Volume 3, Chapter 446 – News of Muxue

Chi Xiyan glanced over from the corner of her eye, following the sound.

She saw Song Shixuan walking over with a group of Sword Sect disciples.

“Originally a fellow cultivator from the Sword Sect.”

The maidservant who had just been explaining things to Chi Xiyan bowed respectfully to Song Shixuan.

Her face showed not a trace of annoyance at being interrupted.

She said with a smile, “May I ask what you need?”

“I do have some pills I would like to commission for refining, but…”

As Song Shixuan spoke, his gaze suddenly turned toward Chi Xiyan.

“This young lady arrived first, so please handle her request first.”

Chi Xiyan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Song Shixuan should not have recognized her.

Since her previous appearance was already known to the Chi family, she had changed her looks again.

The current Chi Xiyan was a cool beauty with blue hair and green eyes.

But after feeling Song Shixuan’s blatant gaze sweep over her, Chi Xiyan realized she might have overplayed her hand.

“No need.”

Forcing down the urge to hit him, Chi Xiyan said, “I can go find someone else.”

Sword cultivators were extremely sensitive to fluctuations in qi.

Although Song Shixuan had not recognized her for now, Chi Xiyan did not want to keep taking that risk.

There was still some time left before the three year deadline, and having too much contact with this man before then would not be a good thing.

With that thought, Chi Xiyan turned and walked away.

“Miss, please wait.” Song Shixuan stopped her again.

Chi Xiyan looked at Song Shixuan coldly.

Song Shixuan smiled and said, “Miss, it was my fault for interrupting you earlier. Please do not take offense.”

“It is only that I happen to be skilled in the art of qi divination, and it seems miss has been touched by some extremely cold medicinal energy.”

“May I ask, miss, do you know of a herb called Cold Pool Mystic Ice Lotus Root?”

Chi Xiyan’s expression darkened instantly.

She had guessed wrong. This man was not after her, he was after the medicinal materials on her.

Moreover, this herb was a necessary ingredient for refining her Netherriver Jade Bone Pill.

“Lecher.” She cursed under her breath.

“Ah?” A look of astonishment appeared on Song Shixuan’s face.

“I do not know anything about Cold Pool Mystic Ice Lotus Root.” Chi Xiyan said, “Young master, that excuse for striking up a conversation is a little too old fashioned, don’t you think.”

“I already have a Dao Companion, so please keep some distance from me.”

With that said, Chi Xiyan paid no attention to Song Shixuan’s reaction and walked straight toward the maidservant of the pill refining chamber.

“Can we find somewhere quieter to talk?”

“Of course, miss, please follow me.”

The maidservant gave Song Shixuan an apologetic smile, then led Chi Xiyan toward a small room not far away.

After Chi Xiyan left, a young Sword Sect woman walked up looking displeased.

“Senior Brother Song, that woman is far too ungrateful. You only asked if she knew of that herb, and yet she actually called you a lecher!”

“No, it is not her fault. I was too reckless just now,” Song Shixuan said. “Besides, something about her felt very familiar. I feel like I might have seen her somewhere before.”

Another sword cultivator said, “Young Sect Master, would you like me to have someone look into that woman?”

“Forget it, no need,” Song Shixuan said, shaking his head. “The important matter comes first.”

“I only came here to inquire about the whereabouts of the Cold Pool Mystic Ice Lotus Root.”

“There is no need to complicate things further.”

At this, the young sword cultivator asked, puzzled, “Song Shixuan, may I ask what you need the Cold Pool Mystic Ice Lotus Root for?”

“You even came all the way to Heiyin City in person just for this herb.”

Song Shixuan looked around at everyone. “Ah, so I never mentioned it before?”

“Junior Sister Chi has run into a bottleneck in her cultivation these past few days. Master asked me to find her a Sword Soul Pill, to help improve our relationship.”

As he spoke, Song Shixuan gave a wry smile. “But the Cold Pool Mystic Ice Lotus Root needed to refine the Sword Soul Pill is extremely hard to find, so Master sent me to Heiyin City to try my luck.”

Everyone looked surprised.

“So the Young Sect Master came to Heiyin City for Miss Chi’s sake.”

“The Sword Soul Pill is a secret pill passed down within the Lingxiao Sword Sect. If Miss Chi receives a Sword Soul Pill personally sought out by the Young Sect Master, the ill feelings between them will surely melt away.”

“Then let us congratulate the Young Sect Master in advance on gaining a virtuous wife!”

Standing behind the door, Chi Xiyan heard every word the Sword Sect disciples outside said clearly.

Her expression turned grim, and killing intent flickered in her eyes.

It had been two years. This was the first time she had heard any news of Muxue.

Chi Muxue… was she doing well…

The people of the Lingxiao Sword Sect had not bullied her, had they…

“Um…” The maidservant of the pill refining chamber looked at Chi Xiyan nervously. “Miss, is there something you would like to say?”

Chi Xiyan heard the sound of Song Shixuan’s footsteps leaving, only then did she draw her attention back.

“Um… miss?” the maidservant asked tentatively. “Do you have some feud with those people outside?”

Chi Xiyan frowned and said, “Can you help me find out the whereabouts of those people outside?”

“Miss, that is not possible,” the maidservant said, quickly waving her hands. “This shop only provides pill related services, we do not provide services outside the scope of our business!”

Seeing the maidservant’s nervous expression, Chi Xiyan realized she had been a bit too impulsive.

Song Shixuan’s appearance had given her a sense of urgency.

Two years ago, Song Shixuan had already reached the peak of the Fourth Realm.

Two years later, Chi Xiyan had also reached that same level.

But just now, she had been unable to see through Song Shixuan’s cultivation level.

Song Shixuan’s cultivation had clearly already broken through to the Fifth Realm.

Chi Xiyan pondered for a moment, then looked up and said, “I need to commission you to refine some pills for me.”

“Of course,” the maidservant said, still smiling. “May I ask what pills you need refined? Are they common healing pills?”

Chi Xiyan took out a few yellowed sheets of paper.

“These are the pill formulas.”

Refining pills also cost her a great deal of energy, and in order to stay in her best condition for the three year pact, Chi Xiyan planned to commission some of the less important pills to the alchemists of the pill refining chamber.

The maidservant was also an alchemist. She picked up the formula and glanced at it, then looked at Chi Xiyan with a shocked expression.

“This is a formula from Medical Immortal Valley!”

She quickly said, “No, no, no! We cannot take this order!”

“I have already prepared all the materials,” Chi Xiyan said. “You only need to refine it according to this formula.”

“There is no need to rush to refuse. I am well aware of how appealing a formula from Medical Immortal Valley is to an alchemist.”

“Besides, the Silver Bell Commerce Association has always been reliable when it comes to confidentiality, has it not?”

“This…” The maidservant hesitated. “I need to report this to my boss and let her make the decision.”

Chi Xiyan said, “I will also need a quiet pill refining room, as well as a high quality alchemy furnace.”

“Of course,” the maidservant said. “Please wait a moment, miss, I will go prepare it right away.”

Chi Xiyan leaned against the door, quietly thinking over her plans for what came next.

If the alchemists of the Silver Bell Commerce Association could help share her refining burden, she would be able to free up more time to advance her cultivation.

Song Shixuan, the Young Sect Master of the Sword Sect, had already reached the Fifth Realm. If she remained stuck at the Fourth Realm, even with the boost from pills, there would still be a huge gap between her and Song Shixuan.

“You there! What do you think you are doing!”

“This is the Silver Bell Alchemy Workshop, not a place for stray dogs to run wild!”

“Someone, stop them!”

Sounds of a commotion seemed to come from outside.

Chi Xiyan opened the door a crack and looked out.

“It is the people from the Chi family’s Punishment Hall.”

“How did they find this place?”
