Captain – Chapter 96 – Night Raid
Captain – Chapter 96 – Night Raid
“Captain, that’s not what you said earlier.”
Caine cautiously surveyed the surroundings, confirming that the streets weren’t filled with hostile Constantine crew members and that they weren’t being followed by anyone with ulterior motives. Only then did he withdraw his attention and question the clearly defeated captain.
“I… did I say something?”
Roy looked up at her first mate with a puzzled expression, as if she had truly forgotten everything she had said.
“Do I need to remind you? Who was it that said ‘Once I can see Little Cecilia, she’ll definitely recognize me’?” Caine imitated the captain’s previously confident tone, provoking a glare from the young woman.
Seeing the mischievous smile at the corner of the young man’s lips, Roy knew he was getting back at her for the rum incident, and grumbled: “I admit I overlooked something very important, which resulted in her not recognizing me in the end. That was indeed my mistake. Are you satisfied now?”
“Satisfied.”
Caine responded with a smile, then asked with some confusion: “But Captain, back on the deserted island, didn’t you say your name was a secret? How did the proprietress know it?”
“Oh, please, I deliberately let it slip while I was teasing her. It’s called charming women, understand? Never mind, it’s impossible to explain to someone like you who knows nothing about women.”
Looking at her first mate’s furrowed brow, Roy waved her hand, thoroughly chiding him before adding: “Besides, Little Cecilia is my woman. What’s the big deal about letting her know my real name?”
“In that case, knowing your name truly is my special privilege?” Hearing the implication in the captain’s words, Caine unusually teased.

Roy gave him a sidelong glance and replied matter-of-factly: “Of course, but if you dare spread it around, I’ll rip out your tongue.”
“As you command, I’ll keep it completely secret, my dear Captain.”
“That’s more like it.” Roy was about to praise her first mate’s awareness when his next sentence made her eye twitch.
“Is this what you call charming women, Captain?”
Glaring at the young man who could barely contain his smile, Roy gritted her teeth and said: “I suppose so.”
Seeing that the young woman was on the verge of exploding from his teasing, the first mate finally put away his smile and said seriously: “Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Captain, since Miss Joyce couldn’t recognize you, what should we do next?”
Looking back at the sign of the Banshee’s Eye, Caine’s expression gradually became somber.
According to Roy’s previous words, the proprietress should be the only person they could trust on the island now. If they couldn’t secure her help, it would become extremely difficult for them to understand the island’s current situation or gather intelligence on their enemies.
After all, the previous scenes had already made it clear that this was no longer the Yadris that Roy knew.
“What to do…”

Roy pondered, pinching her chin, when suddenly she remembered certain past experiences. Her dark golden pupils immediately brightened, and she snapped her fingers crisply: “Simple. Since she refuses to believe my identity, I’ll just present her with some irrefutable evidence.”
“But it seems a bit late for that now. The proprietress may not be willing to see us again,” Caine said with doubt.
Roy smirked: “Who said we need her consent?”
Hearing this, Caine raised his eyebrows, waiting for the young woman to continue, curious about what methods the captain might have in such a situation.
The captain leaned close to the young man’s ear and whispered: “We’ll raid at night.”
What is a night raid? It’s an extremely useful tactic, especially for pirates. Ambushing unsuspecting merchant ships under the cover of darkness was the most satisfying thing.
But clearly, these two words from Roy’s mouth didn’t represent a tactical maneuver, but rather another… somewhat underhanded behavior.
That is, raiding a young woman’s bedroom at night.
“This doesn’t seem right, Captain.”
The nights in Yadris weren’t dark, as unlike the cities of the Empire and Federation, it lacked systems of spies and cavalry patrols at night.
So even in the deepest hours of the night, the city’s streets remained filled with lights and people. The shops in the Horn of Plenty had no precedent for closing, making it a truly sleepless city.

As Yadris’s most famous tavern, the Banshee’s Eye naturally operated around the clock as well. The paintings and words on its sign were illuminated by hanging lanterns as clearly as in daylight, but these lights emanating from various parts of the tavern failed to find two shadows hidden in the nooks and crannies.
At this moment, one of these two shadows voiced opposition to this operation.
“What’s wrong with it? I’m going to find my woman—it’s perfectly natural.”
The other shadow fumbled in the pitch darkness, quickly finding protruding features to climb up, then called to the person who had spoken earlier: “Hurry up and follow. If you fall behind, I won’t come back to guide you.”
“Understood.” That person sighed helplessly, climbing along the path the other shadow had found, following closely behind.
Finally, after avoiding many lights and dodging the guards’ patrols, the two arrived at a balcony on the third floor of the Banshee’s Eye. At this level, the density of lights significantly decreased, with many guests having already fallen into dreams.
“Little Cecilia’s room is on the next floor up. Just a bit more.”
Starlight fell on the balcony, illuminating Roy’s fair face as she took a light breath, addressing the young man who was unaccustomed to this type of climbing activity and was wiping away sweat.
Hearing the captain’s tone like that of a habitual offender, Caine couldn’t help but ask: “How do you know… this route so well?”
“Do you even need to ask?”

Roy wore a shamelessly dazzling smile as she lowered her voice to say: “Of course it’s because this captain comes here often.”
“Oh, God.”
The upright former Auran officer shook his head and sighed, strongly disapproving of the pirate captain’s shameless behavior.
“What’s wrong? Feeling disillusioned? I told you, after understanding my true nature, you’d definitely change your view. How could a young master from a noble family like you possibly like…”
Caine raised his hand to interrupt the young woman’s narrative: “No, in the future, I’ll prevent such things from happening.”
Seeing that persuasion was futile, Roy shrugged: “Fine, fine, suit yourself.”
Without waiting for her first mate to react, Roy nimbly climbed up to the fourth floor along the outer edge of the balcony. After maneuvering around a small curve while holding onto the protruding windowsill, she climbed onto an especially spacious balcony. Facing this balcony was a floor-to-ceiling glass window with tightly drawn curtains.
Trying to push the window, Roy effortlessly pulled it open a small crack. The cool night breeze blew in through the gap, lifting a corner of the curtain to reveal an exquisitely crafted redwood bed, as well as Cecilia’s captivating profile.
Seeing this, a gentle smile spread across Roy’s face.
You still aren’t comfortable staying alone in enclosed spaces, Little Cecilia.
