Chapter 57: Open Robbery

“Please forgive us, young man,” the old servant suddenly said in a low voice. “Our Miss has not been in a good mood these past few years and often does some unbelievable things. However… her family spoils her and lets her act wildly. Please bear with it for a few days. Once the Miss gets bored and her interest shifts elsewhere, you may leave. Rest assured, the Xi Manor will reward you handsomely then.”

Su Tang sighed. Communicating with a normal person was much easier; a few short sentences had explained a lot. However, the phrase “gets bored” was up for debate…

After walking for over half an hour, they stepped onto a very wide street. The Chief raised her hand, pointed toward a manor gate, and shouted, “It is this one!”

Four strong men wearing tight-fitting clothes and holding wooden staves stood before the gate. Seeing the Chief, they raised their staves and rushed forward. One of them yelled, “Where did this arrogant fool come from, daring to point fingers in front of our gate? You must be tired of living!”

The Chief’s movements were extremely agile. She grabbed a falling staff from one man’s hand and delivered a flying kick to his chest. In the next moment, the staff in her hand created a blurring storm of strikes. The other three men had just pounced when they were instantly hit by the staff shadows, flying backward while screaming in pain.

“Charge!!” The Chief shot forward like an arrow and actually smashed a huge hole straight through the manor gate.

Zhou Qian and Lu Feixia looked exceptionally excited. They each picked up a staff from the ground and rushed into the hole as well.

“Brothers, enemies have invaded! Be careful…” one of the men roared.

Su Tang was completely stunned. He knew the target was the Sword of Taisho, but it was still daytime! Were they really going to rob them in broad daylight? This was merely “acting wildly”?! Just what kind of power did Xi Xiaoru have backing her…

What happened next left Su Tang speechless once again. Those strong men seemed to have been beaten miserably, but as soon as the three girls rushed into the manor, they climbed up as if nothing had happened and bowed respectfully to the old servant. “Greetings, Elder Zhong.”

The old servant nodded and walked toward the gate.

Inside the manor, shouts of battle filled the air. Figures rushed out from every corner, waving wooden staves with all their might as they ran.

“Good timing!” the Chief roared. Without any fear, she led Zhou Qian and Lu Feixia into the crowd, clashing with the flood of over a hundred people.

Su Tang watched silently. After a long while, he asked in a low voice, “Are they their own people?”

“Ahem…” The old servant coughed dryly, his expression somewhat embarrassed.

“Then should I go up or…” Su Tang couldn’t decide. He was the Third Chief after all, so he should go up and lend a hand, but they were clearly playing a game, and he truly did not want to participate.

“These people are not enough for the Miss to play with on her own,” the old servant whispered. “Let us just watch.”

The three girls were like tigers among sheep. Anyone they touched fell or flew away. In less than fifteen minutes, over a hundred people had been knocked down, and the area was filled with cries of pain.

The Chief twirled her staff and roared, “Are there none of you who can fight better?!”

The area went quiet for a moment, and then the defeated men let out noisy wails.

“Mercy… have mercy…”

“Chief, please let us go, we won’t dare again…”

“Who dares to fight me for three hundred rounds?!” the Chief roared again. She had entered a certain state. Then, she tossed away the wooden staff and reached for the hilt of the blade on her back.

The old servant’s face changed drastically. Without any visible effort, he shot dozens of meters away in the blink of an eye and shouted urgently, “Miss! Miss…”

All the wailing stopped instantly. The men lying scattered on the ground all looked terrified, their eyes fixed on that giant blade.

The Chief’s hand froze, then slowly dropped to her side. She shouted loudly, “Where is the Sword of Taisho? Speak, and I may spare your lives!”

Many hands pointed simultaneously toward a separate, dark-grey small house. Even those lying on the ground “unconscious” made the same gesture. To Su Tang, this scene was far too theatrical.

The Chief strode into the dark-grey house. A moment later, she walked out holding a sword. She said to the defeated men, “A Spirit Tool should belong to the capable. Tell your master that I have taken the Sword of Taisho. If he is unsatisfied, he can find me at Zuiyue Tower; I am ready whenever he is.”

“The Chief is mighty…”

“Only the Chief is worthy of using this Sword of Taisho…”

Cheers erupted in the area, and the Chief walked back triumphantly. When she reached Su Tang, she suddenly paused. “Little San, you don’t have a Spirit Tool?”

“I don’t,” Su Tang shook his head.

“This is for you.” The Chief raised her hand and threw the sword toward him.

Just as Su Tang caught the Sword of Taisho, it felt like he had been hit by a heavy blow. His body stumbled backward, retreating seven or eight steps before he barely managed to stand steady, his face flushing red.

Su Tang had never dreamed that a small sword could weigh several hundred pounds. Moreover, the sword had been thrown, and his movement to catch it was somewhat careless. As a result, the impact caused the blood in his chest to churn. He had used all his strength just to keep himself from making a fool of himself in public.

“You are the man of our team, how can you be so weak?!” the Chief frowned.

Su Tang had nothing to say. He knew he had misjudged her again. He had thought this Chief was just a spoiled woman who caused trouble everywhere by relying on her family’s power, but her strength far exceeded his own.

The Chief thought for a moment, snatched the staff from Zhou Qian’s hand, pointed it at a strong man, and shouted, “Speak, where did you hide the Spirit Nourishing Pills?!”

“Spirit… Spirit Nourishing Pills?!” The man was stunned. This was not in the “script.”

“Hurry up and find them!” the Chief shouted. “If you can’t produce the Spirit Nourishing Pills, I will level this place to the ground today!”

“Yes, yes…” The man panicked, scrambled up, and vanished in a flash.

A moment later, the man ran back panting and, with a forced smile, handed over a sophisticated, antique small box. The Chief took the box and threw it to Su Tang like a piece of trash.

“Let’s go, we’re returning to Zuiyue Tower to celebrate our victory!” the Chief shouted happily.

At this time, the old servant quietly leaned toward Su Tang. “Young man, this sword…”

“Elder, I will return it to you when I leave.” Su Tang knew what the other meant. This Sword of Taisho was definitely not simple; its grade should be far above his Night Cry. It was unlikely he could walk away with someone’s family heirloom, so it was better to be sensible.

“Haha…” The old servant smiled. Su Tang was very smart and quick-witted; he liked dealing with young people like this.
