Chapter 26: The Invisible Arrow

After Long Qi left, Su Tang sat blankly on the stone bricks for a long time. He had too many things to ponder carefully. He sat there for over two hours until the moon reached the center of the sky before he slowly stood up.

Walking aimlessly in the courtyard, he found a room at random and walked inside. The door seemed not to have been opened for a very long time; when it vibrated, layers of dust fell down.

The furnishings inside were very simple: a dressing table, a bed, and a set of table and chairs. It looked like a girl’s bedroom. Su Tang leaned closer to the mirror on the dressing table. The mirror was also covered in thick dust, and he could only see his reflection vaguely. He wiped the mirror with his finger, and his fingertip became black. He turned to look at the bed, which was even dirtier and completely uninhabitable.

Forget it, he wouldn’t sleep there. Su Tang walked out of the room, broke off a branch from a tree, found a stone table, and spent a good while cleaning it until the stone table was clean.

Su Tang sat cross-legged on the stone table and took off the longbow from his back. He had wanted to refine the longbow for a long time, but it wasn’t possible back then. After refinement, the longbow would disappear. If someone had just given you something, how could you explain it if they asked? Saying he lost it… definitely wouldn’t work. Xue Jiu had made it very clear at the time that it was a friend’s relic; would he dare to lose it?

Therefore, Su Tang had been enduring, and he was afraid that the strange program would execute automatically and forcibly. He didn’t dare to put his consciousness into his brain domain, and he hadn’t practiced his internal breath for several days.

As expected, just as Su Tang began to operate his brain domain, a piece of information appeared: Spirit Tool detected, unable to refine.

Su Tang was somewhat surprised. What was going on?

Then another piece of information appeared: Fuse Spirit Soul?

Su Tang hesitated for a long time and chose yes. Then he put his consciousness into the Spirit Soul of the Broken Sword, and that Spirit Soul immediately released a dazzling light. But it was different from before. In the past, when Su Tang faced danger and entered a state of alert, the light emitted by the Spirit Soul could only illuminate his brain domain. Now, the light actually leaked out of his body, lighting up the surrounding courtyard brightly. It lasted for a full five or six minutes before the light gradually dimmed.

The Spirit Soul disappeared, and Su Tang felt a sense of weakness, as if he couldn’t even lift his hand. Because most of his strength came from the nourishment of the Spirit Soul, missing one naturally made him feel very uncomfortable.

How was this fusing a Spirit Soul? It was simply destroying it! Su Tang gave a bitter smile, then he noticed an anomaly in his brain domain. The light outside his body had vanished without a trace, but inside the brain domain, countless spots of light remained. The spots of light slowly gathered toward the center and flowed along some invisible path.

More importantly, the remaining Spirit Soul had become Level 6!

Su Tang was both shocked and happy. Then he shifted his attention to the longbow, and the information appeared: Spirit Tool detected, refine?

He understood now. Currently, only two Spirit Apertures were open, so he could only hold two Spirit Souls. Only after one Spirit Soul disappeared could he refine a new Spirit Tool.

Su Tang chose yes, and his consciousness soon sank into a state of meditation.

When the sky grew dim with dawn, Su Tang finally opened his eyes. The Spirit Souls in his brain domain had become two again.

Fragmented Spirit Soul: Level 6.

Spirit Soul: Night Cry, Level 1.

The information Su Tang received was still very simple. That longbow had turned into a Spirit Soul—a full Spirit Soul, not a fragmented one. What did this represent? Quality? Moreover, that Spirit Soul had a name. Su Tang wasn’t sure if it was because his consciousness acted as a guide, causing the artificial intelligence’s feedback information to name the Spirit Soul.

The luster emitted by the two Spirit Souls was slightly different from what he remembered. It was a bit dimmer, but the texture became crystal clear, as if something was about to emerge.

Su Tang jumped off the stone table and walked around a few times. Suddenly struck by inspiration, he tried to operate the Martial Formula that Xue Jiu had taught him. Unexpectedly, as soon as the Martial Formula began to operate, Night Cry in the brain domain began to vibrate violently.

Purely out of instinct, Su Tang continued to operate the Martial Formula. His hands slowly pulled apart, posing as if drawing a bow and arrow. When he began the movement, mist-like things drifted out of his body. By the time his hands were pulled into a full moon shape, a shimmering longbow had appeared in his hand.

Su Tang shot an arrow, and an invisible surge of energy shot forward. The energy emitted a piercing shriek, like a fierce ghost wailing.

Boom… a small tree with a diameter of about ten centimeters was snapped in half by the energy. Then, with another boom, the energy smashed through a door and shot into the room.

In the blink of an eye, Su Tang heard five or six booms in succession. He was stunned. When he snapped out of it, he rushed toward the room and saw a large hole in the wall opposite the door.

He ran out of the room and rushed into the backyard, searching along the direction the energy had flown.

This one arrow had pierced through a small tree, a door, and four walls, finally landing on the stone pillar of a small pavilion, leaving a dent six or seven centimeters deep!

Estimating it, the energy had flown for over thirty meters, and this was with obstacles in the way. How far could it shoot in an open field?

Su Tang was overjoyed. Since his rebirth, he had practiced hard almost every day, but with no one to guide him, he relied entirely on his own slow exploration. Since he couldn’t see a powerful effect, he lacked confidence.

Now the clouds had finally parted to reveal the blue sky. According to Xue Jiu’s words, a high-level Martial Artist who had mastered the arrow formula and possessed a weapon like Night Cry could only barely shoot such an arrow.

Su Tang put his consciousness back into the brain domain. He found that after shooting the arrow, the luster emitted by Night Cry had dimmed significantly. However, did the other Spirit Soul also have some special talent?

But Su Tang didn’t know the use of that Mask, let alone a Martial Formula. He could only try to operate his internal breath and concentrate all his consciousness on that Spirit Soul.

After an unknown amount of time, that Spirit Soul began to vibrate, just like when Night Cry was activated. Su Tang stretched out his hands and waited nervously.

After waiting for a long time, there was no change around him, and Su Tang was somewhat disappointed.

In fact, the phenomenon had already happened; Su Tang just couldn’t see it.

Countless starlight-like particles seeped out of Su Tang’s skin and condensed on his face, forming a golden Mask. A black cloak was connected behind the mask, slowly covering Su Tang’s body from top to bottom.

When the cloak covered his shoulders, Su Tang was startled. Then, curious, he looked down and watched his body being covered bit by bit.

What material was this? It definitely wasn’t silk, nor was it cloth, and certainly not animal hide. He touched it with his hand; it was very smooth and gave him a feeling of extreme weight, as if he were wearing a layer of armor.
