Chapter 1: The Landlady:

Yue Bing didn’t do well in high school.

After graduation, he decided to drop out and work, barely making ends meet. But Yue Bing wasn’t originally from this world. At the age of twelve, he was suddenly killed by a falling meteorite. Then, he found himself in a place called Blue Star.

In his previous life, he was an orphan, and in this world, he remained one, raised in an orphanage.

It was hard for a 12-year-old to find a permanent home, so no wealthy, single woman ever considered adopting him. Later, a fire broke out at the orphanage, and if it hadn’t been for someone risking their life to save him, he would have died again.

Today, after delivering takeout, Yue Bing returned to his rented room, collapsed heavily onto his bed, and exhaled deeply.

“If I keep getting up early and working late like this every day, I’ll drop dead sooner or later!”

If it weren’t for some pressing needs that required money, he wouldn’t have been pushing himself so hard.

Struggling to sit up, he pulled out the wages he had just received that day. He counted the money five times. 5,200 yuan—fifty-two bills, not one more, not one less. It seemed the old, blurry-eyed cafeteria accountant was quite clear-headed when handing out wages.

He pulled out 700 yuan and put it in his pocket, then opened the drawer of his bedside table and took out a small box.

Inside was a stack of money and a small black stone, about the size of his palm.

Yue Bing took out the money and added it to the remaining 1,300 yuan, counting it again. After counting several times to make sure there was no mistake, he smiled. “Exactly 6,000 yuan, finally enough.”

After putting the money away, he picked up the black stone.

“You’re the one that killed me. Out of seven billion people, you hit me?”

He carefully examined the stone.

It was only the size of his palm, completely black, sharp at the top and wider at the bottom. The surface wasn’t smooth, full of pits and bumps, rough to the touch. This was the stone that had killed him ten years ago and had traveled with him to this world.

At first, he thought it was a meteorite, something he could sell for a good price. But when he had it appraised, sure enough, it was just an ordinary stone.

Yue Bing set the stone down and started a fire to cook himself a bowl of egg noodles.

Just as he brought the steaming noodles to the table, ready to dig in, there was a sudden knock at the door.

Yue Bing glanced at the time and wondered, “Forgot your key again? Didn’t you say there was a high school graduation party tonight? Why are you back so early?”

He set down his chopsticks and got up to answer the door.

As soon as he opened it, a figure rushed in.

“Yue Bing, it’s time to pay the rent, isn’t it? You’re three days late.”

In front of him was a young woman in her thirties, leaning against the doorframe, her fox-like, alluring eyes smiling at him.

She had a fiery figure, dressed in a tight, red dress that barely reached her thighs, revealing two long, straight legs. Her hair was tied up at the back, and a necklace with a pendant hung around her swan-like neck.

As for whether the pendant was a gem or jade, Yue Bing couldn’t see.

It was hidden well between two large curves on her chest, completely out of sight.

“Aren’t you afraid it’ll hurt you?” he thought.

The landlady had substantial assets. Hmm… in every sense of the word. She was wealthy and well-endowed—a proper rich woman. But every time Yue Bing saw her, he got a headache.

He admitted he was handsome, but she couldn’t keep hitting on him just because of that, could she? After all, he was just a 22-year-old young man who didn’t know much about life!

Yue Bing forced a smile. “Sister Huilan, can you give me a little more time? I’ll definitely pay you next month when I get my wages.”

Li Huilan eyed him up and down. Then, she suddenly raised her delicate hand, covering her lipstick-stained mouth, and smiled seductively. “Hehe, Yue Bing, why don’t you just become my godbrother?”

She glanced at the noodles on the table and continued, “Not only will I waive your rent, but I’ll also cook for you every month and make sure you stay healthy. How about that?”

“Isn’t that better than working yourself to death delivering food every day?”

Yue Bing chuckled. Became her god brother so he didn’t have to work so hard?

Did she think he didn’t know that her three husbands had all died?

The aunt downstairs said she was a vixen reincarnated. He wasn’t going to die young!

Li Huilan was indeed a rich woman, with a seductive figure and charming looks. Plus, at her age, she was like a ripe, juicy peach. But that peach wasn’t some celestial fruit; it was poisonous!

She had been married three times, and without exception, all three husbands died on their wedding night.

When Yue Bing heard this, he shuddered.

What was she, a juicer?

Once could be considered an accident. But three times, with three men dead?

Who could handle that?

Even if he ate goji berries for every meal, he couldn’t keep up with that pace!
