Chapter 3: The Unexpected Decision
Chapter 3: The Unexpected Decision
The weather was calm, but Reet's and Abbeer’s hearts were racing.
Both of them had returned home, rushing in worry after the urgent calls. They hadn’t spoken a word to each other at school — just a glance, but it lingered in their minds.
---
Scene: Reet's Home
Reet enters the house and immediately sees her mother and father sitting on the couch. Her mother walks up and hugs her tightly.
Reet: “Mumma, Papa, kya hua? Aap log theek toh ho na?”
Mumma (smiling faintly): “Haan beta, bas thoda weak feel ho raha tha, isliye bula liya.”
They feed her her favorite halwa, her favorite food waiting on the table. Her heart melts, but her mind is confused.
---
Scene: Abbeer’s Home
Abbeer drops his bag near the sofa and looks at his parents with concern.
Abbeer: “Papa... Maa… aap dono ko kya hua? Aapne toh dara hi diya.”
Papa (putting a hand on his shoulder): “Sab theek hai beta. Baitho pehle, kha lo kuch.”
They too comfort him with warmth and his favorite food. His confusion is growing stronger.
---
Later That Night – Both Homes (Parallel Scenes)
After dinner, both sets of parents call their child to sit.
Reet’s Dad: “Beta, ek zaroori baat karni hai…”
Reet: “Kya baat hai Papa?”
Mumma (gently): “Hum chaahte hain ki tum shaadi kar lo.”
Reet stares at them, shocked.
Reet: “Kya?! Itni jaldi?! Mujhe toh padhai puri karni hai… main abhi tayyar nahi hoon.”
Papa (with a sigh): “Beta, yeh faisla humare liye bhi aasan nahi hai. Lekin hum chahte hain ki tum ek achhe parivaar mein shaadi karo… humein tumhari chinta hoti hai.”
She tries to argue, but slowly their emotional talks start breaking her defenses.
---
Meanwhile at Abbeer’s Home:
Abbeer: “Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha aap log kya keh rahe ho. Mujhe abhi koi shaadi nahi karni.”
Maa (softly): “Beta, hum tumhare liye best soch rahe hain. Humari health bhi ab waise nahi rahi…”
Papa: “Agar hum kuch ho gaya toh? Tumhare liye hum chaahte hain ki koi ho jo tumhara khayal rakhe.”
Abbeer looks away. His hands clenched in frustration, but his heart melting with worry for his parents.
After a lot of emotional convincing, both Reet and Abbeer agree. But neither of them knows who they are marrying.
---
Scene: A Phone Call Between The Two Families
Reet’s Father (on call): “Humne usse mana liya. Wo ghar aa gayi hai, shaadi ke liye tayyar bhi ho gayi.”
Abbeer’s Mother (smiling): “Yeh toh badi khushi ki baat hai. Ab dono ke rishte ki tayari shuru karte hain.”
Reet’s Mother: “Bas ab shaadi mein milte hain… sab kuch planned hai. Dono ko kuch nahi pata.”
And with that, the secret stays hidden — the children still unaware they are about to marry each other.
