Chapter 92: Better to Not Button it Up

Gu Yunlan hooked up the corners of her mouth; went to the temple to pay respects? She turned her gaze onto Xuanyuan Ying, he met her gaze to instruct, “The temple courtyard has no water, so your family’s Young Miss hasn’t taken a bath in a few days. Didn’t I ask you to prepare some hot water? Quickly bring her there to wash clean for the New Years!”

“Yes!” Marshal Xuanyuan has spoken, Xin’er doesn’t dare not listen. She hurriedly nodded her head, and pulled her family’s Young Miss by the elbow, leading her towards the small courtyard ahead. SHe complained as they walked, “Really, Young Miss. You should’ve brought Xin’er with you to to pray for luck, or even just to take care of you!”

“Uncle Xuanyuan, don’t forget about the dish! Today!” Gu Yunlan turned her head around to wave a fist at Xuanyuan Ying while walking. Only when Xuanyuan Ying nodded his head did she turn back around in satisfactions. Hearing what Xiner said, she immediately went, “Idiot! Bring you to watch over me? That is a luxury, where’s the sincerity in that? If I did that, how would Buddha protect father then?”

Speaking of Buddha, she remembered about fasting and reading scriptures. About fasting, “Right, Xin’er, in order to express my sincerity, don’t include no-vegetarian dishes in the future, this includes pig oil!”

“But if I can’t put oil then what else is there to eat? You’d be missing some nutrition?” Xin’er bit back. Letting go of her to walk to the courtyard gates, she pushed it open. Dishes without oil don’t taste good!

“The Zi Family has a lot of dishes, didn’t some new types of oil enter the market? We should go buy some to try out, you should get a wider variety!” Gu Yunlan followed into the yard, directly going towards the Western area.

The heat permuted all over, the warm flow could be felt as soon as they stepped through the door.

“You leave then! I’ll soak here myself for a while!” Soaking in the tub, she felt the all blood vessels in her entire body opening up, both relaxing and comfortable. She lifted her head to look at the attending Xin’er to order.

“Then Young Miss call me when you’re done! I’ll be going to the kitchen to take a look to make sure they don’t mess up this year’s New Years Dinner!” Xin’er nodded her head. Seeing the Young Miss, she guessed she’d be soaking there for a long time, ”There’s hot water over here, add it to your own taste!”

“Go now! Go!” Gu Yunlan waved her hand, then closed her eyes after sending off Xin’er. She laid down in the confined space of water, this little girl is too troublesome.

Influenced by Zi Luolan, she went off by herself to rinse her mouth. However she had an unsafe feeling all along. Although this courtyard only houses her and Xuanyuan Ying, what if something goes wrong one day and he barges in while she’s bathing?

Amidst her daydream, she fell asleep in the hot water.

“Where’s your family’s young miss?” Xuanyuan Ying finished making a vegetable dish, then lifted his head just in time to see Xin’er working nearby. He asked questioningly while washing his hands.

“She was soaking in the bath just now and didn’t let me attend to her. She’s probably about done by now!” Xin’er said while busying herself cooking the food, her hands never stopped moving. In order to save money, the mansion only had two kitchen maids. There’s no other way as she could only go help out.

“Bring this dish alone to your family’s young miss a bit later. I will return first to change my clothing!” Xuanyuan Ying instructed as he pointed to the finished dish on the counters. Only after seeing Xin’er coming over to cover it up with a bowl did he leave.

Since coming out with fresh clothing, he’s been wandering around the courtyard yet still hadn’t even seen a shadow of Gu Yunlan. He looked towards her room in confusion. The door was open but there was no one inside. Where’d she go? She couldn’t have fallen asleep when bathing?

Xuanyuan Ying creased his brows. From Xin’er arriving to the kitchen till now about half an hour had passed. Was she still in the bathhouse? Thinking of this, he strode swiftly towards the west-side bathhouse.

Unintentionally, Gu Yunlan felt as if she were immersed in a warm, budding, spring illusion. She felt very warm, very comfortable, as if she were in an otherworldly peach garden. She felt very happy playing around by herself. Watching flying butterflies, picking flowers…

Suddenly a cold wind blew through, causing her to shiver from the cold. She stood up numbly, a snowscape! When did she come to a snowscape, freezing! It’s getting colder and colder…

Xuanyuan Ying stared Gu Yunlan in the water, whose eyebrows were creased and only her forehead showed above the water. His brows furrowed, as expected, this woman fell asleep in the water. He could tell the water was cold by just looking at it.

Although he watched her, he still didn’t dare look lower than the water. He only looked above the shoulders but it was enough to speed up his heartbeat. He immediately tore away his gaze, then reached out his hand to touch the basin and made a command.

A short while later, steam rose from the basin as the water heated up. Her brows relaxed, clearing she was dreaming. Hei hei, suddenly he felt a mischievous urge, he turned around and left the bathhouse…

Gu Yunlan was originally so cold that she shivered, who knew that the surroundings would change and she once again felt warm. Gu Yunlan didn’t have the time to feel happy when a black fog suddenly appeared. Yin winds blew and as Gu Yunlan didn’t stand steadily, fell to one side.

As she was about to fall to the floor, the black fog fog quickly wrapped her up and brought her into the air. Gu Yunlan panicked, what’s this thing?

She looked around in alarm. A huge skeleton slowly emerged from the black fog, appearing before in a blink of an eye. With confidence coming from who-knows-where, she struck towards that skeleton!

“Yah!” Gu Yunlan splashed around the water times before suddenly snapping open her eyes. A dream? Unexpectedly she was still bathing? Glancing at the color of the sky outside, she hurried to sit up and climb out. She quickly wiped her body dry, put on the inner layer clothing, and the middle layer.

However, the outer layer. She once again ran into a problem; it’s those annoying buttons again. Should she go back to her room to switch it ut or not? She thought for a moment, at the same time fiddling with her outer clothing as she exited the bathing house.

“Ah!” Who could’ve guessed that as soon as she stepped out the bath house, would see Xuanyuan Ying outside laying down on a reclining chair, his two eyes closed shut. Thinking of the black fog in her dream earlier, she suddenly understood. She roared, “Xuanyuan Ying! Get up right now!”

Xuanyuan Ying slowly opened one eye, and seeing her fuming in anger, could guess that she already knew. He said as if wronged, “You hit me, now we’re even!”

“What even? Who jokes around like that? Scared me to death!” Gu Yunlan looked at him angrily.

“Hai hai! An illusion!” Xuanyuan Ying sighed softly. He sat up and glanced at her for a second before looking away.

“Forget not waking me up, but you’d even scare me!” Gu Yunlan walked over and sat down next to him. He deserves a beating!

Seeing her act so stupidly, the corners of Xuanyuan Ying’s mouth twitched. No wonder this person got tricked so easily in her last life. He apologetically turned to look towards her, offered a hand to help her button up her outer clothing.

Seeing Xuanyuan Ying’s actions, Gu Yunlan’s face reddened. She grumbled in a smaller voice, “I still don’t know how to button this. Since you scared me earlier, now we’re even!”

“Let’s go now! As we stay here, I’d have to guess people seeing us would misunderstand. Of course, I wouldn’t mind!” Xuanyuan Ying buttoned the last button. When the two people appeared in the dining hall, Xuanyuan Meng sat by herself at a round table, her gaze flitting around left and right. Seeing the two enter, her gaze lit up, “Big bro! Yunlan!”

“How come you’re here so early?” Gu Yunlan pulled aside a chair, about to sit down to her right. But before she could do so, was pulled by the cold-faced Xuanyuan Ying to sit on her left side instead.

“I originally planned on going out to play before lunch, but who knew my brother would announce we’d be eating the New Years dinner for lunch instead. Nothing I can do, I could only just wait here.

She looked timidly at her big brother’s expression, no change. He isn’t angry? She immediately leaned on the table and blinked towards Gu Yunlan, “Yunlan! You two came back together this morning?”

“Meddlesome!” Xuanyuan Ying coldly glanced towards her and stood up, leaving the dining hall.

Xuanyuan Meng rubbed her nose. That precious matter didn’t provoker her big brother, but that just now did.

“Your news source is quite quick!” Gu Yunlan lightly poured a cup of water, pursing her lips.

“Yunnan! Is your body alright now? Xuanyuan Meng asked with concern.

Gu Yunlan nodded her head, and put down her cup, “Everything is fine, how come you and Zhang Yu…”

“This…” As soon as Gu Yunlan changed the subject, Xuanyuan Meng instantly knew she wasn’t willing to talk about it. She could only follow along and talk about herself. Yunlan was a bit like big brother; the things they weren’t willing to talk about, they wouldn’t talk abut no matter how much anyone begged. Otherwise, she may end up provoking her.

“Marshal! The dishes have been prepared!” Xin’er hurriedly informed, seeing everyone was already present.

“Bring them up!” Xuanyuan Ying coldly poured a cup of tea, giving her a nod.

A’Mu and Xin’er were swift, the dishes were all served shortly.

Gu Yunlan looked at the last dish being placed in front of her in satisfaction. Xuanyuan Ying worked rather fast, and listens well. But who knows how his cooking skills are?

She softly flipped her gaze to look, but was met with a delicious smell at the same time. She blanked out,

“Yunlan, what mysterious thing is this, to actually be placed just for you!” Xunyuan Meng stared curiously at the covered dish in front of Gu Yunlan.

“Cough cough!” Xuanyuan Ying lightly coughed twice, this girl is too curious. Seeing everyone’s eyes look over, he gladly ordered, “Starting eating! You two sit down too!”

“Yunlan! Open it up and see!” Xuanyuan Meng stared at the dish in front of Gu Yunlan mischievously.

“What’s so curious about this? My body isn’t feeling too well, so it’s better for me to eat vegetarian.” Gu Yunlan flipped over the lid helplessly.

Xuanyuan Meng leaned over for a look, and was shocked. She immediately laughed loudly out loud.
