Captain – Chapter 585 – Destiny and Miracle
Captain – Chapter 585 – Destiny and Miracle
As the skeletal giant ship drew closer, the atmosphere aboard the Nightmare King grew increasingly heavy.
Just as the young man had said, he—no, the three of them—who could be counted among those with the strongest will and conviction in the present world, had absolutely no confidence when facing that combination. The pirates, who didn’t know the full story but had sensed something, were naturally even more desperate.
Both because of the spreading speculation about the ghost ship’s origins, and because of Richi’s orders.
He had said before that if they fell into the water, they would absolutely not escape that monster’s hunt, but now he was ordering them to abandon ship and enter the sea.
This obvious contradiction, along with his hesitation when giving the order, already said a lot.
This was bound to be a fatal battle with no chance of survival.
Even the Blood-Eyed Butcher had no confidence.
If that was the case, why should they submit to him and foolishly follow him to their deaths?
The captured pirates almost all thought this way, but deterred by the fierce water ghosts around them, no one had the courage to push this thought toward mutiny.
They only wanted to escape early.
Though they knew that drifting alone in the great Triangle made survival nearly impossible, clinging to faint hope was much better than dying immediately.
With this thought, the pirates could no longer care about anything else. Ignoring the water ghosts’ roars and Ferguson’s curses, they climbed over the railings one after another and fell toward the lightless sea surface.
The guarding water ghosts reacted quickly enough, but in the end they only managed to keep less than half the men. The rest of the pirates all successfully jumped ship.
Hearing the commotion, the young man at the bow walked over slowly.

Seeing those black boots that drew closer and closer, finally stopping a few steps away, the pirates who had been either raging and struggling or miserably begging for mercy after being “robbed of hope” all fell silent, instantly transforming into docile rabbits.
“No, no, no, Captain Richi, please believe me, they just lost their minds…”
Seeing the young man’s indifferent expression, Ferguson hurriedly brought the few remaining subordinates who hadn’t gone mad and jumped into the sea to approach him, pleading humbly.
But before the first mate could finish speaking, Richi raised his hand to interrupt him, while saying emotionlessly: “I understand. Release them all.”
Receiving the order, the water ghosts roared threateningly while obediently withdrawing their hands.
The freed pirates quickly got up, huddled together and retreated to the ship’s rail, breathing heavily as if they had survived a disaster, their gazes toward the young man full of fear.
“I remember I promised that if you wanted to jump ship, I absolutely wouldn’t stop you.”
Richi looked at the pirates “seeking warmth together,” his eyes carrying a trace of pity, as if looking at a group of idiots. He waved his hand: “Anyone who wants to jump, hurry up and get lost.”
Seeing this, the pirates looked at each other, but surprisingly, after a long exchange of glances, not a single person went to embrace that so-called hope.
No one jumped into the sea. They only carefully turned their gazes back to the young man.
As if seeking an answer.
“Oh, no one wants to jump now?”
The young man asked for confirmation, and seeing no response, he shook his head with disinterest and walked toward the bow, leaving only his back and a casual curse.

“A bunch of hopeless idiots.”
Just when the pirates didn’t quite understand this curse, thinking he was simply venting, their bodies suddenly stiffened, because screams suddenly came from the distance.
Casting their gazes toward the sea surface, everyone discovered that those colleagues who had just fallen into the water and should have been swimming away were now all waving their hands, crying out to the warship for rescue, because they were being pulled toward the distance against their will.
Pulled by invisible undercurrents, or rather the noose of fate, toward that fog.
Toward the Drowned Captain.
Only then did they despairingly realize that this sea was no longer the one they knew. Since that ghost ship appeared, it had become its deadly hunting ground.
No one could leave.
Not bothering with those distant “sacrifices,” nor wanting to deal with those who perhaps feared pain and chose to climb down rather than jump, now sneaking back onto the deck, Richi calmly returned to the bow and patted the dragon’s coiled horn.
“Looks like it’s time to go up even when it’s not time.”
Smiling at the dragon that responded to him with a low growl, the young man took a deep breath and looked toward that skeletal giant ship that was now less than a nautical mile away from them.
But even so, because of the white fog, the light here was too dim, and the giant ship’s form was still covered by vast shadows, as was that person’s face.
But at least, the three could now see his emotionless blazing golden pupils, with thunder and fire within them, as if the next moment doomsday would arrive.
The devil’s great power would crush them to fragments.
“Everyone get ready.”

Hearing the young man’s reminder, looking directly at those golden pupils that would sting even his own devil’s eyes, Caine instinctively pressed his hand to the curved blade at his waist, his body tensing completely from that danger and pressure.
Captain Gerard, that is, Roy’s father, was ridiculously strong.
But even such an existence had still lost to that devil.
How terrifying must he be?
Facing that person, at such a moment, it seemed only continuous thinking could suppress the shadow in his heart. But Caine’s thoughts were soon interrupted by Richi’s slightly hoarse voice—it was a very simple plan.
Simple to the point of near madness.
“We’ll go up first with Nidhogg in a moment. The big guy will block that figurehead, we’ll head straight for Captain Gerard, and the others will help us buy time.”
Feeling Caine’s “are you serious” gaze, the young man shrugged indifferently: “Well, saying they’ll buy time is really just sending them to their deaths.”
“But what does it matter? Not to mention them—aren’t we also dancing with death? It would be good if we can take down Captain Gerard, but if we can’t…”
Pausing, Richi smiled bitterly: “We’ll meet again in the ship.”
In that “forest” composed of bones and flesh.
Thinking of that disgusting scene, Vivian pursed her lips and said with extreme disgust: “Then I’d rather the Lady had never fished me out of that whirlpool hundreds of years ago.”
The three either fell silent, smiled bitterly, or complained to relieve that pressure that made breathing difficult, but whatever they did, they couldn’t stop that ship’s approach.

Just like people could never resist destiny.
Unless…
His power was strong enough to change the course of events, even reverse fate.
Just as the three stopped talking, prepared for battle or even death, and were about to climb onto the dragon, the hysterical cries of those pirates who had been carried toward the fog gradually diminished and finally disappeared completely.
Not because they were swallowed by that ghost ship, but more like they had fallen into a daze from finding salvation in desperation.
The three immediately noticed the anomaly. After exchanging glances, they immediately stopped climbing and looked ahead, then saw that scene that could be called a miracle.
Those pirates floating like tiny dots actually stopped right in front of the fog, unable to advance another step, as if blocked by an invisible wall.
That sharpest death scythe of the devil, that death ship possessing near-divine great power, was likewise blocked behind the wall. Not only could it not sail out of that eerie fog, even its form began to blur and distort, obviously retreating backward.
It shouldn’t be called retreating, but rather like this mirage was becoming more and more distant in its flickering.
Until it was about to vanish from the world.
“Damn…”
Watching this incomprehensible scene, Richi repeated the word again, and his eyebrows, which had drooped somewhat from bitter smiling, couldn’t help but rise.
“What kind of development is this?”
