Xu Yue followed him through the door and closed it behind her. "Then why didn't you stop her?"

"I couldn't have stopped her. Besides, that's her father. She can't exactly sever ties with him for real." Yang Xun sat down on the sofa.

"That's true." Xu Yue nodded, dropping the subject. Instead, she reached out and gently tugged at the corner of his shirt. Her voice softened, "I'm a little tired. I want to go back to my room and rest."

Yang Xun looked down at her. Xu Yue's cheeks were indeed a bit pale, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes. She clearly hadn't been sleeping well these past few days. He reached out, wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and scooped her up into his arms in one smooth motion.

Xu Yue let out a small gasp, but a smile curved her lips as she looped her arms around his neck. Pushing open the bedroom door, Yang Xun strode inside and gently laid her down on the bed.
