THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH for picking up this fourth volume in the Assassin series. I know it’s been quite a while between the publication of the third volume and now, and I have to admit that even I didn’t think a fourth one was going to happen for a while, so I’m very pleased to be writing this right now to say the least. And of course, I’m already hard at work penning a fifth volume as we speak!

Incidentally, I’ve been spending a lot of time these days looking at travel brochures and websites, longing for a chance to get away from it all in our current day and age. Places like the star-shaped fort in Hakodate, Nagoya and Ise, Katsurahama and Izumo… I know it seems hard to imagine there ever being an end to COVID-19 right now, but I’ve been planning out all sorts of trips to places I’d like to visit as soon as we can get back to a place where traveling freely around the country feels safe and secure. Honestly, just looking through the brochures and planning out hypothetical itineraries is a fun pastime in itself—I’d highly recommend it, if you’re ever feeling bored!

Once again, I’d like to thank Tozai for all the wonderful illustrations that adorn the pages of this volume, my managing editor, my proofreader, and last but not least, Hiroyuki Aigamo, who’s done such a great job adapting my story into manga format. I hope you’ll all look forward to what the future holds for the Assassin franchise.
