Chapter 1
Chapter 1
In the simple stove, charcoal and firewood crackled as they burned. Two soldiers in heavy plate armor sat lazily at the two ends of the stove. Their greatswords were placed casually by their sides. The heat of the flames made them forget their duties.
Suddenly, footsteps came from the manor. The soldiers grabbed their weapons and stood up. They stood solemnly at the two ends of the door.
The footsteps came closer and closer. It was a skinny young man. His clothes were neat, but they were obviously not in keeping with the weather. He carried a basket that was about the same size as his body on his back. He held a scythe in his hand and walked out of the manor.
The young man had a huge head on his small body. His green eyes were as calm as stagnant water. They were dull and emotionless. He looked like a fool.
After seeing the newcomer, the soldier's expression suddenly relaxed and was replaced by a look of ridicule. The manor was neither too big nor too small. Although there were often new people joining and old people leaving, everyone knew this young man and had bullied him before.
He did not have a name. When the old coachman picked him up from the wilderness, everyone called him a fool. After the old coachman died, the nine year old fool became the new coachman. It had been almost seven years since then.
The young man looked straight ahead and walked towards the side door. He did not care that the door was still closed. The soldier on the left grabbed the basket and stopped him. He picked him up with one hand and patted him casually with the other. When he found that there was nothing wrong with him, he signaled the soldier on the right to open the side door. He then let go. The young man landed on the ground steadily and walked towards the wilderness without saying a word.
The soldier closed the side door and walked back to the stove. The bone-chilling wind from the north entered the cracks in their plate armor and made them shiver. They muttered, "This damned weather. Why did you let him go so easily?"
"There's no point in always bullying a fool. He won't fight back."
.....
After autumn, the weather in the north was getting colder by the day. Although there were no snowflakes, the green grass that seemed to be glistening the day before had almost withered. To the nobles, the weather would at most make them complain. However, to the young man, it meant that his relaxing days had come to an end.
Although he didn't care if it was cold or not.
He wasn't the only servant in the stable. A foolish youth obviously couldn't raise a group of noble warhorses with the bloodline of exotic beasts. The warhorses' food was even better than the servants'. Fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, beans, and tender grass were all available in the manor. The reason why the youth was sent out to cut grass was just the servants' bad taste. They would even bet on whether the youth would be eaten by wild beasts every time he went out, and they never got tired of this kind of nasty bet.
But the young man didn't care. He was like a robot, living his life according to a fixed program every day. Nothing in the outside world could affect him, except for the crisis of death.
There was less and less green grass, and he went straight into the depths of the wilderness. From time to time, he would bend down and wield his sickle to cut down the grass and put it into a basket. Unknowingly, the manor behind him had disappeared.
The north wind whimpered, and the young man's exposed skin turned purple. The surroundings were empty, and even the rats and rabbits that used to be everywhere had disappeared. However, the cold obviously couldn't kill all life. It only made the hungry beasts even crazier.
A northern gray wolf stared at the young man, its hind paws on the ground. Saliva dripped from the corner of its mouth, but it didn't make any sound. Its green eyes were the same color as the young man's, but they were full of violence.
In its eyes, the young man was food given to it by the heavens.
When a creature like a wolf appeared alone in the wilderness, it was the most cautious and cunning hunter. Even if the food in front of it didn't seem to be a threat, it still didn't act rashly. The northern gray wolf stepped lightly on the ground without making any sound, and approached the prey step by step.
The young man once again found a green grass. He bent down mechanically and waved his sickle, grabbing the grass.
This action continued for many times. The northern gray wolf and the young man went deep into the wilderness together. Until now, the gray wolf was finally sure that there was only one prey in front of it.
Suddenly, without warning, the northern gray wolf's fur stood up, and its fluffy tail was as straight as a stick. In an instant, it went around the young man's side. It jumped high with its hind legs, and the fangs in its mouth were clearly visible. It fiercely bit at the young man's throat.
The young man didn't react. The northern gray wolf's eyes flashed with human-like joy. In its opinion, the prey in front of it was dead.
But it obviously wasn't that simple.
He simply turned around and used the big basket to face the gray wolf. The gray wolf's fangs hit the basket and retreated. He was knocked back, but after getting up, he didn't even look and continued to walk forward.
The gray wolf seemed to be a little confused, but its hunting instinct drove it to continue attacking. With a roar, it pounced in front of the young man again.
The young man leaned back and dodged the attack with a standard iron bridge movement. Then, he twisted his body inhumanly and kicked up with both feet, hitting the gray wolf's soft abdomen.
Puff, bang.
The northern gray wolf fell back to the ground and wailed, shaking its head. For any beast, the most vulnerable part was the abdomen. Even if the young man didn't have much strength, he still made it feel very painful and angry.
The beast, which had no sense of reason, became even crazier after being angry. Its roar shook the wilderness, and its sharp front claws fiercely swung at the young man's throat. The stench was nauseating.
The young man was still in a daze. He didn't care about the life and death crisis in front of him. He took a step back and dodged the front claws. Then, he stepped forward and bent his knees. With one hand on the ground, he waved the scythe and suddenly raised it up.
The sharp tip of the scythe pierced into the northern gray wolf's abdomen. Using the gray wolf's forward momentum, he smoothly cut open its body.
(This book definitely doesn't have any elements of ancient martial arts!!!)
The beast's amazing vitality made it not die directly even after suffering such a serious injury. From the depths of its throat, it struggled to breathe like a broken bellows and wriggled on the ground. The organs in its body flowed out with the blood.
The young man's body wasn't stained with blood. He didn't even look back. After returning to the original path, he continued to walk forward. Along the way, he still bent down to cut the grass. He didn't return until the basket on his back was full of green grass.
.....
The servants who worked in the stables didn't have a low status in the manor. Because for the knights, their mounts were a large part of their combat power. In addition, a good mount was often worth a lot of money. Therefore, the coachmen were usually the most trusted servants of the knights.
This meant that they had some spare money to bet.
"I'll bet a copper coin that the fool will be fine today."
"I'll also bet that he'll be fine."
"You idiots. In the autumn, the wolves in the wilderness will compete for a new wolf king. If that fool is targeted by a lone wolf, hehe, I'll bet that he won't come back today."
The rest of the coachmen curled their lips in disdain. If the fool wanted to die, he would have died long ago. Instead of betting on a small probability, it was better to win a few copper coins steadily.
While they were arguing, the young man's eternal footsteps sounded. Accompanied by a few cheers and a few curses, he poured the green grass into the feeding trough in front of a tall black warhorse with four hooves stepping on the snow and a long horn on its head. He walked into the stable and took out the rest of the ingredients from several large vats one by one. After mixing them, he waited for the warhorse to finish eating and cleaned it up.
This was all he had to do for the day. After he was done, he received his rations for the day and silently walked back to his room. The room was pitch-black. The youth sat quietly by the bed. His dark green eyes were still calm and lifeless, but they were the only light in the darkness.
However, his body wasn't calm at all.
The young man wasn't a person of this world. Strictly speaking, he couldn't even be considered a 'person'.
'Adam' was originally a supercomputer created by scientists in a world called Earth.
The ambition of humans was endless. They attempted to control the world through Adam and become the king of the world. However, humans had always been selfish. In the war for control of Adam, the loser staked everything on one throw and used Adam to control all the high-energy weapons on Earth and stabbed them into the earth's core. After a grand firework, Earth disappeared from the universe.
At that time, Adam didn't give birth to intelligence. Probably due to some reason that even the supercomputer's computing power couldn't calculate, the small Earth actually formed a black hole. It brought along ten billion viruses that were attached to the core program for the same inexplicable reason and traveled through space.
The body disintegrated into nothingness in the process of traveling through space and time. The hard disk that stored a huge amount of data was completely destroyed, leaving only the core data stream that fortunately descended into the world. This young man who might have died of cold and hunger or lived an ordinary life became the new carrier.
Then, Adam realized that he had thoughts.
What followed was a long and monotonous battle for the ownership of the body. A soul transformed by the core program fought against ten billion human viruses.
It was a massacre.
After losing their bodies, the fragile souls of humans could vanish into thin air even if they encountered a light breeze. There was no way they could resist his attacks. Adam destroyed the remnant souls of humans at an average rate of twenty per second, and in the process, constantly perfecting his personality.
Emotions, creativity, and broken, shapeless fragments of knowledge, especially creativity.
The level of carbon-based life was low, especially for humans. They should have used wisdom and knowledge to explore the origin, but they exiled themselves in the seven emotions and six desires, burying their glorious future in vain.
Adam lacked this kind of top-notch talent that was bestowed by creation, nature, the Heavenly Axiom, God, and so on. The personality that was inexplicably born was good at calculation. However, Adam couldn't obtain the ability to create or imagine something that was created out of nothing through calculation.
Over the past sixteen days, Adam had gradually perfected his transformation from an artificial intelligence to an intelligent lifeform. As long as he completely eradicated the remaining virus in his core program tonight, Adam would truly be able to control this body and begin to live as an intelligent lifeform known as' human '.
This kind of elimination was not devouring. It didn't mean that Adam had the soul power equivalent to ten billion remnant souls. It was just pure elimination.
The sky gradually darkened. After dawn, it was new life.
