Chapter 77: Awakening, Conversation!
Chapter 77: Awakening, Conversation!
Wei Ziqing opened his eyes and found himself lying in a bed.
What he saw was a room filled with a strong sci-fi atmosphere. He paused for a moment, recalling his final battle with Stane.
He vaguely remembered falling from a great height, yet now he had appeared here.
“Was I saved?” he murmured softly. Without thinking, he knew exactly who had saved him.
Who else could it be besides Tony?
“It seems I have been unconscious for a month. This place is probably Tony’s home!”
Since he was awake, Wei Ziqing climbed out of bed, but as he moved, he suddenly froze.
It wasn’t that something was wrong, but he suddenly discovered that he seemed to have changed.
Although the difference was small, his entire body, and even his mind, did not feel stiff after a month of deep sleep; on the contrary, he felt a sense of agility.
He slightly circulated the Inner Energy of the Innate Skill. The slight awkwardness he had felt before was gone, replaced by a smooth flow. Although he had not broken through to the Xiantian realm, he felt it had become more refined.
Not only that, but his muscles, which had already become tight and power ful from martial arts training, seemed to have strengthened further, and his physical strength had increased slightly.
“Is this because of the power change from using the Fallen Demon Ring? And this mental agility… is it because my Spiritual Power has increased a bit?”
A smile appeared on the corner of Wei Ziqing’s mouth. Although he had been quite reckless at the end, he had gained something, so it wasn’t a loss.
Click…
Potts entered to check on Wei Ziqing’s condition, as she did every day. He had been unconscious for a whole month. If J.A.R.V.I.S. had not said he was fine and just in a deep sleep, they would not have brought him home.
After all, what kind of ordinary person sleeps for a whole month?
But was he an ordinary person?
Thinking of this, Potts smiled. However, when she opened the door, she paused, and then her face lit up with joy: “Mr. Wei, you are finally awake!”
“It’s Miss Potts!” Hearing this, Wei Ziqing turned to look at her and smiled: “I’ve troubled you all this past month. Please don’t call me Mr. Wei, you can call me Ziqing.”
“Ah…” Potts paused, then nodded: “Alright then. By the way, how is your physical condition? Since you’re awake, I will tell J.A.R.V.I.S. to give you a full check-up. After all, you suffered some serious injuries back then!”
Although he had been checked during his coma, it wasn’t a comprehensive exam. Now that he was awake, it was the perfect time.
However, Wei Ziqing shook his head and declined. He knew his own condition best, but he didn’t know much about what happened at the end, so he took the opportunity to ask Potts.
Through this conversation, Wei Ziqing finally learned what happened after he lost consciousness.
When he was unconscious, he was indeed saved by Tony, and the people from S.H.I.E.L.D. had left. After all, the way Wei Ziqing dealt with Stane was a service to Tony, S.H.I.E.L.D., the United States, and even the whole world, so they didn’t try to take him away.
However, the battle that night was seen by many people, and Iron Man’s identity became widely known. But regarding Iron Man, more people wanted to know who that Huaxia man was—the one who killed the Iron Monger that night.
Yet, perhaps because Wei Ziqing was not an American, S.H.I.E.L.D. used all their means to suppress the information.
Although Tony knew that Stane was killed by Wei Ziqing, because Wei Ziqing was unconscious, he didn’t know if Wei Ziqing wanted the matter to be public or kept secret, so he remained silent.
Hearing this, Wei Ziqing breathed a sigh of relief. Things had developed toward the desired conclusion. As for the concealment of his identity, this was exactly how he liked it.
After all, in this world, there were definitely many people stronger than him. If others knew about him, his next two years would definitely be filled with trouble.
And he was not a person who liked trouble!
“Is he here?” After a short silence, Wei Ziqing looked at Potts and asked.
Although she didn’t know exactly what had happened between the two of them, Potts knew that some things needed to be handled by them personally. She nodded and said: “Yes, he is in the underground laboratory. Will you go by yourself?”
Wei Ziqing nodded. Having been to the lab a few times, he arrived there with ease. As soon as he entered, he saw Tony facing several light screens, constantly modifying something. The dense lines of programs on the screens were clearly parts of the Iron Man Armor.
If he guessed correctly, Tony was probably developing the Mark IV.
Tony also saw Wei Ziqing enter. He paused for a moment, cleared the programs, and looked up at him with a complex expression.
“You’re awake…”
“Yes.” Wei Ziqing nodded. Tony was the first person he had considered a friend since traveling through three different worlds. Yet, even with such a friend, he had still plotted against him.
Even though he had saved Tony twice in return, he still felt guilty in his heart.
“If you want to thank me for saving you, there’s no need. Without you, Potts wouldn’t have survived, so saving you was only right!”
Although he had already forgiven Wei Ziqing, Tony’s pride prevented him from being completely open.
Wei Ziqing remained silent for a moment, then said to Tony: “I am leaving.”
“Leaving?” Hearing this, Tony’s expression finally changed. He sensed a subtle meaning behind those words.
“Yes. I came back with you originally for the Intelligent System. Now that my goal has been achieved, it is time to go!”
Return to reality? No. To return, he still needed two more years. Since he had finally come to the world of Iron Man, Wei Ziqing was unwilling to just stay quiet; he wanted to temper himself during these two years.
After all, his strength was too weak!
Although Wei Ziqing spoke very directly and once again mentioned that he had plotted against Tony, Tony was not angry this time. Instead, he became somewhat flustered.
His friend was leaving?
Tony really wanted to tell him to stay, but the words that came out of his mouth were awkward: “If you want to leave, then leave. Why tell me!”
Wei Ziqing gave a bitter smile. He had seen the hint of panic in Tony’s eyes, and he felt relieved, knowing that Tony had truly forgiven him.
But this personality…
Well, what else could he say?
He nodded and turned to leave. Just as he was about to walk out of the laboratory, he paused and said softly: “I’m sorry!”
Looking at the departing Wei Ziqing, Tony stared at his back in a daze. He knew what Wei Ziqing’s apology meant.
He understood Wei Ziqing. He was like himself; although it wasn’t obvious, he was also a proud person. It was very hard to get him to say sorry, but now, he had said it…
Tony wanted to shout that he forgave him, but he didn’t. Instead, he continued upgrading his Iron Man Armor.
However, it was obvious that he was no longer focused. He made mistakes everywhere, and even when J.A.R.V.I.S. reminded him, he didn’t hear it…
