Chapter 100: Three Parties Bid, Black Tortoise Inner Armor

Qin Xiao had been doubtful during the introduction. Once he saw the armor itself, he was certain.

The missing heart-protecting plate was on his own body. This Body-Protecting Turtle Armor was the other part.

“Though rated as a Middle Grade Dharma Treasure, it starts at twenty million, with increases of at least one million. If you’re fortunate enough to complete it, this treasure will be extraordinary. Perhaps it will even become a High Grade Dharma Treasure.”

After stating the starting price, Cai Mu didn’t forget to add this remark.

This item was originally meant to be the finale, but seeing that everyone’s enthusiasm wasn’t particularly high, he brought it forward early to stir up the atmosphere first.

“Miss Ling, this item wouldn’t be something you specially prepared to trick me, would it?”

Surely it could not be such a coincidence. Last time Qin Xiao had bought the Heart-Protecting Turtle Shell. Now the main piece of the Body-Protecting Turtle Armor had appeared. Had Ling Ruoxue seen how rich he was and decided to fleece him?

“What are you saying, Young Master Qin? When I saw this auction item, I was also startled. If our Immortal Dao Merchant Association had the complete set all along, do you think we would separate them for auction? Wouldn’t auctioning the finished product bring higher profits? This should be something Elder Cai recently obtained.”

Ling Ruoxue’s reaction to the auction item was the same as Qin Xiao’s-both were startled.

She had auctioned the Heart-Protecting Turtle Shell herself. It had sat in the vault for a long time without its matching piece. She had taken it along on her journey to gain experience, as the trump card for the first auction she would host. She had never expected to find its other part here.

“That does make sense. I worried for nothing.”

Qin Xiao realized it too. They were not stupid. Why would they sell it in parts? Finding it here must be his good fortune. He had to get it, whatever the price.

The Pure Yang Sect’s Second Elder, the Mysterious Yin Sect’s Great Elder, and Fang Xiuxian were also surprised to see it.

The armor looked very much like the legendary Top Grade Dharma Treasure, Black Tortoise Armor. Replica or not, they all wanted it.

The twenty-million opening price meant few people could join the bidding. Fang Xiuxian on the second floor was the first to speak.

As Chen Shunyi’s most favored disciple, he could access many materials from the imperial court. He had also seen records of the Black Tortoise Armor.

“Twenty-five million.”

Fang Xiuxian raised the price by five million to shut out anyone trying to stir things up.

“Thirty million.”

Wei Jian, the Mysterious Yin Sect’s Great Elder, followed with another five million.

“Forty million.”

The Pure Yang Sect’s Second Elder Han Mingyuan directly added ten million. He was determined to obtain this item.

“Fifty million.”

With two rivals making such large bids, Fang Xiuxian stopped holding back. He had obtained plenty of spirit stones from his master, Chen Shunyi, and had many treasures too. If he exchanged those, he could raise over a hundred million spirit stones.

“Three parties competing? Besides the Pure Yang Sect, do others also recognize this item?”

Wei Jian hesitated. He had brought plenty of spirit stones from the sect, but he was not sure two hundred million would be enough.

“Sixty million.” Read the latest chapters at NovelPing.

Despite his doubts, Wei Jian raised the bid by ten million. With three parties recognizing the armor, tens of millions were only an appetizer.

“Seventy million.”

The Pure Yang Sect’s Second Elder Han Mingyuan also unhesitatingly added ten million.

Han Mingyuan had come prepared, bringing five hundred million spirit stones to the auction. No one could match the Pure Yang Sect’s wealth.

Both sects also had credit with the Immortal Dao Merchant Association, so they could bid beyond the spirit stones they had brought. With the sects backing them, there was no fear they would refuse to pay. Their credit was capped at one billion, though.

“One hundred million.”

Fang Xiuxian bid all the spirit stones he had on him.

The hundred-million bid stirred the crowd. It was the first bid that high. Even the spectators perked up.

After shouting one hundred million, Fang Xiuxian summoned an attendant, revealed his identity, and requested an overdraft limit.

The Grand Commander’s name helped. After an assessment, Fang Xiuxian was granted five hundred million in credit. He had also consulted his master, Chen Shunyi, through voice transmission. He could not have obtained that much on his own.

Qin Xiao looked serious. The Body-Protecting Turtle Armor had passed a hundred million in just a few bids. His Heart-Protecting Turtle Shell had cost only seven million. It could not match this armor’s coverage or grade, of course, but with the price rising so fast, the winning bid would be frightening.

“What? You also want to get involved? Our sect’s Elder has already taken action. This time, just accept defeat.”

Seeing Qin Xiao’s serious expression, Luo Yunshuang spoke.

She admitted Qin Xiao was rich, but he could not be richer than a sect. And this armor was not worth a hundred million anyway.

“Of course I want to get involved, but not now. Now three parties are bidding. I’ll wait a bit more. After one drops out, I’ll enter.”

Qin Xiao had returned to his usual unconcerned manner.

“You’re just putting on a brave front. I’ll see how long you can hold out.”

Luo Yunshuang did not know what to say to that infuriating look.

“I actually believe Young Master Qin. Merely one hundred million, that’s all.”

Ling Ruoxue had every confidence in Qin Xiao. Last time she had exchanged two billion spirit stones with him, he had not even blinked. This price was nothing to him.

“He really has this many Spirit Stones?”

Luo Yunshuang might doubt Qin Xiao’s wealth, but she trusted Ling Ruoxue. Hearing her say that, she could hardly believe it. Wasn’t he just a Tianyuan Sect disciple? How could he have so many spirit stones?

“Watch and you’ll know.” This chapter is updated first at NovelPing.

Ling Ruoxue did not explain. She told her to keep watching.

Qin Xiao was waiting for the bidders to run out of steam. He did not want to overpay like a fool, so he would join later.

“One hundred ten million.”

Wei Jian had not expected someone to bid a hundred million outright, but he could still afford more. He added ten million.

“One hundred fifty million.”

Han Mingyuan raised the bid straight to a hundred and fifty million. They all knew what it was. There was no point dragging this out.

“Two hundred million.”

Fang Xiuxian also understood the other’s meaning, also directly adding fifty million.

“Three hundred million.”

So that was how they wanted to do it? Wei Jian grew angry too and drew on the sect’s credit.

“Five hundred million.”

They were testing each other’s limits now. Han Mingyuan bid five hundred million. That should force one of them out.

“Six hundred million.”

Fang Xiuxian bid his limit.

He would have to drop out after this. If either rival raised the price, the armor would be out of his reach.

He could only curse inwardly. Those two old bastards were spending like this because they had their sects behind them. He had not prepared enough this time. If only his master were here.

They all knew what they were looking at. At first, they might have wondered if it was a replica, but after these rounds of bidding, they understood that it was Black Tortoise Armor. Even incomplete, it was worth billions, perhaps ten billion or more. Everyone wanted a bargain. It came down to who had more money.

“Seven hundred million.”

Wei Jian still unhesitatingly added one hundred million, the price reaching seven hundred million.

“Eight hundred million.”

Han Mingyuan naturally also unhesitatingly followed.

After the eight-hundred-million bid and a short pause, Fang Xiuxian called out that he was withdrawing.

It had taken eight hundred million to force one of the three out. Everyone knew this was far more than a Middle Grade Dharma Treasure, but all they could do was watch. They could not join in. Seeing it once was already a privilege.

Cai Mu was stunned too. The Immortal Dao Merchant Association had records of Black Tortoise Armor, but he had read them long ago. When he obtained the item, it had not occurred to him. Now he saw that it was a piece of Black Tortoise Armor. He had failed to report such a treasure. He would surely face some hard questions.

At this time, the fourth floor, which everyone had placed high hopes on, also placed a bid.

“One billion.”
