Chapter 477: A Great War is Coming (Two in One)
Chapter 477: A Great War is Coming (Two in One)
Watching the man's rapidly plummeting figure, Yan Jing flipped over, preparing to leap from the white jade terrace as well.
Right at that moment, a soft white light rose from the white jade bricks beneath his feet and sank into his brow.
"Ten Thousand Mountains Incantation."
This was another method from a distant era, capable of enhancing one's physical strength all the way to a Celestial Immortal.
But now, it was impossible to cultivate.
Yan Jing had no time to worry about that; he chased after the man.
Plummeting past the nine-hundredth step, he brushed shoulders with Bai Ya.
"See you next time, Mr. Bai."
Bai Ya raised his eyes to glance at him, then slowly nodded.
His expression was much more solemn now.
He could tell the man he had just exchanged punches with was far from simple, yet that same man was now fleeing from Yan Jing. That alone proved how terrifying Yan Jing was. Even without witnessing their battle, Bai Ya knew he couldn't underestimate him.
Seeing Yan Jing plunging after him, the scalp of the man in white silk went numb. An indescribable aura erupted from his body, and his speed sharply increased. Twisting and shifting in midair, he moved faster than the wind trailing in his wake. Like a phantom, he plummeted toward the ground.
Yan Jing smiled faintly. Slapping a hand forcefully against the adjacent white jade terrace, he pushed himself out of the area enveloped by the stairs' light. Then, layering Peerless with blink, his figure appeared hundreds of meters below in the blink of an eye.
The man's pupils shrank in terror.
He had assumed Yan Jing only excelled in physical strength; he never expected him to possess spatial methods too.
"What exactly is this guy's background..."
He bit down hard on the tip of his tongue. A surge of scalding lifeblood flowed out and sank into his brow. In the very next instant, his speed soared again.
But Yan Jing clearly had no intention of letting him go. His own weird energy surged, stringing together a continuous series of blinks.
Their speed almost surpassed the limits of sight, appearing in multiple locations within a split second. Anyone witnessing this would only catch their afterimages, and observers from different angles would capture entirely different poses.
In reality, the two had already landed and dashed tens of thousands of meters across the wilderness.
"Fuck! Don't push it too far!!!"
Seeing Yan Jing in relentless pursuit, the man roared.
Yan Jing did not speak. He answered the man with thousands of pitch-black Thorn Spears.
Looking at the overwhelming swarm of spears blotting out the sky, the man was so frightened his skull trembled.
Their speed was simply too fast; in just the time it took to turn his head, he had already lost any chance to dodge.
"Fuck your mother!!!"
The man gritted his teeth viciously. He whipped around, threw out both fists, and unleashed a dazzling flurry of fist shadows that collided with the incoming spears.
Tens of thousands of fragments exploded into a storm. The man turned back and continued his mad sprint.
"Ah! It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!!!"
Tears streamed down his face. He was nowhere near as relaxed as he appeared.
The spikes had only sunk half an inch beneath his skin, yet the pain was enough to make his very soul shudder.
As he rounded a corner, a trace of joy flashed through his eyes. Grabbing his own head with both hands, he wrenched it apart with immense force.
Instantly, his entire body split in two. One half consisted of bone and flesh, while the other retained his intact organs. Both halves rapidly regenerated into his original appearance. Driven by his intent, one clone dashed madly into the distance.
Meanwhile, his true body held its breath, shifted its footing, and prepared to slip away in another direction.
But right at that moment, a sound reached his ears.
"Iya iya~"
What is that?
He looked up warily and saw a small winged doll hovering right above his head. Its little hands were waving, clearly signaling his location to Yan Jing behind him.
Your mother!
He was furious. It was bad enough that this doll was reporting his position, but its expression was infuriatingly smug. One look was enough to tell it was a natural-born spy!
He reached out, trying to grab the doll to shut it up.
Unexpectedly, his hand grabbed nothing but thin air.
"Iya iya~~"
Xiao Xin made a face and stuck out its tongue.
"You!!!"
Unable to bother with the little thing any longer, he broke into a sprint to get away.
But before he could even move, a melodious zither tune reached his ears.
Amidst the notes, the entire world gradually bled into gray.
It's over...
That final thought flashed through his mind before he fell into complete stillness.
Yan Jing walked up from behind, knocked him out with a single punch, swiftly chopped off his hands and feet, and dragged him into the Space Rift.
Inside the rift, Bing Yao's eyes widened as she watched Yan Jing drag the man in.
The Holy Son of the Slumber Clan had his hands and feet chopped off!
This was a man who had dominated more than half the Domain back in the day. How could he end up so miserable!
She looked toward the culprit, only to meet a pair of icy eyes.
"Didn't you want to see if we could catch the others?"
Yan Jing's words were even colder than his gaze. Trapped within the Ten-Thousand-Year Solid Ice, Bing Yao swallowed hard.
Then, demonstrating a keen understanding of the situation, she forced a smile. Even knowing Yan Jing couldn't see the finer details, she was incredibly sycophantic:
"That earlier remark was just a joke... a joke..."
She felt like she was sweating, even though the Ice Clan obviously couldn't sweat.
The radiance surrounding Yan Jing's body right now was far more intense than before, making her eyelids twitch.
His physical body was achieving Celestial Immortal status.
Wasn't this only possible in that distant era...
She swallowed hard again.
Yan Jing stepped forward and patted the man's face. After watching him regain consciousness, he spoke faintly:
"Are you awake?"
"Where is this..." The man looked around the pitch-black space and suddenly caught a glimpse of that block of Ten-Thousand-Year Solid Ice:
"Bing Yao!! How did you..."
Soon, figuring it out, he flew into a rage:
"Fuck! Was it you who sold out my position?! You bitch!"
"Do you think I wanted to?!" Cursed as a bitch, Bing Yao also grew angry and shot back:
"I only lured him your way because I thought you could handle it! Who would've expected a piece of trash like you to be so useless."
"Your mother..." The man choked with anger and blurted out:
"Didn't you know to send him to Fang Xun first?!"
Unexpectedly, the moment those words left his mouth, Bing Yao's fierce expression froze. Then, she said slowly, "Fang Xun couldn't hold on. He's dead."
She pointed at the pile of bones off to the side.
Fang Xun was the person who had died earlier at Wanyao Cliff.
Hearing this, the man was taken aback. He looked at the pile of white bones.
Upon seeing the signature green leaf mark, he fell into a long silence.
Finally, he slowly let out a sigh:
"Fuck, I said back then that we shouldn't have come in here!!!"
As if accepting his fate, he leaned back, lay flat on the ground, and looked at Yan Jing:
"What do you want to know? Ask away."
"Or, if you're going to kill me, just be quick about it and give me a swift end."
Yan Jing's face remained impassive:
"What is the secret of this God Storage Land?"
"Secret?" The man blinked in confusion and looked at Bing Yao:
"You didn't tell him?"
Bing Yao said helplessly, "We found this resting place of a former Deity, wanting to endure past the interrupted chronology. Of course I told him."
"Then what else is there..." The man looked at Yan Jing in confusion; it seemed he only knew this much as well.
"Have you seen this before?"
Yan Jing tossed a map in front of the man.
It was the fake map they had received earlier. He had asked Bing Yao about it, but she had never seen it.
But when the man saw the map, his expression visibly shifted.
A few minutes later, he slowly spoke up:
"I've seen this before."
"But I have a condition."
"Say it," Yan Jing said.
"I want to live." The man was straightforward:
"And I don't want to live as a cripple."
"Fine." Yan Jing's response left the man somewhat surprised.
It was far too decisive.
"Once this matter is over, you can follow my friend out to the outside world."
Yan Jing stated.
"To the Surface World?"
The man paused in surprise, then decisively shook his head:
"No way, I'm completely unfamiliar with that place. We of the Slumber Clan are born just to get a peaceful sleep. If you can't accept that, just kill me." Yan Jing didn't say a word; he simply stepped forward and beat the man up.
A few minutes later, the man mumbled, "I'll neber shurrender..."
So Yan Jing stepped forward and beat him up again.
"I don't yielb..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was beaten up yet again.
The man yielded.
He explained the origins of the map.
Only after Yan Jing left did Bing Yao finally speak up:
"Actually, he was talking about taking us to the Inner World."
"Innerg Worlb?" The man was startled.
"Yeah, he knows someone in the Inner World, who is also... a very formidable guy..." Thinking of Wen Xu's monstrously high success rate in alchemy, Bing Yao didn't know what else to say.
She fancied herself a once-in-a-century genius, but in front of Wen Xu and Yan Jing, her pride had been completely shattered.
"Then why dibn't you zay zo earlier!" The man's words leaked air.
Bing Yao sneered. "Who asked you to call me a bitch?"
"Bitsh! You bitsh!"
"Let's go. Time to set out again."
Yan Jing found Qi Ming and the others, who had already thoroughly looted the man in the tailcoat and his group.
"Boss, what about them?"
Wang Gang poked Dong Yu's face.
Dong Yu burned with fury:
"Even if I die, I won't allow you to trample on my digni—"
"They're of no use. Throw them away."
Yan Jing's words were like a basin of cold water poured over Dong Yu's heart.
"Oh."
Wang Gang nodded, hoisted Dong Yu up, and tossed him hundreds of meters away.
Then, grabbing one in each hand, she hurled them all away like shot puts.
"Then Captain, where do we go now?"
Zhao Dongchuan asked.
Yan Jing reached out and pointed forward:
"We go there."
Over there was a gorge.
"Behave yourself!"
In the hills beside the Magma Wilderness, the young girl from Tianzi clutched her Dragon Doll and viciously stomped her foot onto the man before her.
This man had just appeared in front of them, claiming to be an entity from the interrupted chronology and threatening to bleed and skin them alive, but unexpectedly, their boss directly crippled him.
"Speak!! What are your origins, and what is the secret of this place?!"
The young girl's eyes flickered.
Deep within the forest between Thunder Valley and the Sand Domain.
Wan Yicheng stared coldly at the girl in green they had just caught:
"Speak, what is the secret here?"
The girl in green looked as ferocious as a small beast, baring her sharp canines menacingly:
"...&(%)."
The eras separating them were simply far too distant, making it entirely impossible to understand each other's language.
Even so, Wan Yicheng showed no intention of giving up. He stood up and said, "Xiao Feng, teach her our language."
"Nianshuang, if she resists, torture her to the brink of death, then heal her back up."
In a flash, another five days passed.
Yan Jing's group had crossed through another three regions.
One was a gorge filled with all kinds of human silhouettes; they had to fight their way through to advance.
One was a rootless bridge that required them to make their bodies as light as nothingness to cross safely, otherwise they would plummet into the abyss.
One was a lake they had to wade through, but its waters inflicted extreme agony, like tens of thousands of needles stabbing into the mind. The number of captives traveling with them had also increased from two to four.
"Trash!" "Trash!" "Trash!"
Bing Yao cursed the three people crouching outside the ice block playing Fight the Landlord, pointing them out one by one.
The three completely ignored her.
After all, she couldn't get out anyway.
As for why there were three of them, it was naturally because two more people had been caught by Yan Jing.
The three had already accepted their fate.
Since they couldn't win a fight anyway, whoever thought they could win was welcome to try it themselves.
"That guy is only missing the final step."
A woman with long raven hair spoke up:
"Right now, his whole body is shining like a lightbulb. Achieving a Celestial Immortal physical body is simply terrifying."
She was the last to enter the Space Rift, and also the last person to have seen Yan Jing.
When she saw Yan Jing, she could only feel that every single fiber of his muscles was packed with explosive power, crystal clear and translucent. Even his hair was glowing, as if an Exiled Immortal had descended to the mortal realm.
"But I feel like those three freaks still might have a chance against him."
Beside her, a Fat Man spoke:
"However, it's merely a possibility."
This guy was terrifying to such an extent that he felt even the monsters of their era wouldn't be guaranteed a win.
Yet, right after he finished speaking, the man in white silk said, "Actually, I think he isn't the only strong one."
"I ran into a man earlier with an earring, and he was very strong too."
"Perhaps this era is just very strong. Although I haven't asked them for specific details, I think this might be the great era we predicted back then."
"We might have... actually lived to see it."
"What's the use of living to see it?" Inside the ice block, Bing Yao sighed:
"The gap between us and them is too vast."
"That's why I absolutely need that man to take us out." The man in white silk stood up, his face brimming with ambition:
"As long as we can get out and make contact with this era, perhaps we can step into the Celestial Immortal Realm, and then we'd still have hope of becoming the number one person." "You're talking about becoming the number one person while this guy exists?" The long-haired woman beside him poured a basin of cold water on his dreams.
The man opened his mouth, and finally sighed:
"Actually, being number two isn't bad either."
The summit of a volcano.
A beautiful silhouette wreathed in flames looked at the two people who had appeared before her, and spoke:
"You've finally arrived."
"The other side is pushing us too far."
A figure said.
"Let's teach them a lesson."
The final figure did not speak. His long hair was dusted with a bit of gravel, drifting in the wind.
