Captain – Chapter 486 – Delirium
Captain – Chapter 486 – Delirium
After leaving the Banshee’s Eye, Roy arrived on the Mermaid before her deadly duel with Richi, before its journey home, witnessing the unbearable pillaging and two successive meetings targeting her—all passing in the blink of an eye.
In this dream where truth and falsehood intertwined, she could not only see previously unseen scenes from the past timeline but also control the flow of time, making it dance according to her will.
With her glowing devil’s eyes, she could capture every detail of those scenes without missing anything.
After reaching an agreement with the Constantine, the Mermaid set sail again, heading toward Yadris under the cover of gloomy clouds to execute that judgment of the Golden-Eyed Devil.
And that young man whom Roy had forgotten yet still felt close to, after the meeting ended, had shut himself in the pitch-black captain’s quarters, without lighting any candles, sitting quietly.
At this point, the rushing time returned to normal.
The Captain walked past the desk and sat on the familiar large bed, watching the young man’s thin silhouette, sharing the oppression of his silence, seeing him take out crystal vials, small boxes, and containers holding bizarre insects from his bosom, hesitating before putting them back.
But soon, he took them out again.
Like a knot that could never be untied, the young man repeatedly went through this process, struggling internally countless times. Finally, he got up, climbed onto the bed, pushed open the porthole, and facing the increasing sea breeze, threw all these deadly items overboard.
Who knows what he felt watching his painstaking work being washed away by the sea waves.
Roy only knew that after closing the window, he leaned against the wooden wall, his head lowered, sitting for a long time, looking just like when he huddled in the corner of that alley in Ilruwin many years ago.
In the end, he still chose her, just as he did at the end of the ice sea incident.
Time began to rush by again, and the young man silently left.

Only Roy remained in the captain’s quarters.
“This is the weakness of human nature, child. Haven’t you seen through it yet?”
In the seemingly rushing time, the Captain heard the devil’s whisper, while feeling the joy and calling of the great power within her, as if saying that by choosing them, she could be free from all weakness and suffering, becoming a completely different being.
Becoming a perfect creature.
“But this is exactly why I should return to the human world—for him and more people like him, for the emotions and bonds between them that make me feel my existence.”
“Unlike now.”
Time returned to its normal course. She had reached her interim stop.
Roy stood up and walked toward the wooden door. During this time, she didn’t hear the devil’s temptation again.
But as she was about to reach the door, it opened by itself.
A young man with eyes similar to hers, carrying a medical box, with a hurried expression, appeared before the young lady. Although she had forgotten his name, she vaguely remembered he was the ship’s doctor.
Seeing Roy about to leave, the ship doctor slapped his forehead, showing frustration at being tricked: “Damn it, that boy Daniel said you had passed out from excessive bleeding?”
“Yet here you are, perfectly fine…”
Before the young man could finish complaining, the young lady stepped forward, patted his shoulder as if knighting him, then squeezed through the gap beside him onto the bustling deck.

The cannon fire had ceased, and the boarding battle had begun.
Ahead was the now paralyzed Constantine, and opposite, the severely damaged Orca.
The outcome of this battle was never in doubt.
“Captain, aren’t you worried at all?”
The young man’s indignation mysteriously disappeared after the encouraging pat from the young lady. He followed her to the side of the ship, looking at the intense battle opposite, and asked softly.
“Worried about what?”
Hearing her confused response, the ship doctor shrugged as if understanding her thoughts: “The boarding battle situation is nothing to worry about, of course. Between us and the Orca’s crew, we probably outnumber them three to one. But before entering the captain’s quarters, I saw…”
“That guy went into the Constantine’s captain’s quarters alone.”
The young man put the medical box aside and, in the fleeting electric light, looked toward the bridge of the battleship opposite, at that wide-open wooden door, clicking his tongue: “You know, the Black Emperor might be hiding there. Though he’s decent at naval battles, when it comes to fighting…”
“Who is he?”
His words interrupted, the ship doctor didn’t sigh or complain about rudely interrupting others, but rather turned his face somewhat stiffly, looking at her in confusion.
“You, you’re scaring me, Captain. You didn’t hit your head in the previous fight, did you?”
“What do you think?”

Seeing the young lady frown with displeasure, the young man looked at her smooth forehead, thinking wasn’t there a bruise before, then looking at her expression, felt she wasn’t joking and gave an explanation.
“He’s your First Mate. How can you not recognize him? You two were inseparable earlier.”
“First Mate…”
Roy murmured, the light in her eyes rapidly flickering, as if catching something.
So you are my First Mate.
The blank silhouette in her memory gradually transformed into a blurry figure. Although the face wasn’t clear, the physique was completely consistent with the person in the pocket watch. The young lady’s breathing became slightly rapid, and after asking about that person’s whereabouts from the ship doctor, she casually found an excuse to dismiss him.
Watching the Captain jump onto the ship’s railing and swing away on a rope, the young man was momentarily stunned, thinking hadn’t you all agreed that the next part was his responsibility? Why are you going personally now?
The sound of wind in her ears gradually slowed, and the raindrops hitting her face were no longer as sudden as before. Everything seemed to slow down. Roy released the rope and landed on the deck of the Constantine. In the slowed time, she ran toward the position the ship doctor had indicated.
She had slowed the dream’s time, as if afraid he would leave too quickly.
When the rain sound became urgent again and the pirates’ slow-motion fighting resumed its fluidity, the Captain had already run across the deck, climbed the spiral stairs, and stood before that wide-open wooden door.
But… it seemed she was still too late.
He wasn’t in the captain’s quarters.
Walking slowly into the dim room, Roy approached the man leaning against the corner, pale-faced and no longer breathing. Looking at where he had been stabbed, she thought to herself, that was indeed clean.

Clean like a true pirate.
“How could you have such a thought?”
Footsteps sounded from behind, and the young lady knew without turning that it was the devil. He should have been sitting on the lonely island, watching this good show to the end, yet he suddenly appeared.
As if trying to hide something.
“Think about it, child. How could a mortal, even if they could strangely enter a dream, possibly change this world? Even if, taking a huge step back, he could truly influence it…”
“Why wouldn’t you be able to sense it?”
The devil’s footsteps paused, as did his words, but they indeed made Roy feel somewhat lost.
What he said wasn’t wrong. Since the pocket watch started ticking and fate’s wheel began turning, the great power within her had escaped control, but in other words, it had also reached its most prosperous moment ever.
Here, she was a deity. No one should be able to escape her eyes.
Unless…
After a long silence, the young lady’s soft voice suddenly sounded in the room, as ethereal as sleep-talking.
“You are that ghost.”
