Captain – Chapter 114 – Fog of Mystery
Captain – Chapter 114 – Fog of Mystery
Taking an expensive bottle of red wine from the cabinet embedded in the wall, Roy returned to the round wooden table with it and two polished silver glasses shaped like slightly opened tulips.
The captain leaned against the edge of the table, placing the silver glasses in front of Caine and Anderson, then casually removed the cork and poured a small amount of wine for them.
“Alright, gentlemen, can we stop this meaningless silence?”
After setting the wine bottle aside, Roy folded her arms and looked at her first mate who kept his head lowered without saying a word, then at Anderson who was leaning back in his chair waiting for the other to speak, and sighed softly.
Hearing the captain’s request, Caine raised his head and glanced at the chief guard who seemed relieved by the young woman’s arrival: “Please give us some privacy.”
After the chief guard obediently walked away, the first mate turned his gaze to the group of eager-looking sailors: “Go back to your drinks.”
Thinking they had already displeased the first mate with their earlier attitude, the sailors naturally didn’t dare disobey his orders. They walked away with arms around each other’s shoulders, laughing and talking, though occasionally glancing back—specifically at their potential benefactor.
“Why so serious?”
Seeing the first mate’s unpleasant expression, the smile on Roy’s face gradually faded: “What exactly did you talk about earlier? As I understand it, this… Don Anderson young master came to apply for a position, didn’t he?”

Hearing this, Anderson, who was already surprised that the young woman knew his identity, became even more astonished. He looked at the captain in confusion and asked: “Respected… Captain, how do you know my identity and purpose? According to your first mate, I shouldn’t be in the intelligence provided by Miss Joyce.”
Though somewhat surprised, the young master still carefully concealed the captain’s surname.
Hearing Anderson’s question, Caine also turned his gaze toward Roy, curious about what the captain had been busy with all morning.
Feeling their curious gazes, the captain shrugged: “It’s no big deal, I naturally have my own channels… Well, since you’re so interested, I’ll tell you.”
“While my dear first mate was organizing the recruitment fair, I was in front of a jewelry store not far from the tavern, observing these applicants. As you know, among these people gathered from all directions, besides those wanting to join the ship for various reasons, there were also certain people’s spies.”
“Spies?”
Caine and Anderson spoke simultaneously. Clearly, whether in military careers or family affairs, there was no shortage of these rat-like sinister characters.
“Yes, spies, about three or four groups. Some came from my old friends, and as for the others…”
Roy tilted her head back and took a gulp of red wine, somehow drinking this expensive wine as if it were rum. She wiped the corner of her mouth, her smile gradually turning cold: “Naturally they were sent by my former first mate and mortal enemy. There were quite a few familiar faces among them.”

With the conversation reaching this point, the captain’s next actions became obvious.
“You took care of all of them?”
Caine frowned slightly, considering the pros and cons: “Wouldn’t that alert them?”
“Relax, I’m certainly not stupid enough to kill them all.”
Roy shook her head and gently patted her first mate’s arm: “These spies have been comfortable for too long. They probably never imagined anyone on the island would dare to move against them, so I easily tracked them. In the end, though, I only eliminated the Constantine’s crew members.”
“This serves as a warning, and also as a smoke screen I’ve thrown out. By not touching Richi’s people and only killing Solomon’s subordinates, they’ll find it difficult to suspect me, and will only think it was a perfectly normal act of revenge. After all, yesterday’s conflict in the Banshee’s Eye was witnessed by many.”
“And that’s not all.”
Looking at her contemplative first mate, Roy smiled languidly: “In the current climate where the Black Emperor has returned to Yadris and holds great power, few dare to confront him directly. With that little bastard’s vigilance and sensitivity, he might still have suspicions about my identity, and that’s exactly what I want.”

“By applying pressure through an inescapable fog of mystery, making him suspicious, making him nervous, making him so restless he can’t even sleep soundly—then, he’ll expose weaknesses. He’ll come to Yadris personally to confirm his suspicions, and at that moment…”
“That will be our best opportunity,” Caine smiled as he picked up the thread.
Roy clapped her hands, the crisp sound gradually spreading through the hall. She looked at her first mate with approval: “Exactly so.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, truly a good strategy, but Captain, how can you be sure that butcher will act according to your expectations?”
Seeing the two so in tune with each other, Anderson shook his head and clicked his tongue a few times, then offered his analysis: “In my view, he might blockade Yadris and have his subordinates search inch by inch, or simply push everything onto the Black Emperor while remaining an observer himself.”
The young master’s view wasn’t without reason. If it were an ordinary first mate who had usurped power, knowing that his former captain might appear in his territory, he would naturally choose the most appropriate and safest approach.
Either commanding from a warship, directing his subordinates in a carpet-style manhunt, or using his ally as a probe.
“You don’t understand Richi, which is why you have such thoughts.”
Roy snorted derisively, looking at Anderson expressionlessly: “The Black Emperor isn’t a fool. After I’ve given him such a warning, with his cautious nature, he absolutely won’t make any extra moves in the short term. He’ll wait quietly like a shark, until the Mermaid takes a position, or until the moment I leave land and set sail.”

When is a pirate captain most powerful? Not on someone else’s territory, nor at a pointless negotiating table, but on their own pirate ship, on the vast and dangerous ocean.
At sea, the Constantine had the qualifications to challenge the Mermaid.
“As for the little bastard… no matter who attacked his ally in Yadris, as long as there’s a possibility, even just a one in ten thousand chance that it’s me, he will definitely show up, bringing the Mermaid and his loyal subordinates back.”
“And all I need is for the Mermaid to dock.”
Roy tilted her chin slightly, looking down at Anderson. She didn’t say anything more about what would happen after the Mermaid docked, because that wasn’t something an outsider like him should know.
“Well, that’s enough about our business. The young master was wondering how I could recognize you, right? It’s actually very simple. While pursuing those spies, I encountered your, um, certain friend. After prying open his mouth, your arrival was no longer a secret.”
Anderson’s dark golden pupils contracted slightly, and then he narrowed his eyes dangerously, his eyes revealing a chilling light that made one’s heart tremble.
“What did you do to Antonio?”
