Scarlett knows that this battle was unwinnable.

Across from her was her aunt, a Platinum-level hunter. Behind her is the Golden Eldritch Manticore, an Ancient-level being on the verge of reaching Mythic status. A single swipe of that creature's claws can turn a person into cubes. She and Luke combined cannot hold them off.

"We can't fight head-on," she whispered. "A head-on fight will kill us. We have to stall her and find an opening to slip into the Origin Realm. Quickly."

At her command, the Empyrean Phoenix spewed fire on the ground.

A wall of fire rose, standing between them and Brienne.

Flames leaped high, crackling the rubble on the ground.

This was a good idea. The Origin Realm only allowed those invited to enter, so the sooner they got in, the less deadly this battle would be. Scarlett and Luke were eager to slip into the black door.

But Brienne wasn't falling for it.
