Chapter 29: I Will Punish You
Wen Yu's lips were swollen and wet, flushed an unnatural vivid red—the marks of being ground and plundered again and again.
"We're friends, you... if you keep this up."
"Then I'll..." Wen Yu trembled with anger, the flush spreading from the corners of his eyes to the tips of his ears.
"You'll what?" Gu Junhan let out a cold, sinister sound from his throat.
Wen Yu's neck trembled as he raised his fist and stammered, "I... I'll hit you."
Gu Junhan grabbed Wen Yu's wrist in one swift motion, looking down at him. "Xiaobao, why are your hands so soft?"
Wen Yu shook his head, trying to pull his hand back, only to realize he was no match for Gu Junhan's strength. "You—you—let go."
Gu Junhan looked at the crushed cigarette on the floor, recalling how Wen Yu had been choked by the smoke, tears streaming from his eyes.
He would teach him. Teach him everything.
"Wen Yu, once you step into my territory, there's no such thing as walking away unscathed."
The man's gloomy gaze fell heavily on Wen Yu's face, the corners of his lips even curving slightly into a forbearance that sent chills down Wen Yu's spine.
Wen Yu was intimidated by Gu Junhan, his legs pressed against the man's waist and stomach, making him uneasy. "I just want to talk to you properly. Don't touch me."
"Fine," Gu Junhan agreed readily. "Then let me tell you, Xiaobao."
"You just looked like you were asking to be bullied."
"I'm teaching you, Wen Yu."
Wen Yu's lips stung with a burning pain. "Teaching me?"
"You don't know how to fight back," Gu Junhan pushed his hips forward slightly, pressing harder against Wen Yu. "Do you know why I've been ignoring you all this time?"
Wen Yu was dazed, not noticing how ambiguous his position with Gu Junhan had become.
"You think I got bullied, think I'm a coward." Wen Yu spoke weakly.
"It's because I care about you, Xiaobao." Gu Junhan hid the darkness in his eyes. "I have the patience to watch you grow step by step, but what matters most is whether you want to change."
Wen Yu seemed to understand something. "So... you kissing me and overstepping just now was to see if I'd fight back?"
Gu Junhan lowered his head, his gaze falling on his own waist. "Yeah—"
Gu Junhan looked at the soft flesh on Wen Yu's thigh. "Xiaobao."
Wen Yu thought Gu Junhan was looking at the floor, so he gently tugged at the man's shirt corner. "I'll obediently listen to you and seriously change!"
Gu Junhan ignored the beast stirring below, gently setting him aside, and tied Wen Yu's loose shoelace for him.
"If you don't meet my expectations, Wen Yu, I will punish you."
Wen Yu felt the man grab his ankle, a ticklish sensation running through him. "What punishment?"
Gu Junhan didn't elaborate. "I'll spank you."
.
Wen Yu sneezed out of nowhere. After leaving Gu Junhan's villa, he wondered who was talking about him behind his back.
When Wen Yu went home on Sunday, Wen Baichuan told him to go find Shen Yubai and deliver the contract.
He also asked Wen Yu to go with him to look at engagement ring styles.
The Shen Corporation was located in the city center, a towering high-rise.
The front desk receptionist froze when Wen Yu said he was there to see President Shen.
Wen Yu was puzzled by her reaction, blinking his pretty eyes. "What's wrong with you?"
The receptionist shook her head and had someone escort him up right away.
"Is the fiancé here to confront Shen's first love?"
Another receptionist nearby had a quicker mouth—the words slipped out before her colleague shot her a fierce glare, and she quickly covered her mouth.
"Shh, keep your voice down!"
Wen Yu's steps faltered.
First love?
A woman in a white dress with her hair pinned up was chatting happily in Shen Yubai's office.
Wen Yu was led in and saw a woman with fair, delicate skin and understated, elegant makeup.
She was like a moon in the sky.
"Brother Yubai, Dad asked me to deliver these documents to you."
Wen Yu placed the files on the desk.
The woman in the white dress shifted beside him, smiling. "Yubai, who is this?"
"This is the Wen family's young master, Wen Yu." Shen Yubai paused, as if weighing his words. "A kid the family arranged for me."
Kid?
The woman looked at Wen Yu. He was like a young white poplar not yet fully grown, his jaw slightly set with youthful contours.
Only then did Shen Yubai realize Wen Yu was curious about who the woman was.
"Wen Yu, this is He Wanyue, the financial director of the He Group, my... college classmate." Shen Yubai's voice shifted when he said the woman's name.
Even as dense as Wen Yu was, he knew Brother Yubai had someone else in his heart.
He Wanyue stood up, giving Wen Yu a slight nod, her voice as soft as the spring breeze of March: "Young Master Wen, I've heard a lot about you."
Wen Yu forced a practiced, polite smile. "Hello, Sister He."
Shen Yubai didn't look at Wen Yu again. He flipped through the documents, his slender fingers pinching the edges of the paper, unhurried.
Wen Yu stood there, suddenly feeling the office was too vast and empty.
He had come to see Shen Yubai before. Shen Yubai would always rise from his chair, personally pour him a cup of honey water at just the right temperature, then sit beside him and ask how he'd been.
Now, things seemed different.
"That..."
Wen Yu's fingers clenched at his side, then relaxed. "My family told me to talk to you about the engagement ring style."
He Wanyue's hand froze mid-air as she was lifting her teacup at the news.
Shen Yubai didn't even blink. His voice was curt and matter-of-fact, "No need. You decide."
Wen Yu lowered his eyes. "Alright, I'll choose myself."
Wen Yu couldn't linger, so he stepped out.
He heard Shen Yubai's voice, dripping with an almost fawning softness, "Wanyue, where were we? That merger deal your conglomerate is working on..."
The woman inside let out a light laugh and said, "Why don't we grab a bite and chat?"
Wen Yu slapped his own cheeks.
Wen Yu, what are you thinking? Brother Yubai is into his first love, he wouldn't cheat!
He wouldn't leave you.
He wouldn't...
Even though he didn't have much feeling for Brother Yubai, it still felt uncomfortable.
Especially when he couldn't stop staring at his dream girl right in front of him.
