Captain – Chapter 31 – Fiancée
Captain – Chapter 31 – Fiancée
At some point, the young imperial officer had walked out of the pavilion and stood not far from the two.
Roy didn’t turn her head, but gloomy storm clouds began brewing in those dark golden pupils. She asked in an extremely cold voice: “What is it? Can’t bear to part with your Lieutenant Uncle?”
Through the lieutenant’s form of address for Caine, Roy easily understood the relationship between the two.
Since Scorpion Lion had been lurking in Frans Island’s garrison for who knows how many years, naturally he had also accompanied Caine during his childhood. It was quite normal for there to be some sentiment between them.
But the problem was, this was a member of the Black Raven Society.
Whether southern pirates or imperial and federation soldiers, anyone with knowledge of the Black Raven Society understood the coldbloodedness and cruelty of these people.
An organization capable of slaughtering an entire village of innocent civilians for a vague sense of justice, capable of burning to death a six-year-old girl for revenge—one didn’t need to guess what kind of sins the power echelon from such an organization had committed. Such a person wasn’t deserving of even a bit of sympathy.
“No.”
Caine’s gaze followed a trail of blood on the ground, finally landing on the captain’s hand that was still dripping with fresh blood: “I’m just concerned about your hand. If not treated promptly, there might be aftereffects. So please be a bit quicker.”
Roy was momentarily taken aback, and instead slowed her actions. The corner of her mouth curved into her signature smile: “Don’t you have anything you want to ask him? Or don’t you think it would be more helpful to hand him over to the military alive?”
Caine was silent for a moment: “I no longer wish to recall past events. I just want them to die. Dead is good.”

“Then farewell, dear Mr. Scorpion Lion.”
This was the last statement the lieutenant heard before losing consciousness. He tiredly closed his eyes, leaving only a helpless and bitter smile.
So Bee Bat was right; the one following beside the Young Master was actually…
Captain Roy.
At the moment Scorpion Lion’s soul departed, in a place beyond the reach of Roy and Caine’s sight, a black raven with blood-red eyes let out a few low cries, flapping its wings to fly away like the wind.
“Just apply pressure; it’s fine. I’m not some delicate noble lady. I won’t howl over this bit of pain.”
Looking at her first mate’s cautious manner while bandaging her, Roy complained.
After ending Scorpion Lion’s life, Caine had led his captain into the castle’s study, startling the Major who was blissfully savoring high-grade wheat wine. He remained stunned for quite a while, only coming to his senses when Caine demanded he make room.
Under Caine’s almost cold commands and narration, the Major quickly understood the general course of events and the seriousness of the situation. After panting to find a doctor from the medical room, he again panted to assemble the soldiers.
It must be said that although this Major had aged and his figure had filled out considerably, his efficiency in handling matters remained extremely fast. With just a few almost shouted commands, the entire castle immediately entered a state of combat readiness. Even through the wooden windows of the study, one could see the bright glow of kerosene lamps and the glinting silver knives.

As for the doctor, after being coldly rejected by Caine, he had no choice but to hand over the disinfection and bandaging tools to him, then stand by watching with an uneasy mind.
But soon, the doctor’s worries all vanished, because he discovered that this young man who could casually command the Major seemed to know very well how to handle such a tricky injury.
Quickly, white gauze covered the hideous wounds.
“I never would have guessed, you know medicine too?”
Roy looked at her palm back and forth, saying with considerable surprise: “Does this mean we don’t need to recruit a ship’s doctor anymore?”
Caine, who was tidying up the medical supplies, paused at these words, then sighed helplessly: “I only learned wound bandaging at the military academy. I’m completely ignorant about other aspects. If Captain, you don’t mind lying in bed after food poisoning, perhaps you could make such a decision.”
“Uh… then, never mind.”
Thinking about the seriousness of food poisoning at sea, Roy sheepishly abandoned this idea.
“Moreover, I’m your first mate, not a captive. Don’t pile all the hard and tiring tasks on me.”
Caine returned the medical wooden box to the doctor, casually saying “you can go now,” then turned his gaze back to the captain’s face, reminding her with displeasure.

“I know, I know.” Roy’s expression was full of “I’m not listening.”
The headache was about to attack again. Just as Caine was about to teach the captain what respect meant, the door, which had been closed when the doctor left, opened again.
The Major, his head covered in sweat, walked in. After looking around and finding no place to sit, he plopped down rudely on the desk, not even caring about the military reports pressed under him.
“Finally… finally finished. This bout of running was more than my combined exercise over the past three years.” The Major grabbed the opened wheat wine and gulped it down, barely calming his panting before complaining tiredly.
“How many years has it been since you properly exercised…” Caine’s train of thought was interrupted by the suddenly intruding Major, and he frowned at him.
“About twenty years or so.” The Major puffed out his chest, full of pride, as if those twenty years of laziness had been exchanged for the empire’s current strength.
Unable to say anything to him, Caine rubbed his temples, turning the topic back from the Major’s midlife crisis: “Being able to find the Black Raven Society’s mole in the military this time was purely luck, and it took the risk of my death to draw out such a big fish. If they have any more eyes at the higher levels of the military…”
“You can rest assured about this. In the past dozen years, Governor Federo has vigorously purged potential troublemakers in the military, already killing the Black Raven Society’s scouts clean. Only this executioner named Scorpion Lion, who concealed his identity for decades, along with the cover provided by those fools from the Federation, could escape from one purge after another.”
When talking about official business, the Major immediately became serious.
“That’s for the best. I don’t wish for the events of twelve years ago to recur.” Caine nodded, relaxing slightly.

“Hey, haven’t you forgotten something?” The captain, who had been ignored by the two for a long time, crossed her arms with displeasure, shifting their attention to herself.
“This lady is…”
Looking at the bandages wrapped around Roy’s hands, recalling the bloodstains found during the earlier scene inspection, the Major suddenly remembered a piece of information he had overlooked in his mind: who exactly was the person who had engaged in a life-and-death struggle with Scorpion Lion?
It couldn’t have been the Young Master. Aside from the fact that Caine didn’t have a scratch on him, with just the combat skills learned from the military academy, he simply couldn’t be a match for the well-prepared Scorpion Lion. So there was only one possibility left…
The one who could use a pistol without ammunition, or simply put, bare hands, to kill the powerful third-in-command executioner of the Black Raven Society, was the exquisite-looking young woman before him, who seemed like a dazzling jewel. Then she absolutely couldn’t just be a dance partner the Young Master had found.
So who exactly was she?
Being sized up by the Major’s dangerous gaze, Roy’s mouth twitched, revealing a nervous smile: “I am… I am…”
“I know!”
Roy suddenly had an idea, pointing at Caine: “I’m his fiancée!”
