Chapter 969: Shen Ning’s Request, A Mediator’s Role

Folding through space allowed one to pass directly through walls. Qin Xiao bypassed the guarding Heavenly Fire Sect disciples and entered the room without a sound.

He did not reveal himself immediately, instead taking a moment to observe Shen Ning, who was dressed in crimson bridal attire.

Her face showed neither joy nor sorrow, only a little weariness. Perhaps she had been worrying about her ancestor all this time.

After making sure she was alone, Qin Xiao revealed himself.

He immediately activated a soundproof formation within the room to ensure their conversation would not carry outside.

“Long time no see, Holy Maiden.”

Settling into a chair in the outer sitting room, Qin Xiao spoke toward the inner chamber where Shen Ning stood.

Only a door curtain separated the rooms. Shen Ning startled, then her eyes filled with tears when she saw Qin Xiao.

“Qin Xiao? It is you? What brings you here?”

Her voice carried a complex mix of emotions.

Part of her hesitation stemmed from a reluctance to let Qin Xiao see her dressed as a bride being married off against her will, stirring feelings she preferred to keep hidden.

“I was passing through Wind Moon City and saw lanterns and festive decorations everywhere. That’s how I found out you were getting married, so I stopped by to drop off a congratulatory gift.”

Qin Xiao replied casually.
