The Story So Far
The Story So Far
SOME TIME AGO, an ordinary high schooler by the name of Oda Akira found himself summoned (along with his classmates) against his will into the Kingdom of Retice, a nation in a world completely separate from his own. Here, he was granted the class of Assassin—yet he was even stronger than his classmate who had been dubbed the Hero. Not one who liked standing out, Akira quickly hid himself in the background, and with a lot of help from Knight Commander Saran, Akira began to develop the strength he’d need to get by in this dangerous world. However, not long after discovering that he and his classmates were being used in a diabolical plot by the king of Retice, Akira was framed for Commander Saran’s murder. Having no choice but to flee the country, Akira hid within a great labyrinth nearby. It was in the depths of this labyrinth that he saved an elven princess named Amelia from the belly of a pitch-black slime, and she became his loyal companion. Then, after defeating the feline boss monster, Night, on the lowest floor, Akira made a pact with the beast and Night became his familiar.
After Night revealed that the Demon Lord awaits him in his castle, Akira set forth on a journey with his new companions—first to the elven domain, then to the land of the beastfolk. On the elven continent, he helped Amelia reconcile with her younger sister, Kilika, and in the port town of Ur on the beastfolk continent, he and his companions helped stave off a surprise attack by demons. Not long after that, in the town of Mali in the beastfolk nation of Uruk, Akira was tasked with the assassination of the Uruk guildmaster—a man named Gram, who was using the annual beauty pageant as a front to commit horrific crimes. Initially quite conflicted about this job, Akira eventually found the resolve he needed to carry out the hit after learning Gram was the true puppet master behind Commander Saran’s death.
Our story picks up just after said assassination has been successfully carried out—but Akira still has mixed feelings, for this was the first time he’s ever had to kill another sentient being…
