Chapter 37: Shocking Words, Wen Yu

Chapter 37: Shocking Words, Wen Yu

The night wind carried a faint scent of tobacco as it swept by.

A black car was parked under the streetlight.

A man leaned against the hood of the car, his overcoat draped loosely over his shoulders, revealing a black shirt underneath.

Gu Junhan held a cigarette between his fingers, the ember flickering in the darkness, illuminating a face with sharp, striking features.

Wen Yu's legs felt weak at the sight of Gu Junhan.

"How do you know where I live?" Wen Yu's voice was small and hoarse, like a kitten that had its tail stepped on.

Gu Junhan didn't speak right away.

He took the cigarette out of his mouth and slowly blew out a stream of smoke.

The smoke drifted away under the streetlight as he suddenly spoke, "Did you forget the lesson from last time?"

Wen Yu's face flushed red. The memory of Gu Junhan disciplining him was still fresh.

He'd cried so hard he couldn't breathe, his ass so swollen he couldn't even sit.

It was the first time he'd ever been spanked, the first time he'd felt how big Gu Junhan's hands were. When the palm landed, the knuckles had calluses—rough, like sandpaper.

Wen Yu instinctively covered his ass and took a half-step back. "I didn't do anything wrong this time."

Gu Junhan spoke softly, his tone rising at the end, almost like he was coaxing someone. "I knew about today's business from the start."

Wen Yu blinked, his lashes fluttering, his eyes stinging a little.

"You knew everything that happened today?"

"I... my dad already took care of it for me," Wen Yu's voice trembled, but he forced himself to finish. "So I didn't get bullied. You can't spank me."

The cigarette burned slowly between Gu Junhan's fingers, ash dropping to the ground.

He suddenly smiled.

He crushed the cigarette out on the car, the ember sizzling on the black paint before going out.

"Get in the car."

Wen Yu stood there like a helpless kitten while Gu Junhan stared straight at him.

Gu Junhan paused, then added, "I'm taking you somewhere."

"I'm not going to hit you."

Gu Junhan's tone was like he was coaxing a kid who was scared of pain. If anyone else heard him talk like that, they'd probably think they were seeing things.

Wen Yu hesitated for two seconds, the night wind lifting his shirt hem to reveal a sliver of skin at his waist.

Like a little rabbit walking into a wolf's den—all soft and white.

Wen Yu bent down and got in. Gu Junhan glanced at him curled up in the passenger seat.

The seatbelt was buckled wrong, all twisted and crooked across his shoulder.

How could he be so bad at taking care of himself?

Gu Junhan reached over, unbuckled the seatbelt from Wen Yu's shoulder, pulled it across, and clicked it into place.

Wen Yu didn't dare to move.

The car drove out of the city, going deeper and deeper into the outskirts.

They came to a stop at an abandoned factory.

The silence around them was eerie.

Wind howled through the broken windows.

Wen Yu got out of the car. As his feet hit the ground, his soles crunched over broken glass.

Men were standing at the entrance of the building.

Two rows of men in black stood there in perfect formation. When they saw Gu Junhan get out, they all bowed in unison.

"Master Gu."

Wen Yu's head buzzed.

Master Gu?

Wen Yu turned to glance at the man who had just buckled his seatbelt for him: overcoat still draped over his shoulders, cigarette between his fingers, face expressionless.

Gu Junhan didn't look at him. He walked inside, and Wen Yu quickly followed.

Inside the building, a man was kneeling on the ground.

His hands were tied behind his back, his hair a mess like a bird's nest, and his clothes looked familiar to Wen Yu.

The moment Wen Yu saw the man's face, it was like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over his head.

It was his cousin's husband.

Now kneeling on the ground, his face full of terror, sweat dripping down his cheeks, lips trembling.

"I'm sorry, please spare me..."

Wen Yu looked at him and realized he didn't feel the satisfaction he'd expected.

He only felt unsettled seeing his cousin's husband like this.

His fingers had been cut off.

Wen Yu instinctively looked at Gu Junhan.

Gu Junhan had already walked over to a sofa and sat down.

He crossed his legs, his overcoat hanging open, revealing the black shirt underneath.

"Wen Yu, come here."

In the vast, empty hall, Wen Yu walked toward Gu Junhan while the room full of men in black watched.

When he reached Gu Junhan, he didn't know whether to stand or sit. He stood there helplessly, head lowered.

Gu Junhan looked at him and drew him closer to his side.

"Stand here."

Wen Yu obediently stood there.

The moment his cousin-in-law met Wen Yu's gaze, he flinched as if electrocuted and started banging his head on the floor like crazy.

"Wen Yu! Wen Yu, speak up for me! I didn't mean to! I was drunk! I was really drunk! Please plead with him for me."

His head hit the concrete floor with a dull thud-thud-thud, and after just a few hits, his forehead was split open, blood running down his nose.

Wen Yu was startled and took half a step back, his arm bumping into Gu Junhan.

His eyes were red, and he looked totally lost.

Gu Junhan looked at his face for a couple of seconds.

"Little treasure," Gu Junhan said lazily, "you look like you're watching a horror movie with that look?"

Wen Yu looked up at him, and tears spilled out.

Gu Junhan watched his tearful, bewildered expression, and the corner of his mouth quirked slightly.

He pointed at the red wine bottles stacked in the corner.

"Those bottles over there, pick one up,"

"and throw them at this guy until you feel better."

His cousin-in-law was so scared he couldn't even speak properly. Blood dripped from his forehead, mixing with tears, his face a mess of blood and tears. His mouth opened and closed, babbling incoherent pleas for mercy.

Wen Yu looked at him like that, and a weird feeling welled up in his chest.

His hand, holding the wine bottle, was shaking.

Wen Yu took a deep breath and raised the bottle.

The bottle flew through the air and smashed into the ground beside his cousin-in-law's shoulder, exploding with a crash. Glass shards flew everywhere, spraying all over him.

It didn't hit. Or rather, Wen Yu hadn't aimed—he'd missed on purpose.

Wen Yu couldn't do it—he couldn't keep throwing at him, watching his cousin-in-law suffer. He couldn't bring himself to retaliate, afraid he might actually kill him.

Wen Yu stood still, his arm slowly lowering from where he'd thrown.

Gu Junhan was watching Wen Yu, his gaze dark, his expression unreadable.

Wen Yu walked over, head hanging. "I... I can't throw straight."

Wen Yu was so embarrassed. Gu Junhan had given him the chance to vent, and he couldn't even get that right.

Gu Junhan stood up, looming over Wen Yu, and rubbed his thumb across Wen Yu's cheek, the pad of his thumb rubbing hard enough to sting a little.

"Can't hit him? Then don't," Gu Junhan said in a low voice. "I'll take care of it."

Wen Yu asked, "How will you take care of it?"

"Make it look like an accident." That was Gu Junhan's style. "High floor, make him fall."

Wen Yu was shocked. "That... that's not okay."

"Little treasure, what do you want to do?"

"I want to cut his * off."

"......"

Actually, the second the words came out of his mouth, Wen Yu himself was stunned.

He'd been a good kid his whole life—never fought, never swore, and when he got bullied, he'd just hide and cry.

He'd hardly ever cursed, let alone said something like that.

Gu Junhan let out a helpless sigh. "You're full of surprises, Wen Yu."
