Chapter 266: It’s No Use Keeping Quiet
Chapter 266: It’s No Use Keeping Quiet
“Why do I see you looking so gloomy the whole day?”
“Didn’t you take in a Saintess maidservant? And she looks so much like the Main Wife, too.”
At night, Zhu Siyao and Jiang Huai sat around a small pot.
Steam billowed inside as various ingredients cooked, their fragrance wafting through the room.
She picked up a piece of Spiritual Meat, dipped it in sesame sauce, and began to enjoy it with her beautiful eyes squinted.
Although Cultivators had long been able to abstain from eating, they could still enjoy the pleasures of fine food.
Hearing Zhu Siyao’s sour tone, Jiang Huai sighed and placed another piece of meat into her bowl.
The matter of Qin Xuange was a small issue, but what about Chi Hong?
‘If I don’t have the Mark of the Red Dragon, how can I continue my Cultivation? Must I keep wasting time like this?’
Zhu Siyao quietly observed Jiang Huai’s expression, reading his mood. She picked up some Spiritual Meat and put it into his bowl, her red lips pouting.
“Why the long face? I was just saying it; I’m not really complaining about you.”
“Who could really stop you from doing what you want? I won’t stop you, and Sister Su won’t stop you either.”
“If it doesn’t work out, I’ll just help you keep a lookout in the future and won’t tell the Main Wife you found a double. Don’t make that face.” Thinking Jiang Huai was still dwelling on Qin Xuange, she kept serving him food and comforting him.
Jiang Huai gave a wry smile and waved his hand. “It’s not about Qin Xuange. It’s about my Cultivation.”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Siyao slowly put down her chopsticks, her expression becoming solemn.
“Right, I haven’t asked you about that yet. What did the senior say? Did they say what to do?”
Jiang Huai honestly explained the situation.
As he watched Zhu Siyao’s expressions become increasingly colorful, he eventually just buried his head in his food.
“I see. If I had known, I wouldn’t have scolded Clan Leader Chi Hong that day. She wouldn’t hold a grudge against me, would she?” Zhu Siyao sighed deeply, her face full of emotion.
That day, Chi Hong had taken the lead and usurped Chi Lian’s position.
This had nearly caused Zhu Siyao to burst out in curses, and she could only resort to sarcastic remarks from the side.
Although Zhu Siyao said she regretted it, she didn’t feel she had done anything wrong. Who does something so dishonorable?
“I don’t think you need to worry about Clan Leader Chi Hong or her business. I suspect that once you visit the Red Dragon Clan, everything will be settled,” Zhu Siyao hummed, returning to her meat.
She loved eating meat, just like her mother. She couldn’t live without it. Even as a Cultivator, she couldn’t help but eat.
“Most importantly, regarding the Azure Dragon and Yellow Dragon, how are you going to ask them for their people?”
Jiang Huai didn’t know how to bring it up either. He just helplessly continued eating and mumbled, “I don’t know. I’ll discuss it with White Dew and the others. I’ll probably have to propose marriage again.”
Zhu Siyao glanced at Jiang Huai, only able to offer her silent pity. At the same time, she felt somewhat fortunate. Although things were a bit twisted, at least she had been claimed early enough.
“You should just focus on your Cultivation.”
“Young Lord Jiang, do you want me to help you get dressed?”
A cool voice sounded in his ear.
Jiang Huai turned his head and saw a blushing Qin Xuange standing somewhat awkwardly behind him.
“No, I can do it myself.”
Qin Xuange hesitated.
Feeling like she should do something, she took a large step forward, approached Jiang Huai, and gently picked up his clothes.
She said softly, “I should be the one to do it. As a… maidservant, I should do something.”
Jiang Huai quickly turned around, turning his back to her again.
His tone was a bit flustered. “No need, no need. I can handle dressing myself. Go out and brew a pot of tea for me.”
It wasn’t that he wanted to reject Qin Xuange, but his Yin-Yang Body was out of control this morning, constantly holding its head high.
It was as if it were always ready to contribute to the future of the Human Race.
Jiang Huai had no control over this biological instinct, so he could only keep his back to her.
“Fine. Since the Young Master says so, I will go out.” Qin Xuange subconsciously touched her face and looked at Jiang Huai suspiciously.
Today, her makeup was once again modeled after Qin Qingyue’s.
She had even used some techniques so that only careful observation could reveal the tiny differences between her face and Qin Qingyue’s.
Yet, she didn’t expect Jiang Huai to dismiss her without even really looking at her.
What was wrong with helping him dress? It wasn’t like she was doing anything else, but he seemed to be avoiding her.
Just as Qin Xuange was about to turn and leave, the door was suddenly pushed open.
Zhu Siyao walked in slowly and raised an eyebrow when she saw Qin Xuange.
“Good morning, Miss Zhu,” Qin Xuange greeted politely, stepping into her role.
Zhu Siyao was stunned for a moment and gave a sheepish smile. “Good morning, Saintess… Qin.”
Truth be told, every time she looked at that face, she was intimidated. Especially today—the resemblance was far too striking.
“Then for today… will you?” She made a “please” gesture.
Qin Xuange didn’t understand what Zhu Siyao meant. Her Dragon Eyes were full of confusion. ‘Will I what? What am I supposed to do?’
“No, you should still do it today,” Jiang Huai said softly to Zhu Siyao, his back still turned to Qin Xuange.
“Oh, then I’ll do it.” Zhu Siyao continued walking in, realizing Jiang Huai didn’t want the other woman to do this. Her steps were light.
Qin Xuange didn’t understand, but assuming the two had private matters they didn’t want to tell her, she sensibly left to brew tea outside.
Once she was gone, Jiang Huai turned around and revealed his current state to Zhu Siyao.
“Why didn’t you let her do it? Isn’t she a maidservant? She should be able to do this kind of thing, right?” Zhu Siyao glanced down, a mischievous smile on her pretty face as she walked over slowly.
“Is it very uncomfortable?”
She lightly flicked it with her slender finger.
“Yes,” Jiang Huai didn’t deny it.
Zhu Siyao gathered her hair back with her slender hands, tied it into a low ponytail, and knelt.
“Hmph, why won’t you let me do sword practice anymore? Hmm?”
She rubbed her palms together and looked at Jiang Huai teasingly, continuing to joke, “Why didn’t you let her do it? See, didn’t she put on makeup?”
Zhu Siyao had applied something to her hands, making them incredibly smooth.
Her palms were white and tender, her skin as delicate as if it would break at a touch.
Jiang Huai looked down and didn’t answer.
In the quiet room, a light sound began. Zhu Siyao continued to chatter.
“I’m serious. It would be better to let her do it. Just think about it. She’s just like me; you’d see her face the moment you look down.”
She looked up and blew a soft breath.
“Her face is so similar to the Main Wife’s. You could just treat her as the Main Wife. But she isn’t the Main Wife. Thinking about it like that, aren’t you excited?”
Jiang Huai didn’t speak, but Zhu Siyao’s hand wouldn’t lie.
His pulse quickened.
She curled her lip, realizing he was clearly moved by her words and was just being stubborn.
“How about I call her back in?”
