Chapter 251: The Wish

Old Fairy Mikkel was very satisfied with this place. It had been too long since he had seen such a vast home. After the Wasteland was destroyed, the Fairy homes had gradually shrunk into isolated Gardens.

Although Twinwing City was also huge, unfortunately, they had not received an invitation. He heard that the Little Fairies accompanying the Wizards played happily there every day. How wonderful it would be if one day they could use these two cities as a foundation to build a massive home encompassing the entire Northlands!

Many things restricted the establishment and development of a home.

Newborn Ancient Trees needed a huge amount of Mana to help them survive their long juvenile stage. Because a stable and abundant Mana environment was too hard to find, most seedlings unfortunately died, stuck at this hurdle. Moreover, the seedlings of Ancient Trees were too tender and delicious. The vitality and Mana contained within them held an irresistible temptation, attracting the covetous gazes of too many drooling creatures.

The past was too painful to recall, but the most difficult times were over. When they joined hands with the Northlanders again, both sides had to face a very awkward problem—population.

Compared to the already small number of Northlanders, the Fairies could only be described as scarce, so the Fairies had to prioritize their investments. Initially, they chose the Castle in the Northlands and the Western Territory, but with the rise of Bran and Lily, the Fairies had a better choice.

Comparatively, in terms of personal feelings, the old fairies favored Bran, but in terms of development prospects, they viewed Lily more favorably. Because Lily commanded a group of Little Wizards from the Northlands. For now, that group of Little Wizards had grown into a stable source of Mana. One day, they would establish their own outposts and cultivate their own Ancient Trees, just like this brother and sister pair. When that time came, using these outposts as nodes to build a vast Mana Web would be within reach.

Mikkel did not hide his form. He flew out from the City Manor with several young fairies in a swaggering manner, heading towards the High Tower. He planned to place a few tree seeds at the base of the tower. The Mana there had a fresh, watery feeling, perfect for the seeds to take root and sprout.

He could sense that Bran and Huahua were continuously radiating Mana particles outward. They had broken free from the constraints of their environment and no longer drew Mana from their surroundings. Instead, they drew power from a much larger source within the Void. The Mana they emitted was purer and more beneficial for the seeds’ germination and absorption.

Mikkel liked Bran and Huahua. In a sense, they were the home the Fairies dreamed of. Moreover, they were very generous, willing to share their own Mana with the Fairies.

…

When the fairies were approaching the High Tower, Jenny and Lui happened to be on their inevitable path.

The days of conflict with the Northlander youths were not without benefit. At least they had gained the recognition of those youths and made a few friends. Now, entering the Eastern District, they had a justifiable reason.

Jenny and Lui made way for the swaying Ancient Trees blocking the path and moved closer to the High Tower. Knowing it was a forbidden area only sparked their curiosity even more.

They still did not dare to cross the boundary line Bran had drawn, but circling around the outer edge a few times and gazing up at the High Tower from a close distance was a decent experience. Occasionally, they argued a few sentences, randomly guessing about the rare treasures stored inside.

A monster that even Bran couldn’t defeat? And he actually managed to snatch it from it? Just thinking about it was exciting enough.

As the two of them peeked, several strange little creatures flew past from not far away, boldly entering the forbidden area. This made the two of them pause simultaneously at their feet. After exchanging a look, they both saw confusion in each other’s eyes.

What was that?

It wasn’t just Jenny and Lui who saw the fairies, so many people had the same question. With this question, people began to ask and inquire.

Since Bran wanted the fairies to take over Northland City, he wouldn’t let them stay completely hidden behind the scenes anymore. He needed the world to know that the masters here were not just the Northlanders, but also the Fairies.

Jenny and Lui were lucky. They soon found a Northlander youth they had bonded with through their fights. After persistent pestering, they learned that those were—Fairies.

Fairies—allies, partners, even family of the Northlanders. At least, from the information they gathered, Wizard Bran regarded the Fairies as family. He would share everything here with them.

The youth even bared his white teeth and told them that two Little Fairies always lived on the Great Wizard, inseparable. Jenny and Lui didn’t believe it; when they first met, they hadn’t seen any fairy at all.

Facing their doubt, the youth smugly pointed above his head, saying he also had an inseparable partner. As he spoke, a Little Fairy appeared there, tugged his hair slightly dissatisfied, and stamped its foot.

When Jenny and Lui tried to move closer for a better look, the Little Fairy left the youth and flew towards the High Tower. The youth shrugged and explained, “He doesn’t like you.” Then, he left the two behind and chased after it.

Jenny and Lui stood rooted to the spot, their eyes gleaming. If they also had such partners…

…

At this moment, Bran and Huahua were hiding inside the tower, studying the newly born Key. After Huahua leaped out from the Void, that cocoon transformed into a small black sphere, which he stored inside his body. Now, Bran held this small sphere in his hand, examining it repeatedly.

“What is this?”

Hearing the question, Huahua withdrew his gaze from the sphere and silently looked up.

Faced with Huahua’s innocent eyes, Bran felt helpless. He slowly expanded the sphere, transforming it into a giant cocoon that enveloped himself and Huahua. Through the giant cocoon, the outside World became layered and overlapping, as if viewing a fragmented World through countless shards of glass.

Bran tried to grasp one of the fragments but was flung out of the giant cocoon. Now he was outside the tower. The white clouds beneath his feet and the earth above his head were both very, very far away. Hanging upside down in mid-air, he momentarily couldn’t tell where he was. Under the eager pull of the earth, Bran resolutely threw himself into its embrace. Only when the scent of soil rushed towards his face did he wake with a start. With a puff, he turned into a cloud of gray smoke, carrying the bits and pieces on him, and returned to the tower.

No more playing! Bran, still shaken, made the correct choice in time.

When Mikkel entered the High Tower, Bran was sitting there, clothes disheveled, contemplating life. Huahua squatted beside him, idly fiddling with a small black sphere. That sphere emitted a fragrant Mana scent that made Mikkel feel intoxicated. Without hesitation, Mikkel flew towards the sphere, but was stopped by Bran, who was now overly cautious.

“Dangerous!”

Although it was only a two-word warning, Mikkel heard within it emotion, helplessness, and the relief of having survived a disaster.

“What about—Huahua?” Mikkel asked worriedly.

“He’s the only one for whom it’s safe,” Bran sighed. “Do you need something?”

“I sensed a watery aura in the tower. It would be a great help to us, so I wanted to borrow it.”

“It’s dangerous, but I can take you to see it and explain it to you along the way. If you have a safe and reliable method, there’s no problem lending it to you.”
