Chapter 25: Dance of the Demons
Chapter 25: Dance of the Demons
Suddenly hit by the charge of a large group of Wandering Hunters, the guards of Wuhai Town fell into chaos at once.
Some retreated in panic, some rushed forward desperately, and some had weak legs and blank minds… they could not organize a strong resistance at all. The elite Faith-guarding Knights fought to the death to resist, but unfortunately, without the coordination and command of a Commander, they fought on their own in a hurry, and their formation was quickly scattered by the experienced Wandering Hunters. Behind them, many Nuns, merchants, and civilians with no combat power screamed and fled in all directions, instantly breaking up the formation of most of the guards. The soaring thick smoke and the rapidly spreading fire made every guard feel cold hands and feet.
The situation was lost!
In the face of an unprecedented disaster, some people rushed forward fearlessly, using their bodies to block the slaughter of the Wandering Hunters; others showed the ugly side of human nature, revealing their ferocious fangs and claws to take advantage of the situation.
Some Demon Hunters suddenly rushed out of the darkness, hacking the defenseless caravans to death with chaotic blades and abducting a large amount of treasure; some thugs even attacked the panicked civilians, just to snatch a few ordinary Crystals; some were even more heinous, dragging some young and beautiful women into the darkness in the chaos…
Dance of the demons!
What a mess!
“Despicable and fallen souls are destined to sink forever! I look up to heaven from the endless Fallen Abyss!”
Hu Feng recited the chapter of redemption from the Holy Code in a low voice. He wore a pitch-black and wide Ghost King Cloak on his head, revealing only a pair of cold eyes, and walked silently in the darkness. With a gentle swipe of the sharp Dark Magic Pen, a thug lost all his life! It was not until his figure disappeared into the darkness that the dull sound of the body hitting the ground and the woman’s scream came from behind!
“Theresa, let’s go!”
Looking up at the settlement guards who were about to collapse completely and the many helpless civilians, Hu Feng shook his head. He met Nun Theresa, who had been waiting in the darkness for a long time, and went straight to the Crystal High Tower of the Monastery. In the face of such a sudden catastrophe, even a savior could not save everyone!
As the confidant of Elder Akashic, Nun Theresa had unimpeded access to many places. Coupled with Hu Feng’s identity as a Divine Official, the two encountered no interception along the way. Most of the guards manning the checkpoints had been urgently transferred to the front line, and the remaining ones were absent-minded, focusing their attention on the battle between the settlement and the Wandering Hunters.
“My Lords, please stop!” After ascending to the sixth floor of the Crystal High Tower, the two were finally blocked.
On both sides of the gate carved with Angel reliefs, there stood a burly guard on the left and one on the right. They looked straight ahead, turning a blind eye to the turmoil outside the Crystal High Tower. They were covered in heavy armor from head to toe, revealing only a pair of eyes without any emotion. They stood motionless like two puppets. The heavy swords in their hands clanged together as they coldly blocked the way of the two.
The holy and magnificent Crystal High Tower was the symbol of the Monastery. It had nine floors from top to bottom, and the guards became stricter the higher one went. Usually, ordinary people had to stop at the Saintess Hall on the third floor. After being promoted to a Tier 1 Divine Official, Hu Feng also had to stop at the Angel Altar on the sixth floor. Here, even Theresa could not take another step forward.
“By the secret order of the Grand Elder, Nun Theresa and Divine Official Hu Feng are transferred to strengthen the defense of the Crystal High Tower. Those who disobey will be beheaded!”
Theresa had a cold face. According to the previous plan, she spoke while solemnly shaking open a piece of white cloth with a few lines of small writing on it, which was almost identical to the handwriting of Elder Akashic. The two heavy-armored guards glanced at it in surprise, but before they could look closely, a sudden severe pain came from their chests, and they quickly lost consciousness.
Hu Feng, who was prepared, struck successfully. He used Magic to seal the space within ten steps, not leaking any breath of the attack. After devouring the power and Soul of the two guards, he slowly pushed open the heavy stone door, wiping the blood off the Dark Magic Pen casually as he walked!
After his body was greatly strengthened, the speed and power he could erupt instantly had far surpassed that of an ordinary Demon Hunter. Wearing the Ghost King Cloak, which concealed his breath and energy fluctuations, his movements were even more silent. Although the heavy armor on the two guards had been tempered a thousand times, how could it stop the sharp tip of the Dark Magic Pen!
Pushing open the heavy stone door, the two felt their eyes light up.
The spacious space was divided into more than a hundred compartments, each containing a large variety of resources. There was heavy mercury, rare agarwood, glittering Crystals… the quantity was even greater than what was stored in the treasury of the Vampire Underground Palace.
“The Divine Court is indeed the Divine Court. A small Monastery stores so many good things. They are really filthy rich!” Hu Feng exclaimed in spite of himself. He stirred the Magic Crystal in his body and put all the precious resources into the Dark Ring, scraping the place clean. After searching every corner, he walked up to the eighth floor without changing his expression. Unexpectedly, he was stopped by two guards again!
Unlike the previous two guards, this time it was two old men. One had white hair and held an ancient Magic Staff, with unfathomable Magic Power within his body. The other had long, slender fingers and carried a thin sword as thin as paper. He sat cross-legged on the ground with his eyes slightly closed, as if he was wandering in the Void, or resting with his eyes closed.
A Magician and a Swordsman at the Peak of Tier 9?
Hu Feng’s face remained unchanged, but he was secretly surprised. After devouring the power of the Vampire King, dealing with a Low-rank Magician or Swordsman was no problem. However, dealing with a Magician or Swordsman at the Peak of Tier 9 was difficult, let alone fighting two at once!
The Peak of Tier 9… every time one breaks through a level of realm, combat power increases by leaps and bounds!
For a small Magic Apprentice, challenging a Low-rank Magician or Swordsman across ranks was already very difficult, and one in ten thousand could not do it; challenging a Magician or Swordsman at the Peak of Tier 9 was simply impossible! Even some of the peerless Evil Prodigies from Bright Summit or Purgatory City probably weren’t this terrifying when they first started their Cultivation!
Facing the pressure of the two Strongers, Hu Feng still looked calm, but Nun Theresa beside him could not help but shiver. Cold sweat oozed from her forehead, and she became more and more nervous. She had not even approached yet but had already aroused the vigilance of the guards. The Swordsman sitting cross-legged on the ground suddenly opened his eyes, but unexpectedly, what reflected in his pupils was a sharp cold light!
There was no ear-piercing sound of breaking through the air, no fierce Killing Intent, and no breath or energy fluctuation. This cold light seemed to stab out from the Void, suddenly appearing right before his eyes!
Realizing something was wrong, Hu Feng did not hesitate to strike directly.
Kill within ten steps!
He instantly unfolded his Dark Wings, pounced on the Swordsman sitting cross-legged on the ground while wearing the Ghost King Cloak, and stabbed the sharp tip of the pen straight into his brow. This vigilant Swordsman posed the greatest threat, so he had to be killed at all costs. Only by killing him could they concentrate their strength to deal with the Magician watching covetously from the side!
