Volume 3, Chapter 416 – Unanimous Approval
The so called “Study Hall Monitor” was simply the class monitor of the academy.
Normally, aside from managing the students’ attendance and daily coursework, the position also assisted the teacher with daily instruction and maintaining order in the classroom.
It was usually held by someone with excellent character and academics, someone who carried a certain degree of prestige among the students.
“Ever since the previous study hall monitor graduated, the position has been left vacant. The Headmaster’s original intention was to leave this position for Miss Muxue.” Master Chen’s gaze turned toward Chi Muxue, who sat obediently at her desk.
Chi Muxue blinked, looking utterly innocent.
A trace of helplessness surfaced on Master Chen’s face. He continued, “But Miss Muxue’s coursework is demanding, and she cannot spare the time. Because of this, everyone was asked to hold a fresh election for yesterday.”
Chi Xiyan fell into thought upon hearing this.
Study Hall Monitor.
Of course she knew of this position within the academy.
Back when she had worked hard to earn Jingwen’s trust, she too had once wanted to compete for this position.
But unfortunately, at the time she had already taken a master at Medical Immortal Valley while also having to devote herself to sword cultivation. She simply had no spare energy to pursue the position.
Had she managed to secure it back then and established enough prestige among her peers, perhaps the branch family disciples wouldn’t have caused her so much trouble afterward.
Thinking of this, Chi Xiyan turned her head slightly and glanced at Chi Muxue.
This girl, only nine years old, had already returned from completing her studies at Medical Immortal Valley, and her sword cultivation had already reached the Fourth Realm. This pace was a full five years faster than Chi Xiyan’s own had been.
A sacred sword body was truly terrifying to this degree.

Chi Xiyan could not quite name the feeling in her heart.
Was it envy?
Or was it… relief?
In reality, for various reasons, Muxue had drifted through hardship and her natural gifts had been buried entirely.
But here, Chi Xiyan could see her at the height of her unmatched brilliance.
At the podium, Master Chen looked toward a young man seated to the side. “Chi Ning, since all thirty five students in the class have recommended you for Study Hall Monitor, are you willing to take on this responsibility?”
Hearing Master Chen’s words, Chi Ning took a deep breath.
He was only a young man not far along in years, and though he kept telling himself inwardly to stay calm, his youthful face still betrayed an excitement he could not fully hide.
“Master…” Chi Ning stood up, his expression resolute. “I, Chi Ning, am willing to take on…”
“Master! Wait a moment.” Chi Muxue suddenly raised her small hand, cutting off Chi Ning’s words. “Before Chi Ning takes over as Study Hall Monitor, there is something I want to say.”
In an instant, more than thirty pairs of eyes turned toward Chi Muxue all at once.
Even Chi Xiyan’s face carried a trace of surprise.
She recalled that before setting out, Chi Muxue seemed to have mentioned something to her.
Master Chen’s expression did not change. He looked at Chi Muxue. “Muxue, is there something you wish to say?”
“Yes.” Chi Muxue nodded, smiling. “The academy’s Study Hall Monitor should be elected jointly by every student in the academy.”

“But yesterday, when the Study Hall Monitor election took place, something unexpected happened.”
“Myself included, several other students were unable to take part in the election.”
Hearing this, Chi Ning’s expression gradually began to shift. He looked at Chi Muxue and said with difficulty, “Young Miss, what exactly do you mean?”
Chi Muxue’s face still carried a sweet smile. “Cousin Chi Ning, here at the academy, I’m just an ordinary classmate. You don’t need to call me Young Miss.”
Hearing this, Chi Ning’s fist clenched slightly. “You’re right, Classmate Muxue…”
Chi Muxue’s expression remained one of indifferent amusement, and she continued, “I think it’s a real shame that some of us missed the Study Hall Monitor election due to unexpected circumstances.”
“So, since everyone happens to be present today, I would like to suggest to Master that we hold the Study Hall Monitor election again.”
As soon as Chi Muxue’s words fell, the entire classroom went dead silent.
Chi Ning’s expression turned even more unpleasant.
Chi Muxue wanted to overturn the results of yesterday’s election.
“Master!” Chi Ning said. “I don’t think Classmate Muxue’s proposal serves any purpose at all!”
“In yesterday’s election, all thirty five students voted for me alone. So holding another election now wouldn’t change anything. It would only be a waste of everyone’s time!”
Hearing this, Master Chen fell into thought.
Chi Xiyan did not understand what Chi Muxue was trying to do.
Under normal circumstances, Chi Ning’s position as Study Hall Monitor had already passed unanimously with all thirty five students’ votes, so even redoing the election with a few more ballots added wouldn’t change the final outcome.

After a moment of consideration, Master Chen gave a light cough and said, “Muxue is right. Electing the Study Hall Monitor is no small matter for any of you.”
“Yesterday not everyone was present, so the result reached that way isn’t entirely fair either.”
Master Chen looked at Chi Muxue. “Since everyone is here today, let’s hold the election again.”
Hearing this, Chi Ning’s expression soured, but in the end he only let out a heavy sigh and said nothing more.
Chi Xiyan heard that sigh and noticed the look on the young man’s face.
Still, given her current standing, this Study Hall Monitor election had essentially nothing to do with her.
“Master!” Chi Muxue raised her small hand again. “There’s one more thing I want to say!”
Master Chen said helplessly, “Muxue, what else do you want to say?”
“For today’s Study Hall Monitor election, I would like to nominate someone.” Chi Muxue stood up and looked at the girl beside her.
Chi Xiyan looked at her, at a loss.
Chi Muxue smiled. “I would like to nominate my lovely sister, Chi Xiyan!”
Chi Xiyan’s face went blank with shock.
Was this the surprise Chi Muxue had mentioned before they left home?
It truly caught her off guard.
“Muxue…” Chi Xiyan tugged at Chi Muxue’s small hand. “What are you doing…”

“Protecting you!” Chi Muxue said, her expression completely natural. “The Study Hall Monitor holds a lot of authority in the academy. If you become Study Hall Monitor, no one will dare bully you like they did before…”
“After all…” Chi Muxue lowered her voice a little as she spoke. “Sister Xiyan, even I can’t get rid of every single rat in this academy. Nor can I stay by your side to protect you every moment of every day…”
Chi Xiyan was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected Chi Muxue’s reasoning to be this.
A trace of warmth surfaced between her brows, and she pulled Chi Muxue close, speaking quietly.
“I appreciate the thought, but this really isn’t necessary…”
Chi Xiyan knew that given her current standing and talent, no one would ever vote for her to become Study Hall Monitor.
Little Muxue’s gesture could only be seen as the playful whim of a young girl.
Master Chen’s voice rang out again. “Everyone has heard Muxue’s proposal, so now, please proceed with the new election for Study Hall Monitor.”
The process for electing the Study Hall Monitor was simple. Every student present would write down their choice on a slip of paper.
The slips would then be handed to the Master for tallying, and whoever received the most votes would become Study Hall Monitor.
After carefully reading through every slip submitted by the students, Master Chen’s brow lifted slightly.
“Alright, I will now announce it.”
“The result of this Study Hall Monitor election is…”
“Chi Xiyan, thirty seven votes. Unanimous approval.”
