Volume 1, Chapter 54 – The Heavenly Dao’s Restorative Power

The Fox Palace was very large, about the size of a small city.

The courtyard where Song Shixuan was confined under house arrest was on the diagonal corner of the Fox Palace, the place farthest from Song Shiyuan.

To prevent these two siblings from meeting, Lu Zhuxin had put considerable thought into selecting two excellent locations for them both.

Moreover, to prevent Song Shixuan, this heaven-fated male protagonist, from escaping, Lu Zhuxin had specifically ordered people to heavily reinforce the sealing spells around him.

She even assigned loyal maidservants to watch over him.

Apart from staying within the courtyard, he couldn’t go anywhere. This was treatment even Song Shiyuan didn’t have!

Lu Zhuxin, accompanied by her two attendants Hu Mei’er and Hu Xian’er, arrived at the courtyard imprisoning Song Shixuan.

Just as she opened the courtyard gate, Lu Zhuxin heard the sounds of playful banter between men and women coming from inside.

Lu Zhuxin’s brow furrowed.

Behind her, Hu Xian’er’s expression also instantly turned cold.

After entering.

Lu Zhuxin didn’t speak. She frowned, seeing Song Shixuan intimately pressed close together with two beautiful fox demon maidservants.

Before Lu Zhuxin could speak, Hu Xian’er’s voice roared out, filled with fury.

“What are you doing?!”

Hu Xian’er was so angry her entire body trembled.

The Fox Monarch had specifically instructed that Song Shixuan was a dangerous man who must be handled carefully.

Hu Xian’er was the steward of the entire Fox Palace. Naturally, she was fully responsible for guarding Song Shixuan, and these two fox demon maidservants were also personally selected by her.

They were clever and sensible, and absolutely loyal to the Fox Monarch.

But Hu Xian’er never expected that just because she had other matters to investigate recently and temporarily overlooked her attention on Song Shixuan, when she came here again, she would encounter such a thing.

“Your Majesty!!”

The two beautiful fox demon maidservants saw Lu Zhuxin and were instantly frightened pale, their souls nearly fleeing their bodies.

They immediately knelt before Lu Zhuxin.

“We beg Your Majesty’s forgiveness!” The two fox demons kowtowed, pleading for mercy.

Hu Xian’er was nearly dying of anger. “You still have the face to beg the Monarch for mercy! Look at what you’ve done!!”

The two fox demons trembled, continuously kowtowing to Lu Zhuxin.

“We beg Your Majesty’s forgiveness!”

“This servant has grown fond of Young Master Song, and Young Master Song has also treated this servant with true sincerity.”

“We beg Your Majesty’s blessing!”

“We beg Your Majesty’s blessing!”

Both fox demon maidservants spoke to Lu Zhuxin simultaneously.

From the moment Lu Zhuxin entered until now, the expression on her face hadn’t changed, nor had she spoken a single word.

Hu Xian’er was nearly killed by anger from these two fox demon maidservants she had specifically selected.

Were these really the same two fox demons she had chosen back then? Why had they become like this?!

Back then, Hu Xian’er had confirmed their loyalty to the Fox Monarch before allowing them to do such an important task.

If Lu Zhuxin weren’t watching right now, she would simply want to beat these two disobedient fox demons to death.

Song Shixuan on the side straightened his clothes and bowed to Lu Zhuxin. “Your Majesty.”

Seeing that Lu Zhuxin didn’t seem to want to speak now, Song Shixuan said to Hu Xian’er, “Why must Miss Xian’er be so angry? They’re merely two five-tailed maidservants. The fox clan has outstanding people and abundant resources. Such maidservants should be everywhere, right?”

Hu Xian’er glared furiously at this man.

She had underestimated this man.

Even though from the very beginning she knew this man was dangerous, even though Lu Zhuxin had already instructed her to be cautious in dealing with this man,

Hu Xian’er had still been caught here.

Even while being watched by a six-tailed great fox demon with eyes full of killing intent, this Young Sect Master of Lingxiao Sword Sect’s face remained calm and untroubled.

“Moreover, since the Fox Monarch is here, how to deal with these two maidservants isn’t for Miss Xian’er to overstep her authority, right?”

“What mistake have they committed that deserves severe punishment?”

“Love between man and woman, mutual consent. This is only human nature. Within this Fox Palace, surely you wouldn’t completely forbid even these basic human emotions, would you?”

As Song Shixuan spoke, his gaze burned as he looked at Lu Zhuxin.

He was gambling. He was gambling that this nine-tailed Fox Monarch still harbored old feelings for him.

That Song Shixuan who had been so confident upon first arriving at the Fox Palace, after such a long period of confinement, he had finally discovered one thing.

If this fox demon truly became angry, she really would leave him aside and completely ignore him.

This wouldn’t do. Song Shixuan had come to the Fox Palace with his own purposes.

Seeking wealth in danger, gambling everything on a single throw, how could he let himself waste away in this Fox Palace like this?

So he had to do something to attract the Fox Monarch’s attention. Only then would he have a chance to approach her again.

For example, make her jealous!

Song Shixuan was certain that the last time he forcibly broke through the door, that offending act had truly angered this nine-tailed fox.

However, such rude behavior, if it were any other Eighth Realm great demon, would have dismembered Song Shixuan long ago.

But the nine-tailed fox before him hadn’t. She merely kicked Song Shixuan once, then threw him here to cool off, not even bearing to hurt him.

Why? Because she still cherished old feelings!

This was the only explanation Song Shixuan could think of.

Therefore, Song Shixuan knew he still had a chance. He must use this trace of old feelings to create another opportunity.

Song Shixuan looked tenderly at Lu Zhuxin, observing her reaction.

Lu Zhuxin felt Song Shixuan’s gaze. The muscles in her cheeks twitched slightly.

From the moment she stepped through this courtyard gate, she had noticed something wasn’t right.

It was as if there was a voice constantly speaking in her mind:

“You cannot keep Song Shixuan locked here.”

“You must let him out.”

“You should be jealous of him now.”

That voice repeated in her ear, lingering constantly, as if trying to brainwash her.

“What the hell is this? System, are you behind this?” Lu Zhuxin questioned in her mind.

[Congratulations, Host. Your long-term detention of Song Shixuan has seriously affected the plot’s progression, successfully triggering the small world’s Heavenly Dao restoration mechanism.]

[The whisper you’re experiencing is the first stage of the restorative power.]

[If the Heavenly Dao’s restorative power continues to increase, it can trigger some even more terrifying things.]

“Such as?” Lu Zhuxin asked.

[Such as producing some fabricated emotions and impulses out of nothing.]

“Is this… the source of the extremely high difficulty and extremely high danger you mentioned before?” Lu Zhuxin said, displeased.

She paused, thought for a moment, then asked the question she most wanted to ask at this moment. “Then, will my results in winning over Song Shiyuan also be repaired by the Heavenly Dao?”

[No.]

[Song Shiyuan is not a child of fortune in this small world. She is not within the protection of the Heavenly Dao’s progression.]

[This time is because the heaven-fated male protagonist was imprisoned, causing the entire world’s progression to be affected. That’s why the Heavenly Dao’s restorative power was triggered.]

“Which means… aside from the heaven-fated male protagonist, everything else can be directly influenced by me,” Lu Zhuxin said. “Then I can use the things I’ve changed to influence Song Shixuan. That way I won’t trigger this restoration mechanism, right?”

So that’s why the System gave her the task of seizing the child of destiny’s fortune.

Fortune that has been seized won’t be forcibly recovered by the Heavenly Dao.

[The reasons for this, all rights of interpretation belong to this world’s Heavenly Dao. Please explore on your own, Host.]

“Heh…”
