few years, suddenly walked out for some reason and strongly objected, requiring you to pass a small test before you can stay!” Ophelia’s face turned slightly red, seemingly a bit uneasy and guilty.

“An Elder of the Monastery? Could it be that my identity has been exposed?” Hu Feng felt a chill in his heart. Before even stepping into the Saintess Convent, he had sensed several power ful auras and instinctively felt a strong sense of danger.

The Saintess Convent was a special institution under the Divine Court, specifically cultivating pure Saintesses in various places, and was incompatible with the evil Undead. There were many Strongers stationed in every Monastery; if they discovered the Undead aura inside him, it would be trouble!

After a moment of silence, Hu Feng quickly calmed down, doing his best to restrain the Death Aura inside him, and followed Ophelia striding towards the Saintess Hall. For a Lich like him, the Monastery and the Divine Court were both dangerous Forbidden Lands, but having managed to sneak in, how could he leave empty-handed? He wanted to see what kind of dangerous place was waiting for him!

Unlike other places, the Saintess Hall was carved full of runes and various Angel reliefs. As soon as he stepped through the hall door, a faint hymn came from the Void. Inside the hall stood more than a dozen young Nuns in white robes, standing in a circle around a profound Magic Array. Above the hall sat a white-haired old woman with a cold face and closed eyes, as if resting them or meditating quietly. Standing beside her was an ice-pure white-robed Nun with an indifferent and proud expression, ignoring Hu Feng’s arrival.

Her figure was tall and slender, her hair black as ink, and a pair of slender white feet were revealed under the hem of her robe. Although her expression was indifferent, against the backdrop of the white robe, she appeared even more ice-pure, like a goddess who did not eat the food of common mortals. Although he had seen many beauties of all kinds, Hu Feng could not help but take a few more glances.

“Elder Akashic, this is the Missionary Hu Feng we met in the Wasteland.” Ophelia led Hu Feng before the old woman and bowed in salute.

The old woman opened her eyes, her sharp gaze sweeping over Hu Feng like a cold wind. “Oh, so you are Hu Feng? I heard you were imprisoned by an evil Lich for a long time. I find it strange; how could an evil Lich easily let go of a Missionary of the Divine Court!”

The old woman’s face was cold, and her whole body radiated a sharp Killing Intent, as if the Hu Feng standing before her was not a devout Missionary, but an evil Undead. Her entire body, and even every strand of hair, radiated surging Magic Power fluctuations; her strength was unfathomable.

“It is very simple. To force out the so-called Racial Divine Realm, if I did not speak for a day, that evil old Lich would not dare to really kill me!” Hu Feng smiled bitterly, then continued: “After enduring endless torture, I thought I would never have the hope of leaving the vast Sunset Wasteland in this life, and would just die in that abandoned castle. Unexpectedly, the evil old Lich ended up dying under the sword of a passing Dark Knight, while I luckily survived!”

“Oh, so you really know the Language of God? Write a few ancient characters for me to see! Theresa, bring him paper and pen.” The old woman’s voice was sharp, her expression seemed a bit excited, and she instructed the indifferent Nun standing beside her, named Theresa.

“Alright!”

Hu Feng took the paper and pen, pondered for a moment, looked at the cold and serious Elder Akashic and secretly smiled, then quickly wrote the three large characters ‘Old Spinster’ on the white paper. His strokes were flowing like water, fast indeed, but the handwriting was scrawled and terrible to look at. If it were a calligraphy exam, he would definitely fail and have to retake it, but in the eyes of the many Nuns, it was simply magnificent. Even the indifferent Nun Theresa looked solemn and carefully presented the white paper to the high-and-mighty Elder Akashic.

“Mm, not bad, it is indeed the square characters passed down by the Ancient God Clan. Hu Feng, what do these characters mean?” Looking at the three large scrawled characters, Elder Akashic nodded, and her face finally softened a little.

“In the Language of God, this is the best blessing for a woman, wishing her to be as holy and beautiful as an Angel, with a lifespan as long as heaven and earth!” Hu Feng was respectful, but in his heart, he secretly cursed Elder Akashic as a ten-thousand-year-old spinster who would never marry. Looking at this old woman’s face, he felt very displeased.

“Mm, every Nun is a holy and beautiful Angel!”

Elder Akashic, flattered by Hu Feng, smiled and solemnly folded the white paper with the three big characters ‘Old Spinster’ written on it to keep close to her body, preparing to take it out and ponder over it slowly when she had time later, hoping that one day she could comprehend the heaven-reaching laws left by the Ancient God Clan. After a pause, she said indifferently: “Nuns, light the holy fire and welcome the devout Missionary. May the baptism of the Main God forgive the sins of every one of us!”

Elder Akashic waved her sleeve, and the many Nuns surrounded Hu Feng and began to chant; holy and loud singing echoed in the hall. The Crystals embedded in the walls lit up one by one, emitting dazzling light, and the Magic Array on the ground began to rotate rapidly. Soon, the Holy Bead at the top of the Saintess Hall emitted a majestic Holy Energy, transforming into a pillar of light that enveloped Hu Feng’s entire body. The surging Holy Energy permeated through every pore of his body, endless like a tide, seeping into every inch of his skin and veins, driving out and refining the Undead aura within him.

Not good!

Sensing the changes within his body, Hu Feng appeared calm on the surface, but secretly he felt like he was facing a formidable enemy.

Holy Energy and Death Aura had completely different attributes and were incompatible. Under the illumination of such surging Holy Energy, if he was not careful, he would dissipate like smoke, purified until not even a trace remained. Glancing at the cold-faced Elder Akashic, Hu Feng quickly understood the evil intentions of this old spinster.
