Captain – Chapter 270 – The Blade Falls Like Judgment
Captain – Chapter 270 – The Blade Falls Like Judgment
“Oh, I missed.”
Seeing the flower of blood blooming on the Governor’s shoulder, Roy’s eye twitched as she somewhat sheepishly put away her short pistol.
Although she carried a pistol at her crew’s insistence, being a pirate captain, she rarely used it. When she did use it, she mostly relied on instinct, naturally unable to demand much accuracy.
In her view, this “little monster” that spat fierce flames and fired deadly bullets had limited accuracy, strict environmental requirements, and the constraint of loading one shot at a time, making it fairly ineffective in the midst of blade-flashing combat.
Of course, this was only true for someone with her monstrous physique.
After patting the gun holster and quietly complaining that it was “not good to use,” the Captain took up her blood-stained curved knife and rushed toward the wounded Robert.
The young woman moved extremely fast.
She agilely vaulted over rubble and ruined walls, her golden hair flowing like a waterfall with her movements. Her light, nimble appearance, accompanied by the receding flashes of lightning, made her seem like a sea gull crying out to the thunder, soaring against the wind and rain.
No matter how fast the Captain ran, she ultimately couldn’t outpace the speed of escaping light. After a brief interval, she was once again shrouded in shadow, disappearing from the Governor’s sight, but his feeling of extreme unease simply wouldn’t fade away.
“Kill her…”

Feeling the burning pain from his shoulder, feeling the waves of cold that came with the loss of blood, Robert finally remembered the terror of approaching death that he hadn’t experienced for decades.
Hearing the Governor’s low whisper, the servants looked at each other, seemingly hesitating between following his order and continuing to guard him closely to ensure his maximum safety.
Seeing this, several blue veins bulged at the corners of the man’s eyes as he growled at them: “Didn’t you hear me? Go kill her!”
Seeing that the Governor had made up his mind, the servants finally moved, disappearing into the oncoming shadows.
Although for the sake of discretion while serving at his side, these assassins carried only daggers and short swords, the sufficiently sharp blades were all coated with deadly poison that could kill with just a drop of blood, making them extremely dangerous.
Moreover, those left by Tomb Bat to protect Robert’s personal safety were all experts in close combat from among the assassins, so even though their numbers had been reduced by the earlier artillery fire, they still posed considerable trouble for Roy.
However… it was merely trouble.
The gleaming flash of a blade appeared and vanished, taking with it an arm tightly gripping a dagger. Blood gushed unstoppably, creating a small rain of blood in the darkness.
With a “puff” sound, giving the assassin no chance to retreat, regroup, or counterattack, Roy used her terrifying speed to brush past him. Simultaneously, she opened a horrifying gash in his throat, nearly decapitating him completely.

The Captain had just dispatched one person and hadn’t yet had time to assess the situation when a sharp sound of a blade cutting through air suddenly came from her right front.
This strike came so fast and so secretly that by the time Roy reacted, she could already feel the air current hitting her face, mere inches away. At this point, trying to twist her body to avoid it had become impossible.
Additionally, footsteps also sounded simultaneously from behind and to her left. This wasn’t because the assassins lacked skill or proper control of their stealth, but because they had found the perfect moment and were sacrificing everything for speed.
In such a situation, not only would they expose themselves, even if they faced a curved knife pointed directly at them, they would still rush forward like moths to a flame.
As long as they could scratch the young woman’s skin with their daggers, even if it was just an imperceptibly small wound, it would be enough to secure victory.
Unfortunately, with Roy’s understanding of these Black Raven Society rats, how could she possibly give them such an opportunity?
Too late to turn around, too late to raise her knife, but Roy’s left hand, which had been empty all along, had already swept past the fallen corpse and moved directly toward the dagger stabbing toward her cheek, then firmly gripped the assassin’s wrist!
With this move, the dagger’s advance was immediately greatly reduced, but it still slowly approached the young woman’s eyes.
The cold light of the blade reflected in her dark golden pupils, but there wasn’t the slightest tremor, because when the tip of the knife was less than an inch from the young woman’s eyes, no matter how much force the assassin applied, he couldn’t make it advance even a fraction more.
As for twisting his wrist, that was completely out of the question.

With absolute confidence in her strength and precision, the Captain forcibly turned what was an obvious vulnerability into an absolute counter against the assassin before her, as well as sweet bait to lure the other two rats into the open.
Holding that wrist, Roy pulled the man off balance toward her, then violently drove her knee into his chest!
“Crack.”
Hearing the faint sound of breaking bones, the young woman tossed the man’s limp body like a sandbag toward the direction from which the footsteps behind her had come, then raised her knife to strike down at another assassin who had exposed himself and was already approaching her.
When facing a curved knife, the greatest advantages of daggers and short swords are their agility and speed. With the element of surprise, there might still be a slight chance of success.
But once their whereabouts were exposed before getting close, with the insurmountable disadvantage in reach, their effectiveness became almost nil.
So, not surprisingly, that person’s arm was also cut off by Roy, and after being stabbed through the heart with the curved knife, he made no more sound.
Without the help and cover of his companions, the remaining lone assassin naturally couldn’t pose a threat. Before long, after the chilling sound of a blade piercing a throat, the battle in the shadows finally came to an end.
Along with those intimidating footsteps, the young woman’s somewhat rapid breathing became increasingly clear. Finally, illuminated by the spreading firelight, Roy appeared before the Governor, who had somehow circled around the round table and was laboriously moving along the broken wall under the heavy rain.

The occasional flashes of lightning from the shattered floor-to-ceiling windows nearby made the Captain’s face appear even paler.
However, that delicate face—which would not be outdone even when compared to truly noble-blooded, world-class beauties—now bore many bloodstains that even the rain could not wash away.
In that pair of eyes with dark golden irises like cooling magma, there reflected a terrifying light that sent chills down one’s spine. In that indifferent gaze, one could find no fluctuations related to any emotion whatsoever.
“Wait, child…”
No longer able to cover the ceaselessly bleeding wound on his shoulder, the pale-faced Robert raised his hand tremblingly, weakly calling to the young woman, trying to temporarily halt her approaching steps, or perhaps hoping to evoke the struggle and emotions hidden deep in her heart.
What he didn’t know was that in Roy’s heart, that last bit of complex feeling toward him had turned to smoke and scattered away without the slightest lingering attachment the moment that gunshot preventing her departure had sounded.
“No, no…”
Seeing the fear in the man’s eyes, hearing his hoarse pleas, the Captain stood before him, and then, disregarding any reaction from him, unhesitatingly thrust her knife into his body, and that low sound…
Was like judgment upon all his sins.
