Chapter 165: Untitled
As the weather got hotter, the roads became dry and easy to travel. Wizards who came to study arrived at Northland City one after another, so Earl was quite busy these days.
A large campsite was marked out outside the city, and rows of wooden houses were built. The wooden houses were tall and spacious, with two rows of single beds arranged from one end to the other inside. Public canteens, bathhouses, stables, and other related facilities had also been set up. Though somewhat simple, they were enough to ensure basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, and travel.
These were not provided for free, but the fees were not high. Bran did not want to make a fortune from this. It was best if one could pay the fee; if not, they could owe it temporarily and compensate through labor.
Bran worried too much about this aspect. Those who could make the trip at this time were not short of money. More often, they were full of complaints about the simple environment. But this was Northland City, and no one dared to cause trouble here.
After entering this place, most people’s abilities were restricted. They were also warned not to use their abilities in the rest area, or they would bear the consequences. One or two wizards who enhanced themselves, though their abilities were unaffected, were pulled aside separately for a talk.
After that, Pachu and the others began their teaching. Their teaching method was very good. They each took a few students to their own campsite (construction site) and taught by personal example as well as verbal instruction…
This was really good. The obvious acceleration of the construction progress by the White-robed Ones was proof. Moreover, this loose style of teaching was really suitable for wizards and suited the current situation well.
Without a set learning pace or a detailed syllabus, everyone gained inspiration in the exchange of questions and answers.
Without worrying too much about connecting issues, they busied themselves in the construction site every day with wizards who were either familiar or unfamiliar. Watching the buildings rise day by day, a sense of satisfaction naturally arose.
…
Eileen was walking towards the City Manor accompanied by Zoya. As a group of students seeking knowledge, Bran naturally would not go to welcome them. And given what had happened before…
But Eileen still felt disappointed. As for Zoya’s sudden appearance and her invitation on behalf of Bran, it made Eileen secretly start to feel jealous.
“Why did you only arrive now? Bran said you should have been here earlier.”
“Sandstone City is a bit dangerous now. For safety, we took a detour. Is Bran doing well?”
“He’s fine. When he has nothing to do, he sits there without moving. He was busy for a while recently, then went back to his old ways.”
“I thought this city would become magnificent under his hands. But apart from the roads, there’s no place that looks good.” Eileen’s tone revealed obvious disappointment.
“The City Manor is no worse than the Mountain Villa back then. Some places are even more beautiful. You’ll see in a moment.”
“Oh, really? What is he doing now?”
Zoya smiled at Eileen. “The Scholars have arrived. Bran is receiving them.”
This answer made Eileen feel much more comfortable.
…
Bran was very pleased with the arrival of the Scholars. They finally brought the materials Bran had long awaited. In front of the Scholars, Bran eagerly found the map from among them and spread it out.
Looking at the map, which marked Green, Anya, Sangye, Qiuling, and further back the City of Wisdom, along with a few small countries.
“Is this it?” Bran looked up at the Scholar in front of him, puzzled.
“Yes.”
“This is the world map you provided?”
The Scholar in front of him avoided eye contact a little. Bran’s faintly rising anger made him feel pressure.
“This is the world map?” Bran asked again.
“Our Scholars’ footsteps can only go this far. Beyond this is the territory of the Demon Clan. Although we speculate this is only a corner of the Continent, and we very much wish to go further, but you know…” the Scholar tried to explain.
“Is that so?” Bran pointed to the lower part of the map. “Has any ship gone out beyond the sea?”
The Scholar silently shook his head…
The Scholars were driven out of the City Manor by Bran, which made them look somewhat disheveled. This scene happened to be seen by Zoya and Eileen who were coming towards them.
The two walked in quickly.
In Eileen’s eyes, Bran was still his old self, just with beautiful Facial Markings and having grown much taller. He sat lazily on the ground, seeming not to care about anything.
“What happened?”
“Nothing,” Bran casually patted the ground beside him. “Sit.”
Bran was really disappointed. This map wasn’t very useful to him. He needed a broader view, a wider World. However, with friends coming, he didn’t want to talk about these disappointing things anymore.
Talking with Eileen was pleasant. Both sides intentionally avoided those awkward questions. Now was not the time to talk about these things. It would not be too late to chat after both sides regained that sense of familiarity.
When saying goodbye, Bran invited Eileen to stay here, and she happily agreed. She would move over after her own people settled down.
…
While Bran was enjoying peaceful days, Lily was conquering cities and seizing territories.
With Rio, this loyal dog, Lily’s actions became swift as the wind. Several camps of the Demon Clan were quickly cleaned out.
Rio was no longer worried about becoming food for the Insect Swarm because he was now eating with the Insect Swarm. This was good; he wouldn’t be eaten anymore…
After this full meal, he would lead his companions to the next target.
