Chapter 1151: The Sacred Scarab Clan, First Encounter
Chapter 1151: The Sacred Scarab Clan, First Encounter
Perhaps the environment made the difference. The Barren Lands creatures here were smaller than those in the Barren Lands Southern Region, though still large beside the Immortal Clan.
The so-called Sacred Scarab was actually a type of insectoid Barren Lands species, resembling a dung beetle.
But they did not roll dung. They were omnivorous, consuming any object that contained energy, including Demon Crystals.
Sacred Scarabs came in many colors, depending on what they ate.
Precisely because they could eat Demon Crystals, black body coloration made up the vast majority.
Since they could devour any energy body, they were entirely unaffected by Demonic Qi erosion. Any Demonic Qi that invaded their bodies would simply be digested.
Consequently, the Sacred Scarab was the largest clan in the Barren Lands Western Region. Although the other two clans were also part of the Western Region’s three major races, their combined numbers could not rival the sheer size of the Sacred Scarab Clan.
The Heavenly Divine Bees occupied the only oasis in the Barren Lands Western Region. They did not live on nectar alone, but when raising their young, they gathered nectar from the flowers of Immortal Fruits, along with Immortal Dew.
The Red Lizards occupied the largest desert. Their population had always been small. They often ambushed the Heavenly Divine Bees and Sacred Scarabs, but achieved little because they could not defeat either clan.
Thinking back to ancient times, the Red Lizard Clan had always preyed upon the Sacred Scarab Clan for food, but now they had been driven into the harsh desert by the Sacred Scarabs.
However, the Red Lizard had adapted to survive by devouring fire-attribute energy. The desert happened to be a place of extreme geothermal heat, abundant in flame energy.
A carnivorous species had been forced by circumstances to survive on thin air.
Thus, the three races maintained a certain balance. Their territories did not overlap, and their means of survival did not conflict.
Other weaker clans also depended on them to survive.
