Chapter 557: Eerie Capital (Two-in-One)

"Apologies for the delayed welcome, you two."

Yan Jing had been waiting for this. Wearing Wen Xu's identity, he stepped out of the cabin and approached the man and woman with a smile. "May I ask who you two might be—"

"Gods' Association."

The man replied flatly.

He looked young, dressed in a pale silver-gray shirt with faint gold patterns on the cuffs, the stitching so fine it was nearly invisible. Silver hair cascaded to his shoulders, every strand shimmering with a crystalline glow under the taint of Chaos's aura.

His silver eyes were especially striking. Every line in his irises exuded a noble aura, like a pair of rare gemstones.

The woman beside him carried an equally extraordinary air. Though she wore a simple T-shirt and jeans, the slight upward tilt of her chin made her attitude toward Yan Jing perfectly clear. She carried the natural poise of a superior, her gaze appraising the Cat Ship in front of her.

With her snow-white neck and full forehead, she looked like a white swan.

"Are you the person in charge here?"

The woman looked at Yan Jing.

"I am. My surname is Wen, Wen Xu."

Yan Jing smiled.

"Don't answer questions you weren't asked."

The man spoke coldly.

A piece of paper materialized in his hand and drifted down into Yan Jing's palm.

"You have ten minutes to compile the information of every entity here at Summit or above."

Yan Jing looked at the paper in his hand, which was less than half the size of an A4 sheet, and smiled. "You two, this paper doesn't seem large enough."

"Just name, Tier, age, and specialty." The man's expression was freezing. "Who asked you to write extra nonsense?"

"We have nearly a hundred at the Summit alone."

Yan Jing smiled.

Both the man and the woman blanked for a moment.

Soon after, the woman knitted her brows. "Are you people from the Great Prison?"

Evidently, they had received the information Yan Jing had released.

Yan Jing nodded. "A newly established Domain, called the Cat Ship."

"Fill it out."

Before Yan Jing could finish, several more sheets of paper materialized in the man's palm, and he slapped them onto Yan Jing's body.

Even knowing they came from the Great Prison, neither of them had any more patience for Yan Jing.

The Gods' Association had an extremely formal process for assigning Domains. Even if the two of them built a good relationship with Yan Jing, it wouldn't serve to recruit them at all.

In the end, they might just be doing all the hard work for someone else's benefit.

Facing the man's attitude, Yan Jing said nothing; he simply smiled and jotted down everyone's basic information.

The man took the papers back and skimmed them. Then he turned his head and smiled at the woman. "There is a high probability something really happened to Mu Tian. The guys over in Pure Blood City are going to be happy."

The woman glanced at the paper, her lips involuntarily curling up.

The Ninth Tiers on the paper essentially represented the entire combat force of the Great Prison.

Now that they were all out, from the perspective of the two of them, there was only one possible reason for this situation: Mu Tian was dead.

In truth, neither of them felt much about whether Mu Tian was dead or alive.

They were young, not from the same era as Mu Tian. As they saw it, they were in a brand-new era, destined to stand a head taller than those old Heavenly Prodigies.

Now, existences from severed or distant eras were awakening everywhere, but their fates were all identical without exception.

Even existences who had once suppressed half an era were defeated one after another in front of the Heavenly Prodigies popping up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

The era was progressing, and Weird Energy was rising. The idea that older meant stronger was nothing but a joke.

So, in their eyes, Mu Tian's death was just a bit of seasoning.

Being able to watch the drama in Pure Blood City would be its own kind of fun.

"Warden Mu is fine; he just needs some time to rest."

Just as the two were laughing in tacit understanding, Yan Jing suddenly smiled.

Hearing Yan Jing's words, both of their expressions changed.

Clear displeasure showed in the man's silver eyes. "I told you not to speak when you aren't being spoken to."

"Heh, it's normal. After all, they just came out of a small place and don't know the rules." The woman laughed. "Luo Zheng, you can take this chance to teach him a lesson. Haven't you been saying you've been in a bad mood lately?"

The man smiled, nodded, and then reached out his hand.

Smack!

A crisp sound echoed in the air. Yan Jing caught the man's descending wrist, keeping his smile. "You two, our Warden truly is fine."

Luo Zheng didn't react at first. When he realized Yan Jing had actually caught his hand, rage rushed straight to his head, and his face sank. "Are you looking to die?"

Blinding silver light erupted from his right hand, but before it could fully bloom, he felt the entire world spin. In the next second, he was hauled by the wrist and slammed into the ground by Yan Jing.

Boom!!!

The ship's residents, hiding in their rooms and watching the scene, went wide-eyed.

Director Wen's methods didn't seem much gentler than Commissioner Yan's.

As the dust slowly settled, the man lay on the ground with his silver hair in disarray. A chain of fine Wizard runes snaked down Yan Jing's right hand, pointing straight at the man's throat.

Looking down at the furious man, whose eyes were practically splitting, Yan Jing smiled. "Our Cat Ship is a new Domain, after all. I don't want to cause too much of a stir."

The underlying message was to stand down.

The woman in the air watched this scene and furiously lunged forward to yank the man off the ground.

But before she could reach out her hand, the runes on Yan Jing's right hand sank into the man's throat.

Thin trails of blood seeped out.

The man didn't dare breathe, desperately tightening his throat.

The woman also stopped her movements, glaring darkly at Yan Jing. "Didn't Mu Tian tell you what the Gods' Association means?"

Yan Jing smiled. "The Warden never mentioned that. He only told us not to be afraid if we get bullied outside, because he's backing us up."

"Ha, he's backing you up?"

The woman laughed, as if she had heard the funniest joke in the world. "What is he even worth? He's backing you—"

Smack!

Before she could finish her sentence, a slap struck the woman's face.

The powerful force instantly shattered the Weird Energy around the woman, sending her tumbling to the ground, and her entire face was immediately drenched in blood. The two of them had only just entered the Ninth Tier, and neither cultivated the physical body; facing Yan Jing right now, they were completely outmatched.

"You—you—you're courting death!!!"

The woman was truly enraged, trembling all over with anger.

She hadn't expected that, as an enforcer of the Gods' Association, she would actually be attacked by someone.

But right as her words fell, another of Yan Jing's slaps landed.

The ground where the woman lay was blasted into a deep crater.

This time, the woman's mouth was completely mangled, and she shut up.

He turned his head to look at the man, who was preparing to flee, and smiled as he blinked.

The next instant.

The man woke from his dizziness, only to feel a bone-deep agony spread through him before he passed out entirely.

In the deep crater, Yan Jing placed the two of them together with a smile. "I just wanted to tell you two: our Warden isn't dead, he merely needs to rest. Have you two remembered that?"

"You're finished, you're really finished!!!"

The woman's face was still filled with rage, her gaze wishing she could swallow the man across from her alive. "Do you know where I'm from? The Eerie Capital, the Mo Family! You dare treat me like this? My grandfather could crush you with one hand!!!"

"Mo Family—"

Yan Jing narrowed his eyes; he felt like he had heard of this place somewhere.

He called for someone to fetch Wuhe.

"Mr. Wu, this lady says she's from the Mo Family. Do you know her?"

Yan Jing wore a smile.

Wuhe looked at the woman, a sharp light erupting from his eyes. "Mo Yinling! It's you!!"

The woman looked at Wuhe with his vintage camera head. A flash of panic appeared on her face for a moment, but she quickly calmed down and sneered. "Isn't this the Fifth Young Master? What, I didn't expect you to still be alive."

"Since you know it's me, hurry up and make this man kneel before me. Otherwise, once your brothers find out you've done this to me, you know the consequences, right?"

"Consequences—" Wuhe sneered coldly. "You're talking to me about consequences—"

The chill surrounding his body grew increasingly thick. Suddenly, he pulled an axe out of nowhere.

"Fuck! I'll hack you to death! I'll chop you to death a hundred times!!!"

No one expected Wuhe to suddenly snap. Even Yan Jing was slightly startled and reached out to block him, but even with Yan Jing holding both his hands, Wuhe still looked like he wanted to chop Mo Yinling into minced meat.

He stretched his neck out, steam rising from the camera head.

It wasn't until Yan Jing bound him with Weird Energy that he gradually calmed down and explained the situation to Yan Jing.

As it turned out, among the factions targeting Yi Ji's family back then was the Mo Family of the Mo Yinling before them. Wuhe had even always felt that the scheme which caused San Shan and Yi Ji to fall into the Space Rift had been planned by the Mo Family.

This was because the friend San Shan was going to meet that day was Mo Yinling's younger sister.

"You said her family was the mastermind, yet she just brought up your brothers—"

Yan Jing looked at Wuhe, raising the doubt in his mind.

Judging by Mo Yinling's words, if Wuhe really struck her, Wuhe's brothers might even side with her.

Hearing Yan Jing's question, Wuhe's expression sank even further. "Our family isn't what it used to be; it's very hard to dominate the Eerie Capital alone. The Mo Family is currently our family's best helper."

He mentioned some details, giving Yan Jing a general understanding.

In short, Wuhe's family had previously reigned supreme, but now their sun was setting. Though they were still stronger than other factions, they could no longer fight against everyone at once; only by adding the Mo Family could they suppress the other forces.

But this created a problem. Since the Mo Family could help Wuhe's family, they could naturally choose not to help.

As a result, the Mo Family's attitude instead became the key to many matters. Gradually, they had taken the initiative in the Eerie Capital.

"Heh, did you hear that? Hurry up and release us. Maybe your life alone will be enough to pay for the crime. Otherwise—your entire ship is going to die!!!"

Mo Yinling's expression was nearly manic, and she laughed with immense pride.

As she saw it, daring to provoke their Gods' Association meant that Yan Jing dying alone was the best possible outcome.

But the next second, her laughter abruptly cut off.

It was as if something had been punctured, making a soft squelch .

She lowered her head, staring blankly at the sharp spike that had pierced through her neck.

"You—"

She looked at Yan Jing. Before she could speak, horrifying agony directly invaded her entire mind. It was like countless evil ghosts, an endless number of hands, simultaneously piercing her scalp, digging and digging into her brain.

The sheer agony caused her eyes to roll back as she unconsciously foamed at the mouth.

But before it was over, Yan Jing reached out again, lightly tapping Mo Yinling's chest.

A terrifying force passed through her skin, directly shattering Mo Yinling's heart.

Blood flowed from her mouth. In her final moments, she looked at Yan Jing in disbelief, wanting to say something, but time had stopped.

Yan Jing saw her pocket light up and realized it was her life-saving trump card, so he immediately used time stop.

The figure of the Fear Bird was dragged out from his chest, glaring at Yan Jing with furious eyes. "You're making me put on an act in front of a Tenth Tier?!!"

"Finish this, and I can consider letting you go home."

Yan Jing remained expressionless. "Don't you want to go back and see the Eerie Capital? It's where you just came from."

Hearing this, the Fear Bird's eyes darted.

This was indeed true. Although she didn't trust Yan Jing's character or his guarantee, if she could take this chance to escape Yan Jing, it would truly be a wonderful thing.

"I'm not like you; I can't inherit her memories."

The Fear Bird still had some doubts.

Because the matter was of great importance, she didn't dare take risks.

"I will draw her past life for you."

"Her vitality—I need the subject to be able to move on their own; they can't just be a complete corpse."

"I will use the Corpse-Sewing Garment."

At this point, the Fear Bird had nothing more to say.

Yan Jing remained expressionless. "You're a descendant of Mutation, and you're afraid of a Tenth Tier? It's embarrassing even to say it out loud."

"Besides—"

Yan Jing lowered his eyelids, his long brows trembling slightly. "I am not afraid of a Tenth Tier."

This guy is about to reach the Ninth Tier—

The Fear Bird swallowed hard.

What a freak.

"No problem. I accept."

Because there were no entities around with a higher Tier than Yan Jing, the time stop could last for nearly four seconds. Time passed in a flash, and the Fear Bird plunged headfirst into Mo Yinling's body.

Feeling out this brand-new body, the Fear Bird gradually became somewhat excited.

Although the risk was real, after being trapped for so long, her happiness at gaining her freedom was also real.

Opposite them, Wuhe looked at Luo Zheng and Mo Yinling, who seemed to have fainted at the same time, and stared at Yan Jing in confusion. "Did you kill them both?"

"Of course not."

Yan Jing picked the two up and tossed them in front of Wuhe like throwing away trash.

"I don't dare provoke the Gods' Association yet."

You don't dare?

I think you're the most daring one here!

Wuhe checked their breathing and felt their auras.

Their life signs were correct, and their auras were also correct.

Especially the aura of the Fear Pathway on Mo Yinling, which was so thick it made him feel disgusted.

Wuhe sighed.

Although he really wanted to kill Mo Yinling, if he actually struck, there would be no turning back.

"What are you planning to do?"

He looked at Yan Jing.

"What am I planning to do—let them leave, of course."

Yan Jing smiled. "And you too, Mr. Wu. You can go with them."

"Me?" Wuhe stared blankly, hurriedly shaking his head. "I'm not going! I still have to find my brother. Mao Si promised to take me to find my brother."

"Besides—don't think you can get me to put in a good word for you, either."

Wuhe pursed his lips. "It wouldn't do any good even if I did. The current Fear Intent family isn't like before."

"No one cares whether weaklings like us live or die."

"Anyone can be a sacrifice."
