Chapter 90: Qi Deviation
Gu Yunlan nodded her head still not understanding, she’ll just bear with it! She doesn’t even fear death, why would she fear hunger? Yet she still didn’t know just how terrible that blood-thirsty feeling is. It probably took half her health.
“You must restrain yourself from consuming anything, try not to eat anything! You control it during the daytime, I’ll control it at night!” Xuanyuan Ying’s pupils darkened, it can only be like this!
“I can’t even eat? Can I drink water?” She had to ask this question, isn’t this an attempt on her life? Who knew when the qu deviation would disappear. If it’s there are half a month, wouldn’t she starve to death even if she hasn’t died from stress?
“A bit. Don’t worry, it’ll be over quickly! If you can’t bear with it any longer, have Xin’er call for me! I will be there in the afternoon! Be good!” Xuanyuan Ying stood up, glancing at her before leaving the study room.
Gu Yunlan leaned on the table helplessly, bear it? She can’t! She doesn’t even dare meet with anyone in fear she’d be unable to stop herself from biting them. This isn’t good! She’s going to stay indoors during the day, then go to the veranda at night. Forget about going back, it’d be terrible if she accidently bit Xin’er.
When Xuanyuan Ying came back in the afternoon, he found Gu Yunlan’s figure in the study room. She was laying on the couch sleeping, her mouth was gagged with a handkerchief. Red marks lined her hands. He took out the handkerchief with mixed feelings of amusement yet grief. Carrying her up, he quickly left the study room and headed directly to garage out in the back courtyards.
A while later, a black Ford sped off from the Marshal Mansion and towards the Gu Family’s ancestral halls.
From the hindsight mirror, he watched the laid down Gu Yunlan. His brows creased, when he saw her just now, he actually felt grieved, what’s with that? Since when did he have any feelings like that?”
The car arrived at the halls very soon. After parking the car, he gently carried Gu Yunlan out of her car, careful to not wake her.
He only relaxed after laying her on the blankets, “Yunlan? Yunlan?”
He called out twice before Gu Yunlan slowly opened her eyes and smiled towards him, “Xuanyuan! You’re finally back! I almost couldn’t endure!”
“Be good!” Xuanyuan Ying stretched out his hand to try her pulse, after a while, he said under Gu Yunlan’s hopeful gaze, “Your blood is surging even worse than this morning. Yunlan, I really can’t help you now! You can only rely on yourself now! I’ll out up a barrier on the veranda, the rest is up to you!”
TN: wow that changed quickly
“Xuanyuan! You… you’re going to abandon me?” Gu Yunlan looked him finding it hard to believe, just this morning he said he’s there! That he’d be there for her at night!
“I’ll be guarding outside!” Seeing her miserable appearance, Xuanyuan Ying’s heart felt uncomfortable. He reached out his hands to touch her face, “Be good! You’ll be fine after doing this for a few days!”
“But, won’t I starve if I don’t eat for a few days?” Gu Yunlan looked at him somewhat grievously. Why could they exchange blood in the past, yet they can’t now?
“That’s impossible! I’m here!” Xuanyuan Ying put her down gently, then swiftly turned around to fly up towards the veranda opening. Seeing her pitiful appearance, he feared his heart would turn soft and would end up agreeing to exchange blood.
He didn’t tell her that this period is her most crucial time. If she were to exchange blood at this time, she’d turn cold and unfeeling. Even the six closest loved ones can’t be recognized. Although he had hoped for this in the past, but now he no longer wanted that. If only she could suffer for a few days, then she could become like Mengmeng and them, possibly be able to become a cultivator. No need to become like him.
He sat at the edge of the veranda, covering his stomach. He can feel himself changing more and more. Since exchanging blood, he’s changed a lot. It was mostly because of her, could he have already…
Xuanyuan Ying jolted in shock, he has emotions now. Should he be happy about it?
Gu Yunlan laid on the blanket, watching his figure flying away. She found it incredulous as she watched him fly out of the veranda. He really left her alone!
As she lamented over Xuanyuan Ying ditching her there, hunger attacked again. Even worse was that thirst for blood. At first she could just lay there unmovingly, but ended up rolling around from the pain.
One day, two days, she rolled about trying to endure it. Sweat had already long wet her clothing, causing it to stick onto her body. She didn’t know how much time had passed. Her lips were nipped open in fear of biting her own tongue, a silk towel stayed in her mouth as before.
Hungry, so hungry! Gu Yunlan once again twisted in pain, oh no! The thirst for blood came again, what now? She can resist hunger, but the thirst for blood is uncontrollable. She could only feel that terrible thirst for blood tightly enveloping her.
Fear washed over her, as she immediately rolled around in more pain, this won’t do! She can’t take this. Her teeth itch, she must bite something. Gritting her teeth, she ripped out the towel from her mouth. She extended her elbows; biting herself should be fine!
“Big Sis! Shut your eyes, let your consciousness sink into the sea, that same place you were shut in before!” Just as she was about to bite her elbow, a delicate voice sounded. She immediately felt her head cool down, her mind immediately started to clear.
Xuanyuan Ying sitting above felt alarmed. This woman has gone crazy, and would actually bite herself. Just as he was about to interfere, he saw her put down her elbow again.
Xuanyuan Ying released a breath. In these two days, she struggled to endure. He watched from above not daring to leave. If anything goes wrong, her life could be in danger.
Her consciousness is sinking? Gu Yunlan was surprised, another prickle of pain shot through her mind. She immediately shut her eyes, enduring the bitter pain. She felt as if she was in a different space, causing the gnawing hunger to slow somewhat, but that bloodthirsty feeling was still there.
“Big sister! Everything will be alright if you stay here, you won’t be able to bite yourself. Use the technique Big Brother Xuanyuan taught you to move your spirit power to suppress the pain!” A delicate voice once again sounded.”
“You’re the little Yunlan?” Gu Yunlan turned about but still didn’t discover anyone. She sat down, enduring the pain.
“Big Sis, you can’t see me. Believe in Yunlan ok? We are one to begin with!” The tiny voice held a hint of desperate pleading.
Gu Yunlan didn’t have the time to say anything before the pain intensified. Her bloodthirst became worse and worse. Immediately she curled up and shut her eyes tightly as she guided the energy flow to her dantian.
Although the pain in the head isn’t that bad, it caused her to be unable to calm her heart. Her eyebrows creased deeply, this is bad, she can’t gather up her energy now. She can’t survive through this!
Suddenly a child’s voice sounded by her ear, “The cake-like moon, upon his home shone, then his pet rabbit, ate uo my beans, so with the stick, blamed brother-in-law!”
TLN: I can draw but poetry is out of my league.
The syrupy child’s voice lessened the pain considerably. Her long lashes fluttered; this was the nursery rhyme her grandmother taught her as a child. Grandmother had said that she came from far away. When she was bored, she loved to sing this song most. This nursery rhyme helped remind her of her homeland.
“The cake-like moon, upon…” Gu Yunlan opened her mouth and sang. Memories she’d forgotten flashed in her mind from time to time. A little girl bounced about annoying an elder…
At this time, a strand of energy within started to move by itself, revolving without guidance. The sluggish rotation then sped up. After an unknown amount of time, the hunger gnawing at her started to slowly wane, however the bloodthirst grew stronger. It stretched to the limit what she could endure, the nerves in her body were very tense.
Changes started to occur in the veranda around her too, the moon shone inside at some point. Her entire body was bathed in moonlight, the dotted starlight revolved around her body before entering her abdomen.
More and more light bubbled towards the veranda. Xuanyuan Ying released a breathe at first, but then his brows creased; he started to worry whether she can endure all this?
Some things will explode if pushed to the extreme, even bloodthirst. But other things stand up again after being broken. Should he help her or not? As Xuanyuan Ying wavered on is decision, another change occurred within the veranda.
It seemed as if the moonlight was running out. Thin strands of blood started to flow out from the edge of Gu Yunlan’s eyes, mouth, nose, and ears.
Xuanyuan Ying became even more alarmed, what now? She possesses both yin and yang! He stepped onto the edge, no, if things continue like this then her life would be forfeit. It’s better to die well than live terribly!
But then, he didn’t make a move. Not knowing when, Gu Yunlan started to sing a nursery rhyme. From the white wall they broke through a few days, a strand of white energy mixed with moonlight entered Gu Yunlan’s body.
He watched the unexpected development in astonishment. He never knew that wall had awareness, thinking of this, a thin strand entered his mind. For the first time, he, Xuanyuan Ying, felt fear.
Under this surprising development, the blood flowing from the edges of Gu Yunlan’s lips stopped. Her body curled around and spun about quickly. The moonlight and white energy rapidly entered her abdomen.
Gu Yunlan was immersed in a mysterious sensation, she vaguely felt as if she was back in her mother’s arms, warm and safe.
But soon, she left that mysterious sensation. The hunger and bloodthirst within her had already disappeared. She released a sigh of relief as she observed the current state within her body. The energy in her body had turned white. It revolved somewhat lazily, and more concentrated, as if it was liquidated.
Pressure! She suddenly thought of that one word, right! Since it turned into liquid, then she would give it a hand, pressure! Use her mind, that is consciousness to apply pressure! Thinking of this, she used all the strength in her body to directly apply pressure within.
Following her actions, progress went quickly at first but then slowed. She pressured the energy in body into her dantian under careful observation. She started to feel tired, but nio, she can’t give up now. She told herself, as long as she squeezes all the energy into her dantian, then all the suffering today will end.
She gritted her teeth, then kick started her consciousness to continue working. At the very last, all the energy in her body was finally pushed in. Her consciousness settled back into her mind as she could feel a warmth emitting from her dantian. The white energy in her dantian spun faster and faster.
“Boom!” Her head became heated, a spiral of energy left her dantian and flowed towards her eight extra meridians. She once again went from numb to feeling sour.
That stream of warmth directly rushed into her sea of consciousness. Her foreheaded heated up, causing her fall unconscious.
After a while, she could finally feel herself returned to her body. She slowly opened her eyes to find her surroundings pitch black, where is this? She wanted to sit up, but found she couldn’t move. She once again moved her arms, why can’t she move?
Gu Yunlan felt flustered, feeling as if she was a fish on the chopping board, ready to be sliced up!
