Captain – Chapter 91 – The Constantine

“Pleased to meet you, beautiful lady.”

The large man who approached Roy and her companion gave a deliberately restrained bow, the polite greeting creating a stark contrast with the twisted scar lines on his face that resembled earthworms.

Clearly, this was a dangerous man, the kind who used false courtesy to coerce others—a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Roy gave her displeased-looking first mate a knowing glance, then offered the large man a gentle and alluring smile: “Likewise. May I ask which pirate ship you belong to, sir?”

In Yadris, filled with pirates, your name wasn’t important. What mattered was which pirate ship you belonged to and what position you held on that ship.

Hearing her inquire about his vessel, the large man raised his chin slightly, his face showing additional arrogance: “The Constantine. I’m sure the lady has heard this name.”

“The Constantine… you mean Captain Solomon’s Constantine?”

The young woman’s eyes showed timely surprise and astonishment, her face full of admiration and disbelief.

The Constantine, Emperor of the Sea, was Captain Solomon Diggs’ vessel—a powerful warship of the same caliber as the Mermaid.

Even before Roy’s rise to prominence, the Black Emperor Solomon was a notorious figure in the Eastern Seas, the sworn enemy of Red Beard Ilias. After the old captain’s death, Captain Solomon had frequently harassed the Mermaid.

Yadris had once been Black Emperor’s territory. Here, he had endlessly accumulated silver and gold, allowed chaos to flourish, piled up the corpses of those who resisted like mountains, giving dogs and vultures their fill, transforming this abundant island into a true hell on earth.

Until that day when the Yadris naval battle occurred, the Constantine was defeated by the Mermaid. Captain Solomon abandoned hundreds of his subordinates’ corpses and fled in panic, abandoning his minions still on the island, barely saving his own life.

From then on, Yadris changed hands.

The Yadris naval battle was Roy’s first fight after revealing her ferocity, followed immediately by a series of clashes with the Auran Navy.

Finally, treading on the remains of countless warships, she became a legendary pirate in name and reality, and formally received control of Yadris from the Great Captain.

From then on, the Constantine, which had often lingered near Yadris due to its captain’s unwillingness to admit defeat, never appeared again.

So when Roy heard the name from the large man’s mouth, the surprise and astonishment in her eyes weren’t entirely feigned.

Very satisfied with the young woman’s reaction, the large man grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth: “Yes, lady, the Black Emperor’s warship, the famous Constantine.”

The large man made no attempt to hide, as if the Constantine’s return was a perfectly normal thing. Hearing the words “Black Emperor,” people who had originally been interested in the target of the large man’s attention all turned their heads away, seemingly no longer interested in the beautiful young woman.

“But from what I know, the Constantine isn’t allowed near Yadris.”

The admiration gradually faded from her face as Roy showed genuine concern: “Won’t the… ruler here be angry?”

“Ruler?”

Looking at the young woman’s pale golden hair and dark golden pupils identical to that captain’s, the large man suddenly shuddered. But remembering the news that had shocked the entire Southern Islands not long ago, he regained his confidence and composure.

Thinking the young woman was merely worried about displeasing the legendary figure by associating with the Constantine, the large man chuckled and explained: “Don’t worry, lady. That devil has long since sunk to the bottom of the sea. Yadris is now Captain Richi’s territory. He has formed an alliance with our captain and no longer restricts our entry.”

“I see.”

Roy sighed in relief, an innocent smile still hanging on her exquisite face, but in her eyes like molten magma, storms and giant waves gradually began to surge.

You little bastard, actually daring to let my old mortal enemy into Yadris, you’ve really done it…

Though her heart was full of cold killing intent, Roy didn’t reveal even the slightest hint of it. She asked curiously: “Then may I ask if Captain Solomon wants to invite me for a drink?”

“No, no, no. The captain is far too busy to come to a place like this. It’s our ship’s Fighting Squad leader, Lord Bazel.”

The large man’s face showed a trace of awkwardness, feeling the young woman before him was truly delusional. How could the Black Emperor possibly lower himself to sit on the first floor of the Banshee’s Eye?

Though it wasn’t the captain personally inviting her, or even the Constantine’s first mate, the identity of the Fighting Squad leader carried enough weight.

On a pirate ship, physical strength was an extremely important asset. The Fighting Squad members enjoyed treatment and status far higher than ordinary sailors, and their leader was the most powerful person on the entire ship after the captain and first mate.

“Oh, not the captain…”

Roy’s eyes revealed a hint of slight disappointment, an expression that wasn’t performed but genuine regret.

If Solomon dared to appear in the Banshee’s Eye, to appear before her, she wouldn’t give him a second chance to escape.

“Then I’m sorry, sir, but the Fighting Squad leader of the Constantine doesn’t have the qualification to invite me for a drink, or to put it another way…”

The captain’s face revealed a malicious smile: “He’s not even worthy to carry my shoes.”

Before the large man could react, a fair-skinned fist had already struck his nose bone. Due to the physiological pain, blood and tears splattered almost simultaneously. He howled miserably as he fell to the ground, clutching his nose and rolling continuously.

The large man’s howls reached everyone’s ears. People instinctively quieted down and looked in the direction of the sound, but quickly turned away again, continuing to drink and make merry, or pointing at the large man rolling on the ground and laughing loudly.

In the past Banshee’s Eye, such scenes were extremely rare, because anyone who dared to get violent here would be beaten unconscious by the Mermaid’s crew and would never have the opportunity to enjoy themselves in the tavern again.

But everything had changed not long ago, and those who dared to cause trouble in the Banshee’s Eye became more and more numerous. People had seen it often, so naturally, it was no longer strange.

After knocking down this “fuse” who had delivered himself to her doorstep, the captain smiled and dusted off her hands, looking toward the guards who were glancing at each other and then walking this way. She said to her first mate beside her: “See? It’s this simple.”

The smile on Roy’s face didn’t last too long, because the guards quickly stopped in their tracks.

Five people stood up from the table where the large man had come from. Four of them walked toward Roy and her companion with grim expressions, while the remaining one quickly approached the guards, saying something with a cold smile.

After hearing that person’s warning, the guards showed difficult expressions on their faces. After hesitating for a while, they still retreated, slightly lowering their heads to stare at their toes, as if they hadn’t seen anything.

“Oh… it seems there’s a bit of a problem with the Banshee’s Eye.”

Roy said, then stood up, cracking her knuckles with a crisp sound.
