Chapter 110: The Wizards of the Anya People

Chapter 110: The Wizards of the Anya People

Bran was quite idle recently, watching Earl and the others manage the city without interfering. The only thing he had to do was listen to reports from all sides, then approve or reject them. He stated his goals simply and clearly, then watched how people worked.

Mary was very excited lately. The continuously growing supplies in the City Manor’s storage room made her feel very happy. At the same time, she was also uneasy because she hadn’t contributed much effort. So she found an opportunity to approach Bran, hesitating about how to speak up.

Seeing Mary like this, Bran asked curiously, “Is there a problem?”

“Mmm, do all the riches here belong to us?”

“Yes, they all belong to us.”

“But I didn’t contribute.”

“This is what you deserve, don’t overthink it. From the moment we came here together, from the moment you stood by my side, a share of the wealth here was destined to be yours. It has nothing to do with how much effort you put in. As long as we remain a whole, the wealth we gain will include a share for you. Don’t overthink it. Also, the wealth here doesn’t entirely belong to us; a part belongs to home too.” Bran pointed north.

“Right now, we should focus more on how to protect this wealth. The means by which we obtained this wealth was force. We must ensure we are strong enough, and continue to stay strong. Instead of worrying about whether this wealth belongs to us, you should spend your time practicing your combat skills.”

Mary said uncertainly, “It seems like you don’t need us. That day, Danny stopped us, saying that going out would only make us a burden to you.”

“If you had gone out that day, you would indeed have been a burden.” These words made Mary very dejected, but Bran’s next words lifted her spirits. “But I do need you, I need your protection. I am still a Mortal who can be killed. I need to sleep, rest, and eat. That day, you were my burden, but now I am your burden. I need you to be constantly vigilant against possible dangers, to give me time to deal with them or escape.”

Mary left feeling satisfied. She understood her position and could now enjoy her wealth with peace of mind.

Danny watched Mary’s departing back. “Were you comforting her?”

“No, I was telling the truth. We need to live among these outsiders. This place is no longer our homeland. Relationships have become complicated and can become very dangerous. We don’t fear direct confrontation, but look at these people working for us. When we get used to them being around, when we let our guard down, maybe just a cup of poisoned wine could take our lives without us noticing.”

“So, these past few days you’ve been sitting here observing them?”

“Mmm, we have Little Fairies around us. They are very sensitive to emotions. Although we cannot know these people’s true thoughts, we can still discern their basic inclinations in advance.”

At that moment, Earl walked in from outside, interrupting their conversation. After bowing to Bran, she said, “People from the Anya Kingdom have arrived. They request an audience outside the city walls.”

Bran laughed. “They know to request an audience this time? Bring them in.”

…

Tirui was overwhelmed by the sudden turn of events. A team of nearly a hundred people was wiped out, leaving only one insignificant minor figure to deliver the message.

After the news arrived, the Nobles who had maintained frequent contact with them recently became less enthusiastic. Fortunately, the three families who wanted to scheme against the Northlands all met with misfortune, which should be some consolation. But the matter wasn’t over yet; he still had a trump card. If possible, he would let people witness the power of the Anya Kingdom. Now, he put aside all his tasks and came here with the real trump card of this Delegation.

Before truly confirming the power of this Northern Wizard, he needed to endure, to leave himself room for maneuver. So, following etiquette, after announcing himself, he was led by Earl towards the City Manor.

Out of courtesy, Bran opened a gap in the Magic Field covering the road. But as he watched the small group gradually approach from the distance, they actually exuded a trace of arrogance, especially several people wearing white robes. Bran couldn’t help but laugh and completely closed the opened Magic Field.

“The Great Wizard, they are here.”

After announcing this, Earl turned and left, leaving Tirui and the others behind. Tirui was somewhat stunned: First, the setting was wrong; this was just the front courtyard, not a place for receiving guests. Second, was this child before him really the figure described as a Demon God? If so, he didn’t seem very frightening. He felt a sense of relief and waited for the Little Wizard before him to rise and greet them. But the other party seemed not to see them, merely sitting there like a king, waiting for their kneel and worship. This made him feel somewhat absurd.

Soon, the actions of the White Robes dispelled this feeling of absurdity. He understood that maybe that was indeed a king, a king in the eyes of Wizards. The elder leading the White Robes pushed aside the obstructive Tirui. First, he gave a deep bow to Bran, then bowed to the Black Cat beside him, and finally to the large tree behind Bran. He said respectfully, “Pachu pays his respects to you all.”

The several Wizards behind him similarly followed with bows, displaying true humility.

Bran spoke. “Very powerful force, quite good insight.”

Pachu, still bowing, said softly, “Before you all, I dare not claim to be powerful.”

“This is the first time I’ve seen evolved Wizards from outside the Northlands. So, have you come today to deal with me?”

“Previously, we indeed prepared to deal with you, but now we dare not. No one would dare harbor such thoughts in the presence of three powerful beings.”

“Sit.”

But Pachu and the others remained standing respectfully and then cautiously asked, “May we ask you a few questions?”

“Speak.”

“May I ask how many times you have Evolved?”

Bran thought for a moment. “I forgot…”

Pachu’s eyes became fervent. “Is there an end to a Wizard’s power?”

“I don’t know.”

Throughout the entire conversation, Tirui stood awkwardly to the side, completely forgotten by the Wizards. Through the conversation, Bran learned the reason for these Wizards’ Evolution. They observed various macroscopic natural phenomena, recorded them, and tried to explain them. They had their own organization – the White Robes, initially founded by an Awakened Noble. He tried to find the path for Wizard growth, believing that Wizards were the true favorites of this World.

When Bran asked them why they didn’t seek help from Scholars, their answer was: “Scholars are more inclined to collect, record, and learn knowledge. They are more like a group of managers and protectors. They are accustomed to searching for answers in vast archives, rather than actively discovering and pioneering.”

As the conversation ended, the several White-robed Sorcerers reluctantly walked out of Northland City. Only then did Tirui have a chance to speak up and ask, “Is there really no chance to defeat him?”

Pachu gave Tirui a dismissive glance. “My ability is these eyes. You cannot understand what I saw. That person, the cat, and the tree have almost transcended their original forms. The residual aura leaking from them is an infinite radiance.”

“Our earlier arrogance had already displeased them. When their Mana enveloped us, I understood what true power is.”

Pachu paused, then continued, “Even if we could manage it, I would no longer take action. That is the glory of Wizards; they have found the true path. After this Delegation’s mission ends, I will return here as a student.”

Tirui reminded him, “Don’t forget, you are from the Anya Kingdom.”

Pachu shook his head. “Actually, I’m not. I originally came to the White Robes to seek the secrets of Wizards. After my Evolution, I thought that was the end, the peak. Now I have seen a towering mountain and understood my own insignificance. Now, I wish to approach this mountain before Death comes.”

“The Northlanders will not easily reveal these secrets.” Tirui made his final effort. He now deeply regretted bringing these Wizards here; these Wizards probably all harbored thoughts of leaving.

“At the very least, I will be closer to these secrets.” Pachu waved his hand, indicating he didn’t wish to say more.
