Chapter 38: Wild Rush!

The Couple Wristband's effect was better than Yan Jing expected; once it was on, it wasn't coming off.

The Amusement Park must have gone to great lengths to ensure it wouldn't fail.

Soon, Tiger led them over to six massive trucks.

Yan Jing only realized how enormous they were once they got close.

Compared to the heavy transport trucks he often saw on the road in his past life, these were at least two sizes larger. Lined up, they formed an impenetrable wall of steel that blotted out the sun.

"Sir, you only realize how safe these trucks feel when you get close, right?"

Tiger placed a hand on the boarding ladder and gave it a solid pat.

"A beast this big will absolutely wrap you and the young lady up tight. Even if it rolls, neither of you will suffer a single scratch."

Yan Jing nodded.

"I have one last question."

"What if I don't know how to drive a truck?"

Tiger laughed.

"You don't need to worry about that, sir. These aren't actual trucks."

"As you know, it's incredibly difficult to own a vehicle in this Domain. These are all amusement rides personally modified by our boss. You'll understand once you get in; the controls are very simple. The vehicle doesn't even need gas or electricity."

"By the way, which truck would you like? Since you cut the line at the last minute, only Truck Five and Truck Six are left."

Yan Jing looked at the two trucks on the far right. He pondered for a moment and said, "Can I look at both?"

"Of course."

Tiger readily agreed.

Either truck would do; he had tampered with both of them.

As long as those two got in, they would be skinned alive even if they survived.

He smiled as he watched Yan Jing inspect both trucks one by one, watched him lower his head and whisper something into Mantou's ear, and then watched him buckle his seatbelt.

And lastly, he watched Yan Jing lean over and buckle a seatbelt for him.

"Thank you."

He thanked Yan Jing, and then suddenly realized something. The smile on his face instantly froze.

When did this happen?!

His heart plummeted. He looked around in a panic; he had no idea when he had been seated in the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, Yan Jing was adjusting the rearview mirror from the driver's seat.

Seeing Tiger looking at him, Yan Jing offered a faint smile.

"Sit tight, Mr. Tiger. This is my first time driving a truck, so it might be a bit bumpy."

"No... no, no, no... wait a minute... I need to get out... I need to get out!!!"

He unbuckled his seatbelt, shoved the door open, and leaped out. But a second later, an aura of fear crept up his spine and spread through his entire body. His eyes widened in terror, and he forcefully pulled back the foot that had already stepped out of the cabin.

Under the crushing weight of this power, his whole body shook like a leaf as he buckled his seatbelt once again.

It's over.

That was the only thought echoing in his mind.

It was the Couple Wristband. This man had somehow slipped the Couple Wristband onto him without him noticing.

The Couple Wristband restricted its wearers, forcing them to participate in the project together. Unless one party completed the task, neither could leave alone.

"Get ready to start! Get ready to start!!"

Yan Jing looked at Zebra, who was already waiting at the edge of the track with the starting pistol, and reached out a hand to wave.

Zebra looked at Yan Jing and the Tiger beside him, his expression completely unchanged.

It seemed he was already used to this.

"Your colleague doesn't seem surprised."

Yan Jing chuckled at Tiger, acting like an old friend of many years.

"Don't step on the gas! Don't step on the gas!"

Tiger looked at Yan Jing as if waking from a nightmare, clasping his hands together in a frantic plea.

"This truck's speed limit has been removed! Whatever you do, don't step on the gas!!!"

"But if I don't step on the gas, how can we get first place, Mr. Tiger?"

Yan Jing kept a smile on his face.

Tiger wanted to say something else, but Zebra pulled the trigger. In the next fraction of a second, an intense force pinned them back into their seats!

His panic peaked at that very moment. Gripping the handle tight, he looked in disbelief at the man beside him with a camera for a head.

What on earth happened in such a short amount of time?!

Just ten minutes ago, this man was completely polite and refined, but now he's acting like a suicidal lunatic!!!

But in the next second, he checked the rearview mirror and saw several trucks colliding and swerving to the right. He snapped out of his daze, cold sweat breaking out on his back.

It's a pincer attack.

If this man hadn't stepped on the gas just now, they would have absolutely been crushed to a pulp by the trucks behind them.

Those humans had set their sights on this inner world resident's truck, intending to use swarm tactics to pin it to the far right and use it as a brake.

Thank goodness. Thank goodness this man had accelerated.

Having finally snapped to his senses, he wiped the sweat from his forehead, tightened his grip on the handle, and hurriedly spoke up:

"In about two hundred meters, three deceleration nets will drop down in random positions. Crashing into them will slow us down."

"Right after that is the next turn. There's a specially made muddy buffer zone on the right. Steer the truck onto it, and don't give it any gas! Whatever you do, don't give it gas!"

Even as he gave the instructions, his heart remained in his throat.

This was delicate work. If he wasn't sharp-eyed and quick-handed, it was highly likely the truck would be destroyed, killing them both.

"Okay."

Yan Jing responded with a single, short word.

Grasping the steering wheel, Yan Jing smiled at the road ahead. He could clearly feel the power within his body growing, thread by thread.

Sure enough, instilling terror in others was another method of advancement on the Path of Fear.

The roar of the engine died down, and the wind outside made a muffled sound against the glass. The speedometer on the dashboard read 45 miles per hour, which meant that if they maintained this speed, they would reach the finish line in about eight minutes.

But this was only an ideal scenario.

Because it was a slight downhill slope, their speed would continue to increase.

"What happens if we still haven't stopped when we reach the finish line?"

Yan Jing asked.

"The finish line is a massive buffer wall."

Tiger said in despair, "We have to be as slow as possible, at least under 15 miles per hour. If we crash into it at this speed, we'll absolutely be crippled even if we don't die."

"It's a bit difficult, but it should be fine."

Yan Jing nodded. He flipped his right hand, and a blood-red apple crawling with worms appeared in his palm. He then tossed it straight into his mouth.

As the juice flowed down his throat, Tiger beside him suddenly shuddered.

He turned his head in horror and saw waves of black mist bursting forth from all around Yan Jing.

The ink-like mist gushed out from the gaps in the lens, shutter, and camera body. It circled him like black flames, burning the surrounding air.

Two gleams of scarlet lit up beside the lens, and the temperature inside the cabin plummeted. Enveloped in the black flames, Yan Jing seemed to transform into a genuine monster as his degree of mutation skyrocketed.

Fear unconsciously leaked into Tiger's eyes.

The power this man was displaying right now did not seem like First Tier strength at all.

He could feel his own arms trembling involuntarily, and the heart in his chest was pounding madly.

This meant he was afraid.

This fear was completely different from the fear that made him want to jump out of the truck moments ago; it was a subconscious reaction to facing a higher-tier power of the same Pathway.

This man also walked the Path of Fear, and his level of power was far higher than his own.

"Hold on tight!!!"

Surrounded by the black flames, Yan Jing's smile turned hideous and exaggerated.

Then, Tiger felt the entire truck jerk to the left in an instant, the momentum throwing him violently against the door.
