Captain – Chapter 510 – Death Scripture
Captain – Chapter 510 – Death Scripture
As the young woman’s heavy words fell, the atmosphere in the room immediately became much more oppressive.
The brief silence that followed was unlike the previous peaceful, reassuring one. Instead, it resembled the calm before a storm, making one feel as if dark clouds were pressing down, making it difficult to breathe.
“Well, actually, there might not necessarily need to be a reason.”
Somewhat disliking this atmosphere, especially since it involved the two most important people in her life currently caught in such strange circumstances, even Roy couldn’t help feeling nervous and uneasy. She awkwardly tried to smooth things over.
“After all, this isn’t the first time we’ve encountered such strange phenomena.”
Faced with the captain’s explanation, the blood-craver sighed helplessly and shook her head very seriously, insisting: “Captain Roy, absolutely nothing in this world happens without reason. Even the Lady, when laying out her plans, must follow rules.”
“It’s just that the constraints the deities must accept are far beyond our understanding.”
Hearing this, Caine’s gaze slightly focused as he suddenly recalled the foreboding feeling that had welled up in his heart when he saw those jumping, constantly changing starlight characters.
That feeling was like having his fate mercilessly bound by cold chains.
“I think she’s right, Captain.”
Roy was about to say something, but her First Mate spoke first, taking the initiative.
Meeting the captain’s slightly puzzled gaze, the young man, though aware that he might be targeted by something, still calmly said: “While I cannot fully comprehend the exact symbolism contained in that writing, I at least know…”
“Being able to read it is definitely not a good thing.”
Turning his eyes toward the man who still wore a frivolous expression but whose gorgeous purple eyes showed hidden interest, Caine said flatly: “I think regarding this matter, our opinions should be consistent. Don’t you agree, Captain Enzo?”
Lightly clapping his hands, Enzo expressed his approval while naturally shifting everyone’s attention back to himself, smiling as he said: “I have no objection to that.”

“It’s Death Scripture.”
These words were directed at Vivian.
Seeing the blood-craver’s rare emotional reaction after hearing this term, the man shrugged and said: “Of course, this is just its name as circulated in the Holy Church. Different sects have their own terms, but regardless of which faction…”
“The interpretation of this script is exactly the same across all of them.”
“That’s right.”
Following the man’s words, the young woman said in a slightly deep voice: “Regardless of how doctrines or times change, it always has only one symbolic meaning—a prayer that guides the dying to hell, a sign that eternal sleep is approaching.”
“The question is, why can you two understand it?”
This question was somewhat redundant.
Because according to the young woman, only those near death would be guided by the Death Scripture. Since Caine and Enzo could understand it, it naturally meant…
Even if they weren’t in the realm of death, they were already standing on the cliff edge before the abyss.
A simple deduction, yet it sent chills through everyone.
“No, surely it’s not that serious?”
The silence brought by the question didn’t last long before being broken by Roy’s questioning voice. Her gaze moved back and forth between the faces of the two men whom the blood-craver had practically pronounced “dead,” her eyes full of incredulity, thinking they seemed perfectly fine.
“I can’t draw a conclusion.”

Faced with the collective gaze, Vivian gently shook her head and explained: “After all, I’ve only heard about these secrets from the Lady, without experiencing them firsthand.”
“Perhaps the Death Scripture they saw isn’t the legendary kind.”
This was meant as comfort, but the effect was obviously minimal.
Concern still lingered in the captain’s eyes, and even Mr. Wyatt, who stood beside Enzo and seemed to have only one expression, couldn’t help but furrow his brow.
Surprisingly, the two men in question, whether it was Enzo, who was quite knowledgeable about this script, or Caine, who had just learned of its symbolism, remained calm and composed, showing no nervousness, as if completely unconnected to the matter.
“Since we can’t reach a conclusion, discussing this further won’t be meaningful. Everyone, let’s return to the topic of that guide.”
Not dwelling on this any longer, Enzo said straightforwardly. Seeing Roy press her lips, looking at him as if wanting to say something, he slightly raised his hand, giving her no chance to speak, only smiling faintly as he said: “Little Roy, could it be that…”
“You still believe in that vague concept of fate?”
Stalled by the question, the captain was momentarily at a loss for words, finally just shaking her head with a bitter smile.
She had once said she didn’t believe in fate.
But the words “don’t believe” weren’t a complete denial in the literal sense.
Having experienced so many changes, even a life manipulated by that ancestor for more than a decade, Roy not only hadn’t surrendered but believed more firmly that there was no predetermined fate in the world. Even if there was, it was humanly arranged.
Just a false show.
But could such a puppet-like journey really be called fate?

She truly didn’t believe in these things.
What changed her view of these two words were the different yet interconnected interpretations of fate by the Lady, First Mate Isaac, and even the still-sleeping cat, as well as the dream she personally experienced where she touched those invisible threads.
Thus, she knew that fate truly exists, comprised of countless connections and coincidences, not the plaything described by the devil. Attempting to manipulate it was nonsensical.
It was more like a gentle elder, a radiant lighthouse, guiding you to keep moving forward.
“But this could very well be a conspiracy, or some kind of warning.”
After thinking for a moment, the captain still spoke up.
However, the content was completely different from her previous thoughts. She looked at the blood-craver and asked: “Vivian, according to you, this so-called Death Scripture can only be understood by those near death, so… what about the person who carved them on the stone tablets?”
“Are they already in hell, or still wandering in the present world?”
This question, while still not diverting from the Death Scripture, was related to that guide.
Lightly tapping her crystal glass, Vivian looked at the wine rippling within and, after contemplating for a while, said: “In no record from any time or place has there ever been a living person who could write down, no, should I say, project the Death Scripture.”
“This kind of script isn’t written with a pen or carved in stone, but a process of thought transmission.”
“Only those who have stepped into the realm of death can, under special circumstances, leave their final thoughts. So in most cases, Captain, your view is correct.”
“Most cases?”
Repeating these four words, the captain raised her eyebrows slightly, knowing there must be more to come.

“Yes, generally speaking, the inscribers of Death Scripture have undoubtedly passed away.”
The finger tapping on the glass paused, and the blood-craver lifted her eyes, looking around at everyone, confirming they had all processed the information before continuing: “But there are no absolutes. The Lady once witnessed evidence outside common sense.”
“That is… someone neither living nor dead, existing between the present world and the netherworld.”
Seeing Roy’s eyes turn slightly, first looking at herself then fixing on Richi, Vivian knew what she was thinking and denied it: “This has nothing to do with eternity, nor does it have any connection with Death-Fearers, those pseudo-immortals.”
“It’s an unimaginable state, impossible to describe with words alone.”
With things said to this point, Roy knew that unless the Lady suddenly appeared, digging deeper into this language would be meaningless for people like them.
“Alright, alright, if there’s no solution, and we can’t even describe it, then let’s set this matter aside for now. So, everyone, after thinking for so long, does anyone have any thoughts on that guide? I’m completely clueless.”
With her elbow propped on the table, Roy supported her chin with her hand, asking listlessly.
They hadn’t found a clue about Aegis yet, and suddenly this Death Scripture appeared, tainting her First Mate and former guide with ill omens. No matter how carefree she was, she couldn’t help feeling somewhat dejected.
However, that spiritless appearance was completely dispelled by Enzo’s plain words that immediately followed. The captain immediately sat up straight, eyes slightly widened as she looked at him.
“Speaking of which, I do have a guess.”
At these words, all of Enzo’s laziness and frivolity vanished without a trace, replaced by a different kind of solemnity: “If I remember correctly, the last stop Captain Gerard passed through before losing contact…”
“Was the Death Silence Triangle.”
