Chapter 39: Too Much Trouble for a Widow
Chapter 39: Too Much Trouble for a Widow
Wei Ziqing’s gaze grew deep as he recalled various scenes from the past.
Years ago, he had gone drinking with a group of friends and eventually lost consciousness. When he woke up, he found himself in the bed of a local gang boss’s mistress.
Setting aside the obvious irregularities of the situation, what was even stranger was that the boss actually held him captive, demanding that his parents personally deliver money to him!
It was because of this that his parents met their end in a car accident!
Although he was later rescued and the boss was thrown into prison, Wei Ziqing knew that there was definitely something wrong with the whole ordeal!
Otherwise, how could his parents’ car accident have been such a coincidence?
And why would that boss have been so foolish? Foolish enough to kidnap him and extort his parents?
Later, he was kicked out of his family because of this incident. He ended up in Magic City and was unable to return to Kyoto.
Thinking of this, Wei Ziqing’s hand clenched tightly and then slowly relaxed.
Back then, although he knew something was wrong, he had no power from his family and was completely unable to investigate the truth.
But now…
He had the Anywhere Door. As long as he continuously increased his strength, he would definitely be able to uncover the hidden secrets!
“But for now, my strength is not enough!” Wei Ziqing murmured, a determined look shining in his eyes.
“Although I have already reached the Postnatal Realm, I cannot act recklessly in this modern era of firearms. Therefore, I can only… endure!”
…
Peaceful days always made one relax.
For the past month, Wei Ziqing had been as inconspicuous as any ordinary person.
Working, getting off work, and going home. In the blink of an eye, the day the Anywhere Door would open arrived.
On this day, Wei Ziqing ran home as soon as he finished work. Although there was still time, he needed to prepare. No one knew which world he would visit this time!
Success was reserved for those who were fully prepared!
The first time he traveled was to the Divine Condor World. Although it was a world of martial arts, it was relatively free of danger. But what about this time?
Who could say for sure?
When the elevator doors opened, Wei Ziqing frowned. He saw a dense crowd of people standing in front of his rented room. He recognized most of them; they were basically the residents of this floor.
Not only that, Wei Ziqing could faintly hear some arguing going on, which caused the crowd to point and whisper.
“What happened?” Wei Ziqing was confused, but he didn’t care much. He lowered his head and walked toward his room. But at that moment, he suddenly heard a familiar angry scream.
Looking up toward the sound, he saw that the person was his neighbor, the widow Su Lingya.
However, she was not in a good state. She was being blocked at her door by three or four thuggish men. One of them was grabbing her hand, his face full of anger.
“What are you doing? I’m telling you, if you keep this up, I will call the police!” Su Lingya’s face was pale; she was clearly terrified of these men.
“What am I doing? You ask what I’m doing? You bitch, where is the money?” A tall and sturdy man gripped Su Lingya’s hand angrily. He spat on the ground and said viciously, “I’m telling you, if you can’t produce the money today, don’t expect me to leave!”
“Money! I already gave you this month’s money, and the time for next month hasn’t come yet. How can you…” Su Lingya’s eyes were red, and the man’s grip made her wrist ache.
“No money, huh? Fine. If there’s no money, I’ll just take you back with me today. I want to see you…” The man’s face looked distorted. Ignoring Su Lingya’s struggles, he tried to drag her away.
Seeing the man trying to force her, Su Lingya immediately looked toward the crowd of onlookers for help. However, they all stayed still and looked at her with avoiding eyes.
Too much trouble for a widow!
Su Lingya was a widow, and she had somehow offended these people. Moreover, from their words, they seemed quite familiar, and it was about money. More importantly, these people did not look easy to deal with!
The onlookers would not invite trouble upon themselves for no reason!
Just as Su Lingya felt hopeless, a flat voice suddenly rang out.
“Regardless of the situation, grabbing someone like this, especially a woman, probably isn’t right, is it?”
Su Lingya, whose face had been full of despair, suddenly showed a look of excitement and looked toward the voice.
From within the crowd, a firm figure slowly walked toward her. When she saw who it was, she was stunned.
Who else could it be but Wei Ziqing?
Su Lingya could never have imagined that the person who stood up for her would be this quiet and silent man whom she rarely saw.
However, looking at the four men, worry appeared on her face: “I… I’m fine. You don’t have to worry about me. Please leave quickly!”
There were four of them; how could he possibly save her alone? Su Lingya wanted to quickly warn Wei Ziqing to stay out of it.
But Wei Ziqing acted as if he hadn’t heard her. He continued to walk forward calmly until he stood in front of the men.
“Kid, who are you? Do you know who I am?” The man grabbing Su Lingya clearly didn’t expect someone to actually step forward. He let go of Su Lingya’s hand and looked at Wei Ziqing with a mocking sneer.
Wei Ziqing frowned. He hadn’t wanted to step in because he didn’t know exactly what had happened. But seeing that they were actually trying to kidnap someone, he couldn’t just stand there.
Now that he saw them, he knew he was right to intervene. These people were clearly not good people!
“I don’t know who you are, and I don’t want to know. You are blocking my way. You can get lost now!”
Wei Ziqing had no interest in wasting words on a bad person. He didn’t want to cause trouble; he just wanted Su Lingya to be safe. As for the rest, he didn’t want to care.
“Telling me to get lost?” The man looked as if he had heard a funny joke. He paused and then burst into laughter, his voice becoming cold: “Not counting other places, just in this Talin District, everyone calls me Brother Yang respectfully. You kid actually dare to tell me to get lost? Fine, get lost, right!”
As he spoke, the man called Brother Yang became extremely vicious. He suddenly threw a punch toward Wei Ziqing’s face: “This is for telling me to get lost!”
“Ah!”
“Oh no, watch out!”
No one expected Brother Yang to attack so suddenly. Everyone’s expression changed, and Su Lingya let out a scream.
Brother Yang was tall and sturdy, while Wei Ziqing, although decent, looked weak in comparison. The punch was aimed straight for the face. No one could imagine what would happen to Wei Ziqing if he were hit!
A vicious smile appeared on Brother Yang’s lips. This foolish kid wanted to play the hero? He didn’t even check if he had the strength!
He could already see the scene of this kid’s nose exploding with blood and him falling unconscious before his eyes!
However, what happened next stunned everyone!
Wei Ziqing stood perfectly still. Conversely, Brother Yang’s feet actually left the ground, and his face turned bright red, clearly because he couldn’t breathe!
What did they see? Wei Ziqing was actually clutching Brother Yang by the neck, lifting him high into the air!
How was this possible! At this moment, everyone’s mind went blank. They stood there with their mouths wide open, faces full of disbelief.
Was… this a ghost?
