Chapter 30: So Much for the Tour

The drive to school the next morning was pretty normal.

Chloe had spent most of breakfast talking about picking me up later, apparently already planning what she wanted to see around campus. I mostly listened, answering whenever she actually asked me something.

Nicole still hadn't texted this morning, apart from the goodnight message she'd sent me around 1:42 AM.

Considering how late she usually went to bed, I figured she probably just woke up late and had to rush through her morning. Maybe she didn't have time to text me.

It wasn't a big deal. I was probably just overthinking it.

I pulled into the parking lot, parked, and grabbed my bag. My phone buzzed just as I stepped out of the car.

I looked at the screen.

Nicole: Good morning 🌞

I smiled and typed back: Morning. How was your night?

Her reply came a few seconds later.

Nicole: It wasn't so great.

I blinked at the screen.
